CNN Guest Equates Trump to ‘Republican Caesar’ for Trotting Out MAGA Stars at UFC Event: ‘Really Looks Like Ancient Rome’

CNN panelist and Politico reporter Marc Caputo said Sunday morning that images of President-elect Donald Trump surrounded by MAGA stars at Saturday's UFC 309 reminded him of ancient Rome.

Caputo likened Trump to a "Republican Caesar" who transformed New York's Madison Square Garden into a modern-day Colosseum in front of MMA fans and supporters.

Trump attended the UFC event with Elon Musk, Tulsi Gabbard, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and other darlings of the right. The incoming commander-in-chief also got a shoutout and a title belt from Jon "Bones" Jones, who knocked out Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight championship.

On Inside Politics, host Manu Raju noted Trump had announced some controversial cabinet appointments and asked if Republicans in Congress had the political standing to oppose them.

Panelist Astead Herndon said Trump had elevated people such as Matt Gaetz, Tulsi Gabbard, and Robert F. Kennedy to superstars who his voters might want more of.

"If you're a Republican voting to block one of these cabinet nominees because you say you don't like Tulsi Gabbard, how do you expend the political capital and the risk, the backlash from Trump," Raju said. "It's going to be very difficult for them and Trump knows that."

Herndon replied, "He is frankly giving, I think, supporter-base permission structure. And he's made these folks stars over the course of this campaign." Caputo replied:

Yeah. I mean, and it really looks like ancient Rome here, this is sort of the conquering Republican Caesar who's going into the Colosseum and everyone's cheering, and he's got his political gladiators with him. That appearance isn't just about him enjoying the applause. He's sending a message to the Senate. Like, not only are you entertained, but these are my people and are you willing to fight? Because here's who I have.

Our new president is more interested in seeing people get beat up than he is in reading books.   Idiocracy.

Cry us a river...

"Yes, Harris’ campaign paid Oprah Winfrey’s production company $1 million. Oprah says it was to cover the production costs of the town hall event that her company organized and that she did not personally take any money."

no value

Nothing about this event was illegal, immoral, or improper about Trump going to a UFC event with some of his key people.

“Until Trump does something wrong STFU once and for all!”

Interesting take, given the myriad self-inflicted transgressions. Save your breath in denying the facts, as it has become so ridiculously redundant to be irrelevant.

So taking your admonition to ‘STFU once and for all’ is the only cogent argument made, if one could only understand the irony.

Who said its a scandal?    This is what Trump is, a Caesar in his own mind, and in the mind of his brainwashed "bros".
