The highest-rated show on cable news devoted four seconds of Monday's show to the mass shooting in Buffalo.

On Saturday, police say an 18-year-old White man gunned down 10 people at a supermarket in a predominantly Black neighborhood after posting racist screeds online. All 10 people killed were Black.

Fox News' The Five devoted no segments to the shooting, which has dominated news coverage since it happened over the weekend. Meanwhile, Fox News' morning and afternoon shows covered the massacre, just as its weekend news shows did.

The shooting would not have been mentioned at all on The Five were it not for a fleeting comment from cohost Geraldo Rivera, which lasted four seconds.

During a segment on Vice President Kamala Harris awkwardly repeating the phrase "we will work together" several times in some remarks on climate change on Friday, Rivera suggested Harris would be better suited to oversee an effort to combat racism or rap lyrics promoting violence.

"I had an idea, Dana, for the vice president," Rivera said to cohost Dana Perino. "Why couldn't she - because she really made sense… talking about the Buffalo mass murder and talking about racism - why can't she be in charge of fighting racism or be Tipper Gore and in charge of moderating or policing gangster rap that extols extended magazines and so forth?"

Rivera's passing thought on Buffalo lasted four seconds.

The segments on Monday's edition of The Five were (in order) dedicated to: President Joe Biden's poll numbers; the nation's baby formula shortage; fentanyl; the vice president's aforementioned "word salad"; Elon Musk praising a Netflix memo telling certain employees to get a thicker skin; and lastly, a recurring segment called "One More Thing," for which the shooting did not make the cut.

Watch above via Fox News.

They didnt talk about the biggest news story in the country because their audience doesnt want to hear it. They cant handle the truth.

Actually, they, like myself, might be wondering why they should care more about this than any other shooting in the country. I mean, some disillusioned individual goes and shoots a bunch of people. Why is that worse than gang bangers simply because it was racially motivated? For instance, according to the FBI statistics, there were 55 murders classified as hate crimes in 2019, only one of whom was black. Compare that with 3,299 white people being murdered by 2,594 white people and 566 black people, or 2,906 black people being murdered by 2,574 black people and 246 white people.

The only reason this is "the biggest news story in the country" is because the left is using what is a statistically insignificant event and using it to club the right with rather than focusing on where the actual problems are.

The Five’s only sin here was using the mass media’s model in not covering a story like this.     Shame on them for using such liberal techniques

So, let me get this straight, I'm supposed to be "outraged" because some TV show isn't blathering on with endless theories and hyperbole about what happened?

Yes, those are the liberal rules. Looks like liberals are trying to cancel the five because they finally figured out they are laughing at them and not with them.

Could that be why we are supposed to be all pissed off at this.  They aren't playing by the liberal rules so the liberals are pissed and they demand we should be to.

They have to be pissed about something.  Must have been a slow news night for them to decide this is worth the outrage.

Although the five is on fox they are not a news show. The problem with some people is they don't know the difference between news, opinion and entertainment. Proof is that so many people believe cnn and msnbc is news. It looks like even the new owners of cnn can tell and it seems they want to go back to news and not advocacy tv.

The Five discusses the news stories and news items of the day. Someone decided the biggest story in the country didnt make the cut on their show. This is hardly the first time something like this has happened though.

And this decision is worthy of outrage?  Again, they are not a news program but an entertainment show. The stories they may choose not to run may not fit in with the show entertainment format. If someone is looking for the most important news stories of the day I would suggest looking someplace else. Or get a job as the five program director and change their format to whatever makes you happy.

They choose things they feel will be entertaining. That is context of the show. You wanting them to focus on something you deem as necessary for them to focus on is what is meaningless. Enjoy your outrage though.

At least you admit it is not news. The subjects that don’t fit the narrative will conveniently be ignored.

You mean things they think they can mock. They didnt bring up the Buffalo shooting because they know their audience doesnt want to hear it. Its that simple. Fox News does this sort of thing all the time.

Of course that show is not news.  Unlike almost every show (if not every show) on CNN and MSNBC they don't pretend they are news.

Of course.  It is an entertainment show and they show what their audience wants to see.  That should be no surprise and there is no reason for the outrage unless people are just looking for an excuse to be outraged and try to cancel a show that is kicking the ass of any show on their cable "news? networks.  While Fox entertainment may do that sort of thing all the time the few shows that are actually news shows do not.  Yet all the shows on MSNBC and CNN are mostly opinion shows masquerading as news show.  Even the new owners of CNN seem to understand that.

Here is a web site that exposes the blind spots of both the left and the right when reporting the news and has coverage of both.  Worth checking out.

It is interesting to see the blind spots of the left and right and also see how each side covers different news event.  Sometimes it is hard to believe they are talking about the same event.
