Holiday thievery

http://thatjewdiedforyou.com/

I watch a lot of youtube. I don't have cable tv, so I watch mainly youtube, free applications on xbox (mostly MSN related), and Netflix. I don't watch much for entertainment overall, so most of my news I get from the internet or NPR on the drive to work.

Anyway...

I was interested to see this bit of holiday thievery. Thatjewdiedforyou.com has an interesting mini-movie that they've been pushing on youtube. I generally don't watch the mini-movie/commercials (thank goodness for the skip button), but because of youtube changing policies on money making, you often are stuck watching the first 5-20 seconds (depending on what the company paid for).

I let this gem play on; quiteincredulously.

I think it's kind of shitty to turn Easter into a fully Christian holiday (in the first place), since the original intent was Passover; a Jewish celebration.. in the second place I think it is kind of artless and cheap to not only make take Easter as the Jesus-story and run with it, but super impose that on top of the holocaust.

I know that Christianity has a long running history of stealing holidays left and right (kind of the way English takes words from every which culture) and that is what makes it more universal and ageless (?), but for some reason this film really iced a cake for me.

I guess I should consider the source eh? But, what is your take? (please forgive me if the link doesn't work. It is thatjewdiedforyou.com)
