Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) has had just about enough of Congress and its unwillingness to handle the increasing amount of debt, and now she's threatening to throw herself on the sword and resign.
In a dramatic statement from her office on Capitol Hill, Spartz, currently serving her second term as a United States representative, has made clear her displeasure with how her fellow representatives, seemingly of both parties, are dealing with — or not dealing with — the mounting national debt. Spartz released the following statement entitled "Spartz Will Consider Resigning Congress if No Debt Commission Passed this Year":
I've done many very difficult things being one woman standing many times with many very long hours and personal sacrifices, but there is a limitation to human capacity. If Congress does not pass a debt commission this year to move the needle on the crushing national debt and inflation, at least at the next debt ceiling increase at the end of 2024, I will not continue sacrificing my children for this circus with a complete absence of leadership, vision, and spine. I cannot save this Republic alone.
Over the weekend, the House passed a 45-day stopgap spending bill to keep the federal government open and funded, punting a long-term deal until late November. Spartz did not support the measure, and issued a statement expressing her lack of confidence in both parties as well as Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), whom she called "weak," adding: "Our founding fathers would be rolling over in their graves to see how this institution is betraying our Republic for personal political ambitions and our children will be ashamed of another worthless Congress."

Hopefully the door will hit her in the ass on her way out.
Why?
What's wrong with setting up a group to figure out ways to reduce the debt?
Is she the only person in the country who speaks up about the debt? She seems to think she is.
Of course not. She's newsworthy because she's the only person apparently willing to resign over it.
How does she "seem to think she is"?
Good for her for being an adult and trying to wake people up to the elephant in the room. That's what leaders do. Not cry Nazi and take naps. Interest rates continue to go up, causing our debt service costs to sky rocket. Democrats obviously don't understand money or inflation and just think the government can print money forever without any consequence. They live in magic land where increasing deficits and spending unlimited money on illegal aliens have no repercussions and aren't important. Pronouns and mutilating children are their primary focus.
When social security gets cut in ten years because we can't afford to borrow more money, the party of Biden and infinite money will throw their hands up and blame corporate greed, but it's their own recklessness and refusal to even admit the problem exists that is to blame, as John's post makes clear.
Ok, lets raise taxes.
The deeper we get into AI, robots, etc , and an economic system that concentrates wealth, the more we will need an expanded welfare state. Get used to it.
What's Biden's proposal? Good luck raising a trillion dollars a year by raising taxes.
e more we will need an expanded welfare state. Get used to it.
Do you not understand we can't afford the welfare state we have now? We are borrowing 2 trillion dollars this year, with no real war, no pandemic, no recession etc... It's unsustainable.
The national debt is not an emergency and unless the dollar is no longer the worlds currency standard it never will be.
Neither is global warming.
But if you don't start working on it now...........
If you don't care about social security and other entitlements, the economy and people's well being then no, it's not. Just keep making people poorer and don't worry about it. .
Well things never change and what's true today will undoubtedly be true in 5, 10, 25 years...
Buh Bye! I bet she said not one word when tRump added 8T to the debt in just 4 years.
Tell us again when she was elected?
Tell us again where I said she was?
Bidenomics in action:
Bye Felicia...
