A missing witness into the investigation of Hunter Biden's business dealings who claims he has proof of the President's son's corrupt connections to the Chinese government has reappeared after he himself was accused of being a Chinese agent and fled custody.

Days after Gal Luft publicly dared the DOJ to unseal the indictment against him — alleging the charges he's facing are a political attempt to cover up his claims of Hunter Biden's corruption — officials did just that.

The US Attorney's Office on Monday released the indictment against the US-Israeli dual citizen, who was arrested in Cyprus in February on charges of willfully failing to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act ("FARA"), arms trafficking, Iranian sanctions violations, and making false statements to federal agents.

Luft and the US Attorney's Office in the Southern District of New York, where the charges were filed, did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

The indictment against Luft

Prosecutors say while Luft was serving as the co-director of a strategic think tank, Analysis of Global Security, he agreed to "covertly recruit and pay" a former high-ranking government official and advisor to then-President Trump to publicly support policies that would benefit China without registering as an agent of a foreign entity.

Luft told the New York Post that the high-ranking official is the former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, James Woolsey, who also worked as a consultant for Luft's think tank and was a senior advisor in Donald Trump's White House.

Prosecutors allege Luft created a written "dialogue" between Woolsey and an associate at CEFC China Energy, a state-run energy company, which was then published in a Chinese newspaper online.

As Luft was writing, his associate at CEFC China Energy said of Woolsey "[i]n these articles, we do not want to spill all the beans yet, just enough to let 'people' know he is in the corridor of power to be. Just broad stroke policy consideration that leaves plenty of room for interpretation and imagination to be filled in later."

In addition to the alleged actions to influence US policy in favor of China, prosecutors argue Luft "worked to broker a deal for Chinese companies to sell certain weapons to Libya, including anti-tank launchers, grenade launchers, and mortar rounds (which LUFT and his associates referred to in coded language as "toys")."

"LUFT also worked to broker deals for certain weapons to be sold to the United Arab Emirates, including aerial bombs and rockets," the indictment reads.

Luft faces up to 100 years in prison if convicted of the eight counts against him. He vehemently denied the charges to the NY Post, claiming the investigation is politically motivated to prevent him from coming forward to share what he claims is proof of Hunter Biden profiting off his father's name in business deals with Chinese individuals who have ties to military intelligence.

Luft's claims about the Biden family

Through his own connections with CEFC China Energy, Luft said he was able to confirm Hunter Biden's dealings with the company, including meetings with officials and dollar amounts of deals that were completed.

In addition, Luft claimed Hunter Biden was friendly with an FBI agent — a mole called "One Eye" — who Luft says tipped off Hunter's contacts at CEFC to alert them to investigations into their dealings with Biden's son.

In an interview with the New York Post released last Wednesday, where he dared prosecutors to unseal the indictment saying it would "make (his) day," Luft says the charges originate from a meeting he arranged with agents of the FBI in 2019, in Brussels, Belgium, where Luft says he shared information with intelligence agents about the Biden family's connections with CEFC China Energy.

Prior to his father taking office, the now-President's son made multi-million dollar deals with the company in 2017 to complete energy projects that never came to fruition, The Washington Post reported. Hunter is accused of leveraging Joe Biden's name in the deals in what would be a conflict of interest, though it remains unconfirmed whether the elder Biden personally knew about the business dealings.

Emails between Hunter and his business partners make references to saving a percentage of the deal's profits for "the big guy," the NY Post reported, prompting investigations into what Joe Biden knew about the deals.

Christopher Clark, a lawyer for Hunter Biden, did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

On the run

After being arrested in February — while the indictment against him was still sealed from the public — Luft fled once released on bail.

His whereabouts are currently unknown.

"I volunteered to inform the US government about potential security breach, and about compromising information about a man vying to be the next president," Luft told the NY Post. "I'm now being hunted by the very same people who I informed and may have to live on the run for the rest of my life."

Luft added: "I warned the government about potential risks to the integrity of the 2020 elections ... Just think about it, and ask yourself who's a real criminal in this story?"

Gal Luft, purported truth teller about the Bidens, is on the run from the law.

Wouldnt an innocent man who had a truthful story to tell come and face the music and make his case to the courts and to the public?

One would think so, but these are Republicans who have seen investigation after investigation blow up in their faces. Their failure is almost breathtaking.

It is the way the Brandon administration, DOJ, FBI, and IRS treat all whistle blowers that come out against Brandon. Funny how the charges didn't come out against him until after he testified to the FBI/DOJ in 2019.

Given the current two tier US justice system- [ Deleted ] Luft isn't ratting out Trump. He doesn't have the all important D behind his name. The DOJ isn't going to go judge shopping to protect him. His chances for a "fair" trial are slim and none.

After the last 7 years and counting of Democrat fucked up investigations and charges you have the audacity to claim that? Buckle up for the next two years- the Brandon administration is going to be in real pain. Especially when investigations start on their systemic abuse whistle blowers.

John’s using the classic mafia defense lawyer tactic.  “All these witnesses to my client’s criminal behavior are liars and crooks! How can you trust them?”

as if honest people are going to commit crimes and sell out the country with the hunter Biden’s of the world.  Criminals and other shady people tend to be the  people with direct knowledge of crimes.  It’s common  sense.

John knows it’s bullshit. He will happily accept  Michael cohen or any other criminal testimony against trump as the gospel truth.

GOP’s ‘Missing’ Biden Probe Witness Gal Luft Faces Laundry List of Federal Charges

Brett Bachman, Erik Uebelacker 5-6 minutes   7/10/2023

The “missing” witness long-touted by Republicans in Congress as the missing link to their probe into alleged Biden family corruption was accused Monday of being an unregistered foreign agent for China and an international arms trafficker while violating U.S. sanctions on Iran and lying to investigators, among   a laundry list of other federal charges .

Dual U.S.-Israeli citizen Gal Luft had already skipped out on his bail while in Cyprus awaiting extradition to the U.S. for a separate case in March—though he alleges that the sprawling case against him represents political persecution and retaliation by the Biden administration against a potential witness.

The House Oversight Committee has for months touted a secret “informant” who could provide evidence of an alleged “quid pro quo” deal for foreign aid between an Obama-era Biden and an unnamed country—though details of the arrangement remain murky and unverified at best.

Those claims   partially unraveled   when Rep. James Comer (R-KY) in May held a much-hyped press conference in which he promised to expose the preliminary findings of four months’ worth of scrutiny into the Biden family’s business dealings—while failing to air any real evidence of corruption. He then offered a partial excuse for the failure:   their star witness had up and disappeared .

The situation was memorialized in a much-publicized Fox News interview, in which a credulous Maria Bartiromo appeared shocked by the revelations.

“Well, unfortunately, we can’t track down the informant,” the Kentucky representative said. “We’re hopeful that the informant is still there. The whistleblower knows the informant. The whistleblower is very credible.”

“We’re hopeful that we can find the informant,” Comer added. “Remember, these informants are kind of in the spy business, so they don’t make a habit of being seen a lot or being high-profile or anything like that.”

Luft then came forward days later in   an interview with   New York Post   opinion columnist Miranda Devine , alleging that he was hiding out in an undisclosed location after being arrested on five charges, including arms dealing across the Third World, as well as a violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, among other charges.

“The chances of me getting a fair trial in Washington are virtually zero,” he told Devine as the reason he skipped out on his bail. “I had to do what I had to do.”

Despite the allegations, Comer doubled down on Friday, tweeting that Luft is a “very credible witness on Biden family corruption,” who “provided incriminating evidence to six officials from the FBI and the DOJ in a meeting in Brussels in March 2019.”

“We have no reason to believe the FBI & DOJ acted on this info,” he continued.

Gal Luft, a very credible witness on Biden family corruption, provided incriminating evidence to six officials from the FBI and the DOJ in a meeting in Brussels in March 2019.

We have no reason to believe the FBI & DOJ acted on this info.

Americans deserve answers.   @NEWSMAX   pic.twitter.com/FpbKvn13zC

— Rep. James Comer (@RepJamesComer)   July 7, 2023

On Sunday, Republican Senator Ron Johnson (WI) added Luft should be granted immunity.

“Now, he’s literally fleeing for his life right now,” Johnson   told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo . “He’s on the run. He’s an important witness. He needs to be granted immunity to be able to testify and tell his story.”

Monday’s charges add to the laundry list of alleged crimes Luft is accused of—including a 2016 scheme to “recruit and pay” a White House adviser to support China-friendly policies without first filing as a foreign agent.

According to a release from the Justice Department, Luft is also accused of brokering arms deals with Chinese businesses to sell their wares in places such as the United Arab Emirates, Kenya and Libya—all without a valid U.S. license. Federal authorities allege that they have proof Luft hawked anti-tank launchers, grenade launchers, mortar rounds, aerial bombs, rockets and even drones.

To make matters worse, Justice Department prosecutors say he lied to them during interviews about the alleged scheme.

“During a voluntary interview with U.S. law enforcement in which he was asked questions about his involvement in arms trafficking, LUFT made multiple false statements, including that he had not sought to engage in or profit from arms deals,” the department’s statement reads.

Luft is also accused of brokering deals for Iranian oil—which he falsely labeled “Brazilian”—in violation of U.S. sanctions.

In all, Luft faces 36 charges that carry a maximum of 100 years in prison, according to the Justice Department.

The conservative mindset/worldview revolves around getting their way no matter the means used. Lying, for them, is just another valid tactic. Trump, Green, Santos, Boebert, Gaetz, Jordan, etc..., etc..., etc,... all lie and use propaganda as easily as a fish swims. Their base (christians) have been lied to from birth and have come to accept lies over truth even if they actually do know the difference.

What happened was that Romney only released a couple years of his taxes whereas previous candidates released 5. Democrats assumed there was a bad story there and wanted to expose it. Reid said that Romney won't release the info because Romney didn't pay any taxes. This forced Romney to release his taxes. It was a tactic, Reid took the hit for the Obama team. That's all I remember, not releasing taxes seems to be a Republican thing. Trump did the same thing. Trump did it because the taxes ultimately showed that he wasn't doing well.

The Party that claimed to have proof--definitive proof--of Trump/Russia collusion? LMMFAO!

The Mueller collusion with Russia investigation convicted five people (list below) of lying to the FBI. Four of them lied to the FBI about contact with Russians. When you elect someone as corrupt as Trump and give him the power to pardon accomplices, you can certainly celebrate their impunity, but is that a value you want to instill in your kids or support in general?

We don’t know if Trump or his people colluded with Russia because they were able to lie with impunity:
George Papadopolous- Lying about contacts with Russians [pardoned by Trump]
Rick Gates - Conspiracy against the US for lying
Michael Flynn - Lying to FBI about contact with Russians [pardoned by Trump]
Paul Manafort - Convicted for bank & tax fraud, also shown by judge to be lying about contact with Russians [pardoned by Trump]
Roger Stone - Lying to Congress, obstruction of justice [pardoned by Trump]

Lol. When you have to resort to Flynn being convicted for discussing sanctions on Israel l l with the Russian ambassador after the election to dry and manufacture some implication of collusion of you've lost the argument.

Not to mention including witnesses who cooperated with Mueller....

And of course George Papadopolous lied about the timing of a conversation with a Maltese Professor, not "russians."

And of course, the fact that witnesses were convicted of lying directly repudiates your claim they could "lie with impunity." They, as you demonstrate, could not.

We do know about some of Trump's 2016 campaign manager Manafort and his associate's efforts to collude with Russia regarding the campaign.  That has been well-documented.

Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign chairman Paul Manafort on Monday publicly admitted that he gave polling data to Konstantin Kilimnik, a suspected Russian intelligence asset. The U.S. Treasury Department says the data—which it described as “sensitive information on polling and campaign strategy”—was then passed to Russian intelligence services.

Of course, there are some who will continue to parrot Trump's "no collusion" propaganda, but their propagandistic drivel is recognized as having no credibility.

By all means prove Manafort and Russia engaged in collusion, satisfying the Blacks Law dictionary definition cited by Mueller "collusion is “[a]n agreement to defraud another or to do or obtain
something forbidden by law" Given that Mueller expressly found:

"the investigation did not establish that the contacts described in Volume I, Section IV, supra, amounted to an agreement to commit any substantive violation of federal criminal law—including foreign-influence and campaign-finance laws, "

So let's see the expertise that Mueller and team lacked. Prove they engaged in collusion without engaging in a conspiracy.
