President Biden called House Speaker Mike Johnson "dead on arrival" in a strange interaction with a reporter after the Louisiana Republican criticized Biden's proposed radical changes to the Supreme Court.

President Biden called House Speaker Mike Johnson "dead on arrival" during a strange interaction with a reporter on Monday.

The exchange came shortly after Biden called on Congress to impose term limits and a code of conduct on the Supreme Court. In a statement released earlier on Monday, Johnson condemned Biden's proposal to "radically overhaul the U.S. Supreme Court," and argued that doing so would "tilt the balance of power" and erode the rule of law.

"This proposal is the logical conclusion to the Biden-Harris Administration and Congressional Democrats' ongoing efforts to delegitimize the Supreme Court," the Louisiana Republican argued. "Their calls to expand and pack the Court will soon resume."

"It is telling that Democrats want to change the system that has guided our nation since its founding simply because they disagree with some of the Court's recent decisions," he added. "This dangerous gambit of the Biden-Harris Administration is dead on arrival in the House."

When a reporter asked Biden for his response after he arrived in Austin, Texas, on Monday afternoon, Biden gave a garbled response.

"Mr. President, House Speaker Johnson says your Supreme Court reform is 'dead on arrival.' What's your reaction, sir?" a reporter inquired.

"Who said that?" Biden responded.

"Speaker Johnson said it's 'dead on arrival,'" the reporter repeated.

The president then responded, "I think that's what he is."

When the journalist asked for clarification, Biden doubled down on his retort.

"That he is - dead on arrival," he replied.

The president then vowed that he was going to "figure [out] a way," to get his proposed radical changes to the Supreme Court passed.

Around an hour later, Biden clarified his remarks during a speech and explained that he was referring to Johnson's thought process.

"The Republican Speaker of the House said, whatever he proposes, [is] dead on arrival," Biden said to the audience. "I think his thinking is dead on arrival."

Voters are waiting in anticipation.  Will Joe Biden speak at the DNC convention or not?

Will there even be a convention? The threat of demonstrations and violent riots is very real.

The ever so peaceful pro Hamas protestors are going to march on the DNC convention.

There may or may not be pro Israeli protestors there to meet them.

https://thehill.com/opinion/national-security/4725439-convention-goers-beware-pro-palestinian-groups-want-an-ugly-scene-at-chicagos-dnc/#:~:text=Pro%2DPalestinian%20groups%20expect%20to,without%20a%20permit%20if%20necessary .

Pro-Palestinian groups expect to turn out tens of thousands of protesters at this year’s Democratic convention.  They   have sued for the right to demonstrate close to the convention sites , the United Center and McCormick Place, but they have declared that they will demonstrate there even  without a permit   if necessary.  Democrats   justifiably fear  that the demonstrators want a replay of the 1968 Democratic convention in Chicago, which descended into chaos when the Chicago police attacked Vietnam War protesters. The resulting televised mayhem   badly damaged  the campaign of the Democratic nominee, Vice President   Hubert Humphrey,   who lost in November to Richard Nixon (R).

Have to love that Democrat's chickens look like they are finally coming home to roost.

This is what they get for playing their factions off on one another in order to appease their radicals.

"dead on arrival"

That perfectly describes Johnson's Speakership.  The House under his so-called leadership has accomplished absolutely nothing.

How much is due to his leadership vs almost an even Dem/Repub split vs a fractured Repub Party.

Well, Mike Johnson did avert a partial government shutdown last March, amid speculation that he would be ousted for it.  And Biden's big supplemental request for Ukraine, Israel, and the southern border couldn't have passed without Mike Johnson.

Democrats never tone down their rhetoric.

Anyone that thought that Biden's plea would last more than a few days is delusional.

The last time democrats pretended to be concerned about rhetoric, when they lied about Palin causing the Giffords shooting, Obama gave a similar speech about using temperate language. Within a couple days, his VP, Biden, was calling Republicans terrorists and hostage takers.

They only care about getting through a newscycle.

There's immunity for that.  At least that's what cap'n Sotomayor dispatched before her boat capsized to port.
