@CavsBikeBaby
How blatantly Stephen A Smith discredits Caitlin Clark because of her being white is hilarious lol

@stillTRPE
·

The writing is on the wall that the WNBA & its athletes are about to grossly miscalculate this Caitlin Clark play to their own detriment and ruin the only chance they have to get in the black bc everyone is mad that the women’s basketball messiah came in the form of a white woman

@muzicjunkie23
·

A lot of Black men have a lot of love for Caitlin Clark. Very v interesting bc the league is made up of about 70% Black women, and I really don’t remember such an outpouring of support for them in my lifetime. Yeah. Weakest links as usual.

==========================

@Iknowsowha

Caitlin Clark is the great white hope. White people are flocking to her because she makes them feel they and their children can cheer one of their own, someone who can beat "them".

=====================================================================================

There are few instances in modern day championship team sports that offer the stark contrast that tonights NCAA quarterfinal game between Iowa and LSU does.  Simply put, Iowa is an almost all white women's basketball team, and LSU is a virtually all black team. The same two teams played in last years championship game, and the racial element was there then, but is even more emphasized this time because Caitlin Clark has been anointed the greatest woman player of all time, which gets a lot of black noses out of joint. How dare anyone say a white basketball player (of either sex) is the greatest of all time ? The last time that was demonstrably true was probably around 1950.

Angel Reese, the star player for LSU has pretty openly derided Clark, perhaps out of jealously, perhaps because she feels overlooked in the pecking order, but the racial undertones are unmistakable.

The thing that makes all this the most interesting is that Clark likely is the greatest woman basketball player of all time . She can both dribble the ball between her legs and behind her back while under pressure , but also get a lot of rebounds, make crazily good passes , and hit 30 foot jumpers.

Iowa games this year have broken all tv records for viewership of college women's games. Ask ourselves the question , would all these people be watching these games if Clark was black?

Has to be the stupidest and most racist thing printed this year. Given Brandon and Trump are in full blown liar mode for the upcoming general election- that is saying a lot.

That is like saying the only reason that blacks started watching golf was Tiger Woods; and female tennis because of the Williams sisters.

Nothing like demeaning talented professionals; or the fans that watch them- simply based on race.

I actually like Clark and she is one of the greatest college players ever. Nor am I saying that "black" critiques of Clark and Iowa are appropriate.

However , if you think that television records for viewership of womens sports would have been broken this year if the face of the game was Angel Reese instead of Caitlin Clark you are dreaming.

So you do agree that the only reason blacks started to watch golf was Tiger Woods; and female tennis is because of the Williams sisters.

Forget the fact that the majority of Woods' fans are white; same with the Williams sisters.

Sometimes a generational talent like MJ, Brady, and probably Mahomes- comes along and draws in fans that had stopped watching the game; and brings in a whole new set of fans.

Has nothing to do with the color of their skin. It has everything to do with their talent, demeanor, and the fact they can elevate not just their own play- but their teammates and opponents as well. They find new ways to win, and make plays that are on hilite reals every week.

Take it from a very ex stick think, fast but not agile, geek kid that pretended to be Lynn Swann every time he played football. Had nothing to do with the color of his skin. It has everything to do with his body control, athleticism, and catches that made the news every week.

And best of all, she doesn't seem to be covered in tattoos.

Yeah, the NBA tanked after Larry Bird retired. Imagine thinking a black guy like Michael Jordan could carry the league to record popularity.

It is, in fact, a tough question. The difficulty resides in the fact that "race" is a social construct, but often treated like a biological one.

Once again, America shows that many here can't see past color.  Instead of being happy for the the publicity the sport is enjoying or the thrill of watching an exciting player, among a dozen or so, they bring it down and make it about race.

I watch less and less sports these days because the college traditions and the professional players health are sacrificed by the need for more league money, but I'll be watching LSU-Iowa tonight in the big-eight.  It is a great match-up and a rematch from last years final.  Clark and Reese are exciting players and have been competing against each other since before college.

I watch more woman's collage ball than men because their is more player continuity and greater teamwork than on the men's game.

I think that Clark would have star power regardless of the amount of melanin in her skin.

"Basketball and race" is a fascinating subject. In America, basketball is primarily Black. Serbia and Lithuania are lily-white.

"Why" is not simple....

Interesting conversation. It demonstrates how "race" permeates American society. Everyone "knows" everything about the topic.

Not the same thing, of course.

They don’t give a shit, they just want hits.

A real story is how once again the NCAA has fucked woman sports, from the 3 point line in Portland, send Utah to a distant, racist city in Idaho, to several games with unprofessional officiating.  The NCAA continues to dis woman athletics.  Sexism is the issue here, not racism.
