Nikki Haley starts crying while discussing her husband, who is deployed overseas: "I wish Michael was here today."
I wish Michael was here today, and I wish our children, and I could see him tonight, but we can't. He's serving on the other side of the world, where conflict is the norm, where terrorists hide among the innocent, where Iran's terrorist proxies are now attacking American troops. This is Michael's second deployment. It was hard for us to say goodbye to him the first time when he deployed to Afghanistan. It was even harder last summer when he deployed to Africa. As every military family knows, whe

2024 Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley on Tuesday broke into tears while discussing her husband, who is deployed overseas with the National Guard.

"I wish Michael was here today, and I wish our children and I could see him tonight, but we can't," Haley said while delivering remarks in Greenville, South Carolina. "He's serving on the other side of the world, where conflict is the norm, where terrorists hide among the innocent, where Iran's terrorist proxies are now attacking American troops.

"This is Michael's second deployment. It was hard for us to say goodbye to him the first time, when he deployed to Afghanistan. It was even harder last summer when he deployed to Africa."

The former South Carolina governor has often spoken of her husband's military service, but the emotional moment comes after repeated attacks from former President Donald Trump, who has mocked her husband for not being with her on the campaign trail and suggested he went overseas to get away from his wife.

"The kids and I know why Michael went: He stepped up to keep us safe — and not just us. He stepped up to defend our nation's freedom and our way of life," Haley said. "Michael is fighting for the country he loves. So are all of his brothers and sisters in arms, wherever they're stationed in this dangerous world."

A clear reaction to Trump's endless belittlement of our military.

Mr. bone spurs should never be commander and chief.

His disdain for the military is well documented.

He calls those who fought and died "losers."

Yep. Biden was a wide receiver in high school and played halfback on his college team.

Trump played squash in college.

Trump was known for hiring smart kids to do his homework and take his tests.

Several of Trump's professors say he was the dumbest kid in class.

So a guy with asthma still competes?

Sounds like a man I'd like to know.

And Trump was disqualified due to non-existent bone spurs.

You must love Trump. A guy with bone spurs who still played baseball in high school.  A real hero.

Poor Asthma Joe had to quit football, not because of the supposed  asthma that let him play football and that he used to get him  out of the draft, but because his grades were so terrible.

That helps explain the brain damage.  Thanks

What a piece of shit. How can people continue to support this asshole who freely attacks people who serve?

Back in the day as they say, someone who said, according to a credible source, that dead American soldiers were suckers and losers would have been automatically disqualified in voter's minds, not only from the presidency but from any office. But we're not back in the day any longer. We're in a different place. A degraded place.

Because the alternative is this.

Remember Brandon had National Guardsmen that were called into DC sleeping on the ground outside, in parking garages, and on the Capitol floor?

Remember Brandon looking at his watch not once; but several times while attending a service for returning military kill in action during the Afghanistan withdrawal? He also didn't know anything about any of the Gold Star mothers in attendance that day. Seems they weren't important enough to be on his docket of things to learn.

The family ultimately decided to go onto the tarmac, where Biden checked his watch multiple times.

"It was just total disrespect," Barnett said. "It's beyond disgusting."

Raddatz recalled a prominent moment during Biden's exit, where someone in the crowd screamed, "Burn in hell."

"That was my daughter," Barnett said. "And she meant it."

How could anyone vote for someone who shows such a total disrespect for our military and their family not just in words; but in actions?

Oh I would guess that any politician could always be better with our people. But they reach a whole other level when they repeatedly just talk shit about them. Only Trump does that.

Biden received five student draft deferments, first as an undergraduate at the University of Delaware and later as a law student at Syracuse University.

And after a medical exam in April 1968, he received the "1-Y" classification, which meant he could only be drafted in a national emergency.

Fact check: Biden received multiple draft deferments from Vietnam (usatoday.com)
