With the deadline for all of Boeing's U.S. employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 having already passed, the company said Friday that it has suspended its vaccination requirement.
In a statement to KIRO Newsradio, a Boeing spokesperson said the company still encourages its employees to get vaccinated and get a booster if they have not done so already.
Boeing says the decision to suspend the vaccination requirement comes after a federal court's decision "prohibiting enforcement of the federal contractor executive order and a number of state laws."
The full statement from the Boeing spokesperson is below:
"Boeing is committed to maintaining a safe working environment for our employees, and advancing the health and safety of our global workforce. As such, we continue to encourage our employees to get vaccinated and get a booster if they have not done so. Meanwhile, after careful review, Boeing has suspended its vaccination requirement in line with a federal court's decision prohibiting enforcement of the federal contractor executive order and a number of state laws. As we have throughout the pandemic, we will continue to monitor and follow federal, state and local requirements."
In October, Boeing had set the deadline of Dec. 8, 2021, as the day all employees in the United States must be fully vaccinated, or have an approved exemption.

I don't think too many businesses are happy with the vax mandates.... Especially the government contractors....
Good 👍 for Boeing!
Well the Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit has lifted the order...
It is also under suspension cause an emergency petition has been made to the Supreme Court for a stay... Justice Kavanaugh gets to rule on that one...
This might get interesting...
Why didn’t it go to the full 6th circuit first before the Supreme Court?
Because normal procedure is to appellate review in a three judge panel of randomly selected judges of the entire circuit which renders the initial decision...
Either side can then ask for an EnBanc decision which brings the full circuit of active judges to bear... in this case the selected panel was two Obama appointed judges and a Bush II appointed judge...
It's already been directly appealed to the supervising judge of the 6th circuit, Justice Kavanuagh...
Given that information, is it any question why they ruled the way they did? "The government will suffer far more damage than any employer or employee effected"
Based on the three judges involved it was no surprise, the final outcome. Based on the make up of that court it was an unlucky draw for us. I guess it was going higher no matter which way a 3 judge panel ruled. I hope Kavanaugh wisely per constitutional enumerated powers.
I guess the Supreme Court has given the Biden administration until Dec 30th to respond to the request for an emergency stay...
Another thing to note, this stay doesn't apply to government contractors which is under a different stay which permanently rejected the governments (executive) authority to impose such a stay... Boeing is a government contractor...
It applies directly and only to the thousands of private employers with over 100 workers...
