Trees - They're about to get colorful.
Some of you here on NT are fellow Michiganders and know the beauty that Michigan has; especially as the weather begins to grow colder and the leaves begin to change. I've seen photos from various states; many from Pennsylvania, Maine, and other New England states, and Colorado. We're going to start seeing more fall colors soon. One of my favorite trees however, is not attractive in the fall, not at all. I love the Northern Catalpa with it's deep green heart-shaped leaves throughout the summer following white flowers in the spring.
I love being deep in a birch forest in the UP; there's something about the contrasting colors of the white bark, green leaves, and dark soil and shadows.
I love the smell of blooms from a Purple Robe Locust, but they are called a Locust tree for a reason. My understanding is that the different locust trees are great for those looking to get into bee-keeping, more specifically if they want really delicious honey.

Another tree I just love, but it's not the easiest to find even though it's perfect for city / places with less-than-desirable soil, is the weeping Japanese pagoda tree (aka Sophora japonica ‘Pendula’).
Last, but certainly not least; I'd like to have a couple "Hinoki Cypress" for my front yard. The coloring [up close] is amazing.
The following photos are not taken by me, but are either posted publicly on Pintrest or Michigan.org.

Are you a tree fan?
**NO POLITICS**
Fall is now upon us...
Show me your plumage!
Not until at LEAST dinner and a movie............oh. Wait. You meant trees. Okay BRB LOL I'll have to find some pics of my back yard..............
I knew it was gonna happen.
Ok, here it is. I only do this for NT friends. That is a true story.
You shape shifting again, Kavika ?
LOL, indeed I am, pat.
I'm in Florida and fall hasn't arrived yet and no trees have started to change colors. I have a Florida maple and yes, it does change colors.
This is what I love and there will be some going into my backyard when the renovation is finished
The Phoenix Robellinni also known as the pygmy date palm. Max height is 10 feet and it is slow growing and does produce fruit.
Photo is off the internet. Mine won't be ready for photos for a couple of months.
I think palms are so calming and whimsical. I love weeping type trees for the same reason.
Quaking Aspen
So beautiful and SO TALL! I love them too, but I can't have one in my yard. I want more trees in my yard that won't heave my fence! Maples and Oaks get too big around but easily grow here; we had to cut down a maple in our neighbor's yard (with their permission of course) because it was actually growing on the property line and started heaving our brand new vinyl fence.
Red Oak I like they way many oaks hold onto their leaves for most of the winter
Wow... Look at that RED!
Coast Redwoods, Giant Sequoia, and Dawn Redwood
I've always wanted to make my way to the northwest just to take a stroll through the forests with giant trees.
We visited the Sequoia grove just south of Yosemite...both the valley and trees are awe inspiring
The colours of Autumn in Michigan are certainly no different from those in Canada. Although when I first came to China and lived in a north-central region there were bushes and trees that became colourful in the Fall, like these...
Where I am now in south-western China, it is more tropical, and there is very little Autumn colour.
So I guess I'm forced to live with trees like there....
But wait a sec...maybe I spoke too soon....
OH! Look there!
Very pretty. I do like many of the northern Asian trees and other foliage.
And yes, MI and Canada have a lot of similarities in foliage.
