Video - An Amusing Look at the Quirky Border Between the US and Canada
A great video on the history of the US/Canadian border. Funny and informative.
Of course there is the ''Great Pig War'' of the NW between the US and England. The only war that there were no injuries. Well, there was that pig.

Enjoy.
This is hilarious. I found it on youtube. Giggling, I am. ha haha ha. Oh, my goodness. This is funny.
LOL, did you read the link about the ''Great Pig War''...Now that is classic bluster.
Those guys have a great sense of humor. This should go viral.
LOL, "you blasted pigs, get outta my garden---this means war"!
Oh no, the pig was the only casualty of the ''war''...
How cute! Humorous and informative! I needed that today!
Thanks!
Happy that you enjoyed it Dowser.
Darn work computer - can't watch the video - so, will watch when I get home tonight.
If you get a chance, read thelink on the ''Great Pig War''...It's classic, and true.
San Juan Island has been turned into a wildlife sanctuary - the USFWS and Navy have control.
So does that mean that we're not going to have another ''Great Pig War'' with the British. You have to watch the Canadians though. Bacon is their thing.
LOL...Thanks Kav!!
Happy that you got a laugh out of it Nona.
Ever wonder why on some highways, there's a continuous series of meanders for no apparent reason?
Each time a meander slices a little piece of someone's property (field) and it gets paved as part of the highway, the landowner gets an encroachment fee from a government agency.
There seems to be nothing "straight" when government is involved.
Good video.
Throughout history there seem s to be perpetual disputes over land. Somes, as in this case, it can be quite funny.
Apparently there are a large number of disputes still unresolved that we never hear much about. Sometimes it involves parcels of land on borders-- even borders of friendly nations.
One I came across a while back is that of the Spratley islands in the South China Sea. What I found interesting is that no fewer than six nations make claim to them (or part od them)! Islands I had never heard of before.
Now would would so many countries want possession of these islands?

And compared to Republican gerrymandered voting districts, the border is without so much as a wrinkle.
That was done so well - so very, very cool.
And possible oil Krish.
Mac the part of the video that highlighted the Northwest Angle in Minnesota, is the northern most point in the lower 48. The Red Lake Ojibwe control part of it, since it was deemed part of our reservation.
The Rainy Rivers which is also part of the border, it split down the middle, each side has it's side. Just don't cross over onto the Canadian side when your fishing. Different rules apply, same goes for Canadian fisherman.
BTW it very easy to cross the border without going through a check point in that area.
Yeah, it's really a well done video, intertaining and factual. A rare combination.
Oh come on. Both parties do gerrymandering and have since forever. This probably isn't the place to start such arguments. We are going from a funny and hilarious video to "let's blame some republicans for something". Golly and gee whiz, A Mac.
Well, maybe I crossed the LINE.
But it was so hard to follow.
I can show you maps no, I'll stop.
heh heh. Made me giggle, you did.
