We at News talkers started or at least when I joined were not a hell bent for leather try to embarrass every one especially new members. we have run off more members than we have and we continue.

Religion a very touchy subject which no one has a hard iron clad answer to. Indians believe in totally different views than christian or subset protestant or Muslim or Hindu or the thousands of others. Our Country yes our country is supposed to accept all Religions and allow them the freedom to pray and gather to do so. Our fore fathers many left Europe and other countries to escape the tyranny and we have been doing our damnedest to recreate it right here on NT. We are better than that or I thought we were.

The problem on news vine became that we couldn't talk about anything just argue so they created groups where you have to be accepted into and that way a group was formed that everyone believed the same thing and the division is overall increased. Avoiding a problem only allows it to fester. Maybe we cannot discuss and give our views and accept other people and allow them to have their own views. I have learned more about Religions here than anywhere else. Touched them briefly in College and read a few books ok many books but that is someones perception rather than a true believer.

I believe we need to welcome in those of different faiths and different nationalities to enrich our knowledge rather than go back to the book burning burning people at the stake or mass open grave killings of bygone eras and recent past. Most religions would be willing to kill for their Religion and many do and will continue. I know we have lost members who tried to join in conversations and were trashed by the guardians of their beliefs. So sad! So juvenile so ignorant.

We must do better all of us!
