The US defense secretary seems to think that Putins invasion of Ukraine was defensible, in the Nov 2024 interview clip.

Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, dismisses the danger of Putin invading other Eastern European countries if he isn't stopped in Ukraine: “It feels like Putin’s give me my shit back war…We used to have the Soviet Union, and Ukraine was part of it, and I want my shit back.”

Between Putin, Trump, and Xi, I think the largest snowflake would have to be Trump. Then you look at all of the very real outrage that comes from his administration and see that the whole thing can melt into a big, messy puddle.

Brother Thomas, the biggest snowflakes, plural, will be the rest of the citizens of this country not already captivated by Trump, if we can not navigate our way out of his lap! Trump knows exactly what he is doing and that is orienting this country to a love for his worldview (alone)—with the help of his many friends. BTW, where is Chairman Kim Jung Un. . . no saber rattling or even acknowledgement of the 'new' leader/friend in the White House. Things that make you go hmmm.

Actually, if one does not kiss his ring, one has no space in the control structure, and one is therefore of no consequence. So I would contend that he is not orienting the country, he is orienting the government with his view of how a government should be and telling everybody this is the way it will be.

Agreed. Now consider this, Trump is intentionally 'bothering' the blue states (such as Maine and its governor) by indicating that if she does not go along with his policy against transfemales in female sports. . . he, MAGA, and Elon Musk will campaign to cause her to lose Maine's primary election. . .threatening to wash her up in politics and then (by implication) proceed to take the state away (Musk's money) from democrats. California is under 'threat' similarly due to its exposure to wildfire in SoCal.

Democrats have to realize this president, Musk, and MAGA are engaging in guerilla-styled political warfare and 'get at' it in earnest themselves. The GOP is playing for 'Keeps.' To permanently handicap and put on the disabled list the Democratic Party.

He's probably not going much deeper into Europe. (Emphasis added)

Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia used to be part of the Soviet Union. Is Hegseth cool with Putin taking them back?  Unfortunately, we already know the answer.

Yes, the answer is 'whatever Trump says'.

Sure seems that way with Trump out there parroting Putin's talking points like the buffoon he is.

Trump takes his instructions from Putin.  They talk often and it's not about the weather.

Trump is being manipulated by Putin and he is too stupid to realize it.  He is like a dog anticipating a treat, stroke his ego and he will be your best friend.
