Storm chasers were out and about in Wyoming and caught this incredible footage of a supercell forming in the skies over Wyoming. They have created it as a time-lapse video, to fully demonstrate just how powerful this storm was!
I wish this had been available back when I was teaching meteorology! Hope you enjoy!

This looks like something out of a horror movie! And yet, it's REAL.
If I saw this thing coming for us, I'd be gathering children and animals and heading for the basement...
In FLA we don't have basements ...

Yeah, the water table is too high... Not good.
Scary, I think. At least, out in Wyoming, where it is dry, they can see this form, as it is isolated. Here, we have so much humidity in the atmosphere, the clouds like this are obscured by all the general cloudiness around it. If the conditions exist to form this, then the conditions are usually played out along the leading edge of a front. We don't get to see this, because there are so many clouds involved.
It explains what happens well, I thought.
OTOH , one could find a sinkhole and jump in !
Just be careful. Climb in. You might jump into something that's pretty deep...
Well yeah . Maybe a rope ladder or sumpthin ...
