Trump Doubles Down On Ominous Napoleon Quote

President Donald Trump once again shared an ominous quote from Napoleon Bonaparte in an apparent defense of his refusal to acknowledge court rulings that would otherwise halt his executive orders.
On Sunday Trump posted a screengrab of a tweet from X by conservative writer Logan Hall, who shared the quote in response to a news report about a Rhode Island judge accusing the Trump administration of "defying" its court order stopping his federal funding freeze.
The doubling down came one day after Trump posted a version of the quote himself without attribution to Truth Social and X: "He who saves his Country does not violate any Law." The quote is reportedly a line from the 1970 film Waterloo about the French dictator as he justifies his absolute rule.
Trump's repost on Sunday, however, appeared to signal more clearly than the previous post - made without context - that the president would not be backing down in defiance of judicial rulings as a matter of purpose.
In just the past few weeks, federal courts have blocked Trump's efforts to slash funding, birthright citizenship and purge of federal workers.
This apparent rejection of judicial oversight, however, and in a move that has alarmed conservative and liberal commentators alike, Trump and his team have gone on the offensive and railed against the judges who have ruled against the orders. Vice President JD Vance further ignited alarm by commenting that "judges aren't allowed to control the executive's legitimate power."
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt then accused the media of "fear mongering" about a constitutional crisis.

He is unwittingly giving a legal defense to anyone who tries to do him harm.
It strikes me the courts should take Trump seriously. . . Courts should save our country from the wiles and duplicitous actions of a burgeoning dictator.
That's why these Illegal judicial orders will be rejected on appeal to the higher courts.
Trump is way ahead of the left and their activist judges, wanting these test cases overturned now and see how the higher courts regard his presidential powers and how he is applying them.
