TYRANNOSAURUS WRECK - The Sun
Thousands of families turned up the free event on Peterborough Embankment, Cambs., that was set to feature a towering Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Frustrated parents took to social media slamming the experience saying they were instead confronted with a man in a blow-up dinosaur suit and other dino “puppets”. The 18-foot dinosaur that was billed as the main attraction was not brought out by organisers who blamed “health and safety issues” for keeping it behind closed doors.
The quality of the dinosaurs that were on show was heavily criticised by visitors claiming that they were little more than 'puppets'. The man in the blow-up dinosaur suit was only brought out by local museum Fossils Galore Museum, which was not connected to the event, to try to calm the situation and cheer the children up.
Carol Hurdman posted on Twitter and said: "Very disappointed with the lack of dinosaurs there definitely no 18ft one or robotic ones just a man in a suit. "My eight-year-old was very upset. Over 45 mins to get there for nothing. Walked round and left within half hour."
Another problem that plagued the event was a lack of parking causing hours of delays for those trying to get in and out of the fair. The event took place yesterday and saw many leaving within an hour despite travelling from outside the city. Although free to attend, guests had to pay a £5 charge for parking no matter what the length of their stay.
