Elon Musk is reportedly poised to become "the most powerful civilian ever" in U.S. history
"X makes Fox News seem like a quaint little pamphlet in size, scope and right-wing tilt," they continued, with "[v]irtually every powerful voice in the Trump media ecosystem congregates on X — where their reality, whether tethered to facts or fiction, are set. X will be the prosecutor, defender, jury and judge of Trump governance."

Elon Musk is reportedly poised to become "the most powerful civilian ever" in American history, according to a new report by Axios about President-elect Donald Trump's plans for his second term.

The SpaceX and Tesla CEO emerged as one of Trump's most prominent supporters during the campaign — appearing at rallies with him, buying Twitter and reshaping it into the MAGA-friendlyplatform X — including amplifying pro-Trump misinformation — and pouring millions of dollars into a pro-Trump PAC. Trump effusively sang Musk's praises in his victory speech in the early morning hours Wednesday, calling him a "super genius" and "star."

The report by Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen at Axios highlighted Musk's status as Trump's "most influential backer" who "now sits at the pinnacle of power in business, government influence and global information (and misinformation) flow."

Musk's immense wealth connected to his support for the winning presidential candidate mean that his "power" is now "unmatched," VandeHei and Allen wrote, because of his "information control" over "the most powerful information platform for America's ruling party."

And Musk's influence on the second Trump White House won't just be from the outside in, the Axios report noted:

Musk is helping staff the top ranks of the incoming White House and will run an unregulated entity to recommend ways to cut and reorganize government. Name another American figure with this kind of political juice.

Musk's business interests are massively dependent on the U.S. government. Tesla benefits heavily from government policies incentivizing electric vehicles and limiting regulation, and SpaceX has positioned itself to have not only a key role in space travel in partnership with NASA but also what Axios described as a "virtual global monopoly on satellites." Musk having any sort of official government role "creates conflicts of interest at an epic scale," reported Axios, "[b]ut it's hard to see the Trump White House caring, or Musk letting it slow him down. And, when you control a big chunk of the information flow, you get to shape how lots of people view it, anyway."

Musk does not belong in government. He has repeatedly spread conspiracy theories to millions of people.  Again, this is not opinion.

His mother is a delusional weirdo also.  I guess the freakshow didn't fall too far from the freakshow tree.

Nature or nurture?

Do you really believe he'll get away with telling Trump what to do? Musk has served his purpose and is eligible for the same exit as the Generals Against Trump - all of them ego-freaks.

Now that would be interesting 'split' to see take place. As interesting as the 'marriage.' But, I won't be holding my breath waiting for it.

Left wingers bitching about Twitter after spending the last few years colluding with traditional media to suppress accurate stories about the Biden laptop, to hide Biden's mental incapacity for years, to call the lab leak theory a conspiracy theory etc..is pretty rich.

They just a want to return to a world where a handful of democrat controlled media set the narratives and ignored any that hurt Democrats.

The left didn't have a problem with Twitter before musk. You know, when it was an instrument of the DNC.

Musk bought twitter and cut 80% of it’s workforce. Twitter never lost a step. In fact it’s better than it was because now it allows diverse thought. I’d love to see how much $ musk can save the US taxpayer.

Musk has repeatedly spread conspiracy theories , often having already been warned about it.  He certainly does not belong in government.

Prophesy, prognostication, fortune telling, projection. To be expected, I suppose, but wouldn't it be wiser to simply see what develops? Right now, so many seem hell-bent on creating paper mâché dragons, as if they want to shape people's perceptions of things that haven't even happened. As if, whatever happens, they will react to it according to those creations rather than what may actually develop. Poisoning the well before anyone actually gets to taste the water, so to speak.

I am worried about what Trump may do, but I'm going to wait and see what he actually does and then judge for myself.

And pass up the chance to complain about it if it never happens? Surely you jest.

Concerning the article's treatment of Musk. Meh. Tell me Soros hasn't been doing the same thing for a lot longer.

That said, I hope whatever he does doesn't distract him from SpaceX. That needs to be his main focus.

His main focus is wanting to be king of the world.

Why do you think that?

Soros is nothing like musk.   He has been doing nothing of the kind.

Just defense of the indefensible

Elon Musk was already the most powerful private citizen. He holds the highest security clearance as he has numerous Military contracts and Nasa contracts.  His company Space X remains privately held to ensure the disclosures remain private. He sends most of the US spy satellites in orbit now. His rocket tech is being used to update our Nuclear arsenal. No matter what News organizations say or politicians mumble, he has the government by the chin.
