Musk is a serial conspiracy theorist who has been utterly careless about facts since the day he bought Twitter.  He also spread many many conspiracy theories. But this is the person who we should take his word for about the government ?

Elon Musk Admits He Was Wrong About Gaza Condoms Claim

Alex Griffing 3-3 minutes   2/11/2025

Elon Musk  acknowledged on Tuesday that he was incorrect to claim that the U.S. had planned to spend $50 million on condoms for Gaza when asked by a reporter.

“Mr. Musk, you said on X. That’s an example of the fraud that you have cited. Was $50 million of condoms were sent to Gaza. But after fact-checks on this. Apparently, Gaza in Mozambique, and the program was to protect them against HIV. So can you correct that statement?” a reporter asked Musk, who recently changed his name on X to “Harry Bolz,” as he took questions in the Oval Office.

“It wasn’t sent to Hamas. Actually, it was sent to Mozambique, which makes sense why condoms were sent there. And how can we make sure that all the statements that you said were correct so we can trust what you say?” added the reporter.

“Well, first of all, some of the things that I say will be incorrect and should be corrected. So nobody’s going to bat a 1,000. I mean, any, you know we will make mistakes, but we’ll act quickly to correct any mistakes,”  Musk  replied, adding:

Trump upped the figure to 100 million, for no reason at all, and still hasn't corrected it.

Sadly, Trump and his administration will never pay a price for lying because his base, the ones who voted him in, his sycophant ball sweat lickers are too busy trying to please him to be worried about what they consider "little white lies" or exaggerations because their dear Leader is a showman. Hell, many now expect his lies and cheer even more the bigger and crazier the lie is! They sit their chuckling to themselves through their missing teeth about how the Trump "Lie du jour" is going to "Own the libs!" which is really all they're concerned about these days.

Bull. That false statement came out weeks ago and he's only correcting himself now because he got called out on it

No, I'm embarrassed for those who make it so easy. Whataboutism  works  to counter hypocritical arguments, and brother, let me tell you how many there are here. Step up your game and learn to make an argument more thought out than "Republican bad, Democrat good"  if it bothers you.

Lol - I literally can’t remember ever seeing you say something good about democrats, or something bad about Trump subservient republicans.  You are living in a world of your own imagination.

And he even apologized for getting it wrong.  Why are the $50 million American tax dollars be spent on sending condoms to Mozambique?  jrSmiley_78_smiley_image.gif

Along that line and with recent developments, why is $50million worth of anything going anywhere?

Generally these things are for political purposes. Giving aid to a country often greases wheels for military and/or business access. Which aid packages are worth what we pay should be assessed by the House in Congress when agencies submit their budget requests. Taking a chainsaw to these packages will have consequences.

Out of a fifty million dollar aid package I doubt the $25 box of condoms is missed nearly as much as the food and medicine.

Without knowing specifics there is no way of drawing informed conclusions. It might be wasteful, it might not be. I'm not going to speculate.

Is it? Why do pretty much all of the richer developed countries provide aid to refugees of wars and disaster victims and give humanitarian assistance where needed? Hell, why did Canada and Mexico help out with California wildfires? Because when people could have easily helped and did not we regret it. When children starved and died for lack of medicine, we regretted it. When refugees fleeing fascism were sent back to die in death camps we regretted it. When thousands were slaughtered in Kosovo and Uganda and we did nothing, we regretted it...

Choosing to either help our people in need or their people in need is not really the point when we can and should do both.

I do not know, but I do know for sure that out a multi million dollar humanitarian aid package that the miniscule amount which was allocated for condoms was insignificant. Do you really believe the United States of America sent them whole cargo ships full of nothing but condoms? Can you even imagine what fifty million dollars of condoms looks like?? How gullible are people?

It wasn’t sent to Hamas. Actually, it was sent to Mozambique

A fundamental problem with the DOGE purge is that they never bother to ask why money is being spent. They just spot a bunch of money going to a country they could never find on a map and declare, in full ignorance, that it’s all so outrageous and corrupt.

It’s fine if you don’t think we should spend money in Mozambique, but at least know what you’re talking about before you object and cut off funding. Have a reason for stopping it, and know what the reason is for spending money in the first place. A lot of thought went into our mission in Mozambique, and yes, there is a mission.

The U.S. Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability 10-Year Plan for Mozambique 2022-2032

It seems ISIS set up shop there some years back and we are trying to improve the public health and economy of Mozambique as part of a strategy to push the extremists and terrorists out of the country. That is, at least arguably , in the national interest.
