'Wow!': NBC's Kristen Welker Shocked By New 'Truly Stunning' Biden-Trump Poll
By: Lee Moran (Huffpost via Yahoo News)
Wow! That pretty much sums it up. Even unbiased liberal journalists are concerned they won't be about to spin this. Throwing Trump muck certainly hasn't helped Biden. And reporting Biden's landslide victory in South Carolina (with almost non-existent turnout) is so over the top as to be laughable.
Whether or not the 2020 election was stolen, Joe Biden was installed as President. Joe Biden really is the incumbent in the 2024 election. Don't act surprised that the 2024 election will be a referendum on Biden.
NBC News' Kristen Welker, on Sunday's broadcast of "Meet The Press," expressed her surprise at new polling over a potential 2024 election between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.
They involved "some truly stunning numbers," she told colleague Steve Kornacki.
"They really are," Kornacki agreed. "When you ask folks, 'Hey, if it's the general election and it's Trump versus Biden,' in our poll, Donald Trump now leads Joe Biden by five points. Compare that to the last time we pulled back in November. Trump was ahead then, but it was only by two points."
"It's even more significant when you look at it this way," he added. "Over time, we have been testing for five years now, going back to 201—a Biden-Trump match-up. Remember 2019, 2020 Joe Biden led. He led big in every single one of our polls. For the first time in November, Donald Trump pulled ahead in our poll. And now, at five points, this is the biggest lead NBC has ever had in 16 polls for Donald Trump over Joe Biden."
Biden's approval rating was now 37% in favor and 60% disapproved, Kornacki noted.
It's "the lowest approval rating since former President George W. Bush's second term," said Welker.
On voters' confidence in handling the U.S. economy, Kornecki pointed to Trump's 55% rating and Biden's 33%.
Wow," said Welker.
Looks like the unbiased liberal press is being schooled on how incumbent reelections work. 2024 is a referendum on Biden and not Trump. What the unbiased liberal press doesn't seem to understand is that voter desire to kick Biden out of office is not an endorsement of Trump. Democrats rigging the election to be a contest between Biden and Trump won't necessarily save Biden.
Democrats have screwed the country by rigging the election again. Removing Biden means the country has to suffer another 4 years of Trump. And that's not going to protect Biden from voters' disappointment with his time in office.
Exactly how out of touch with the majority of Americans are our elite press?
For those that breath, live, and die by opinion polls, this is going to make a lot of pillow biters have kaniptions.
I don't think the spin masters are going to be able to do much because the voters are looking at other things , mainly being their own individual costs and savings, the ultimate question they will ask themselves in the end is are they better off now, than they were four years ago, and what has the last 3-4 years cost them.
Except abortion is still a very big issue for a lot of voters and the Republican party still doesn't want to do the will of the people. When over 70% of the electorate is "for something" it just makes no sense to me to push so hard against that something.
My response would be exactly what the supreme court ruled, Abortion is a state issue and you should vote for the state representative that most closely matches your beliefs on the issues.
Personally, on that issue I fall in the pro choice group, but being male, it's not an issue I have any skin in.
That being said , it's not a deciding issue I factor in.
I agree with what SCOTUS did, even RBG said it was a bad decision on their part in Roe v Wade. But Congress could have fixed this also.
Personally I hate the return to the 60's where it's a patchwork of laws over this. When over 70% of voters feel it should be legal I believe that Congress should have taken it up. Problem is we have a Congress that is loyal to their party and not to the American people.
Agreed. Especially as an over 60 (yeah, not saying how far) male, the odds that I would need one is really very low. I'm pro-choice like you are. And I agree, for me personally there are more important issues to think about as far as determining where my vote goes.
IMO there are still a lot of voters who are single-issue voters and abortion is a big issue. IMO the Republicans continue to shoot themselves in the foot over this issue.
LOL, do ya one better,
Over 60, no inclination of starting another family, and the plumbing is disconnected, zero chance here of being a contributing factor for the need for the procedure.
Except abortion
Then they should take it up with the state. As the SCOTUS made the right decision and determined is not a federal issue.
Republicans are plus 4 on the generic congressional ballot. There are plenty of issues like that where people Vote for a party even while disagreeing on a secondary issue. People who are really invested in abortion chose sides long ago so nothing has really changed
Do you know what else i find "funny" interesting about this issue, it's like the immigration issue democrats are putting forth a bill that they know republicans won't support while screaming that republicans don't want to do anything on immigration.
Where is the Senate bill on abortion?
Projection as usual. That's what the republican'ts/won'ts do.
Where again is the Democrats' Senate bill on abortion?
Same here.
The poll suggests that one can fool some of the Democrats some of the time, some of the Democrats all of the time, and some are just resistant to being bamboozled by Biden.
The border fiasco is rapidly becoming the dominant issue, perhaps even more so than the economy and abortion.
Biden has succeeded in pissing off and disappointing just about every demographic group.....Blacks, Hispanics, Christians, Jews, Muslima, young people, suburban women, and heaven knows what all....
And think of all the down ballot people he's going to drag down with him.
I must be an anomaly then, I don't let who is on the top of the ballot dictate how I will vote further down the ballot.
Past 4-5 presidential races I have voted 3rd party, but voted various parties down ballot depending on what office is being run and who the candidates are.
Nevermind, Trump's max is 45% of the vote which is Biden's based...
There is no path for Trump to win the Presidency after January 6th?
Your math is fuzzy. Care to explain your reasoning in detail? [deleted]
Nope, they counted the votes. Math! Biden WHOOPED Trump...
“Hardly anyone gives a shyt about J6…”
The defining moment of the Trump residency…
To ignore that reality is to ignore the ramifications of another possible term with nothing…absolutely nothing promised but retribution. And not limited just to the fear and hatred that that invokes, but most frightening, the not so veiled threats of violence against fellow citizens.
Everyone should give ‘a shyt’ .
It’s like deja vu all over again ….
except I don't think Trump was leading in any polls in 2016 or 2020..
Well, there is that ….
A republican hasn’t had a 5 point lead in an nbc poll since George bush in 2004.
Speaking of January 6th, why have the Democrats failed to provide information on the attempted assassination of our First African American Vice President.
What are you even talking about?
Imagine that, you know nothing about it. There was a pipe bomb(according to the FBI) placed at the DNC on Jan 6th which is where our new Vice President was present for some unknow reason. Funny how the J6th committee didn't really even address the biggest assassination attempt since Ronald Regan or JFK.
That's part of why I would like to see the evidence that the committee has not released. Very little was talked about the two pipe bombs other than the FBI was looking for information relating to... The committee was also supposed to look into other issues than just Trump, what happened to looking at Capital Security, the Capital Police, the calls for National Guard support...
But you're right. It was announced very early on that Harris was at that location, but that talk seemed to die down very quickly. There's just so much about that day that we still don't know.
Here are some items everyone should be concerned about, 1) the Geo Fence / Cell Phone data from the night before (Jan 5th) was corrupted and couldn't be used. 2) why wasn't this bomb detected by the Secret Service doing a swipe before Harris entered the DNC. 3) why was Harris even at the DNC on Jan 6th in the first place. 4) Why was the text message data from the secret service erased. 4) Why wasn't the supposed plain clothed Capital Police Officer who found the bomb praised and awarded for saving lives.
I kind of get the picture of American voters. I think they would probably elect Don Vito Corleone to be POTUS if he were on the ticket.
Your understanding of Americans appears to be sophomoric at best.
Being from afar, since it's been 16 years since I stepped foot in America, I can only judge from what I've been reading and seeing on news sites, including this one. Am I wrong to think that the political climate in America has changed during that time?
Of course not but if you are basing your picture of American voters,on places like this, your picture is extremely distorted.
Thanks for my first laugh out loud of the day.
IME, the internet is most always a very poor approximation of reality.
Yes Kristen, it is finally going to be a referendum election. Hiding in the basement won't help him this time.
