True Christians should be appalled by this woman
Good luck with that.
She doesn't perform many good works, that's why she wants to belittle the importance of them
Whoa! My former priest would throw a shoe doused in holy water at her.
Faith is dead without good works
Justification by faith alone is a standard Protestant concept. Odd that Boebert is more informed about theology than her critics who are apparently shocked by this.
Was she doing a good work while she was fondling her boyfriend in public ?
Shouldn't elected officials be in favor of good works ?
She should keep her deepest faith to herself.
Did she say she was?
Shouldn't elected officials be in favor of good works ?
Did she say she wasn't?
Maybe more people should talk about the very basic concepts of their faith so situations like this don't arise. Simply mentioning basic theology shouldn't cause a freak out.
I actually knew before I posted this that her evangelical faith doesn't believe that good works save but I posted it anyway because she's giving bad advice to people who don't know anything about her particular sect
her role as an elected official in Congress is not to evangelize Christian nationalism
Most people don't like to be preached at

“Literally the Opposite of What Jesus Said”— Lauren Boebert Claims God Isn’t Pleased With Good “Works,” Only Faith
Move over “Love thy neighbor,” the golden rule, and the Parable of the Good Samaritan, theologian Lauren Boebert has spoken. On a recent livestream, Boebert quoted a scripture from 1 Timothy and then opined that God is not pleased with works, but only faith.
Online reactions pointed out this pretty much misses the point. Essentially, the Bible teaches humans put their faith in God and are expected to have good works as a result of that faith.
One theme across the entirety of the Bible is the calling out of those who claim faith in God, but don’t have good works resulting from it. There are myriad of verses rebuking religious people for professing faith, but then ignoring commandments not to exploit the poor and the needy.
Boebert’s comments faced strong reaction online.
Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady stated that Boebert’s comment is “literally the opposite of …what Jesus said.”
A self described lapsed Presbyterian noted that Boebert assessment was incorrect, quoting Jesus’ teaching in the gospel of Matthew that you will know his followers by their fruits, that is, their works.
Many Twitter users quoted verses from James, a book in the Bible with a strong section on works. “Kara B” quoted a passage from James 2 stating that telling a person who needs clothes or food to go and be filled and blessed without meeting their physical need is insufficient faith.
Many others, including Democratic strategist Jesse Ferguson pointed out that the Bible teaches in James that “faith without works is dead.”
Another person quoted a verse from Hebrews 13:16 saying God is pleased when we do good works and share with others, contradicting Boebert’s claims.
Wayne Cullen quoted another verse contradicting Boebert. This one is from Titus 1:16 and says a person can profess to know God yet deny God with their works, becoming themselves detestable. Quite the opposite of what Boebert claims.
This person implied that Moses presented God’s 10 commandments because God is concerned with more than just a personal faith.
Another commenter said it’s weird for God not to care about serial killers as long as they believe.
Another wrote that it’s “terrifying” that “these people are making decisions in government.”
It’s true. Boebert is making governmental decisions and voting based on her theology. Boebert has voted against baby formula, food security, the child tax credit, victims of toxic burns pits, and bills that would provide economic prosperity to those who need it. One could argue that Boebert’s theology on works impacts her legislation and well as her personal life.
