The border crisis is one of the Democratic Party's own making, and it is now making homelessness worse in Democrat-run areas.
New York City is booting illegal immigrants from homeless shelters as the city prepares to see more tent cities. "People are going to be sleeping on our streets," Mayor Eric Adams said. The city has issued 21,000 notices to vacate to both individual illegal immigrants and families since July.
Massachusetts, meanwhile, is rapidly approaching maximum occupancy in its shelters, meaning that the state plans to begin putting families on wait lists. Those families will be left out in the cold in Massachusetts in November and beyond because the state simply can't provide shelter for all of them.
So much for all of that Democratic Party empathy.
The reality is that the Democratic Party's view that all illegal immigrants should be welcomed and provided with "sanctuary" was never empathetic. Democrats embraced it because they thought those gross Republicans would be the only ones to deal with the issue in Texas or Arizona. They were just fine with forcing Republicans to shoulder the burden and for those illegal immigrants to live homeless in Texas instead, as Democrats virtue-signaled about how welcoming they were to a handful of illegal immigrants in their own communities.
This was never the "empathetic" approach, which should now be clear even to Democrats as they cast illegal immigrants out into the northeastern winter cold because they can't live up to their "sanctuary" promises. The border crisis has continued to expose the Democratic Party's holier-than-thou act as both fraudulent and unsustainable.
It would be humorous if real people weren't suffering as a result.

Since when have Democrats been for disregarding our fellow human beings? We are all for feeding, clothing and housing all who are needy, including migrants/immigrants. There are plenty of resources for everyone.

No, there not enough resources for everyone. These border hoppers require food, shelter, clothing, medical care, schooling for the kids, and transportation. They also need jobs which are not all that plentiful. This largesse costs LOTS of money. The Dems have made promises they can't fulfil. Why do you think the larger cities are shipping them elsewhere?
Maybe they can bring back the tour of the Bowery and let people look at the migrants sleeping in the street.
When we went to the Words Fair in New York City in the 1960s, I was about 10, my father took me on a taxicab tour of of the Bowery to see the bums. He said "You don't want to end up like that, do good in school and don't do stupid things. The message stuck!
Lol, I recall my uncle coming back from such a tour. He would tell us about them stopping to look at bums lying there.

Bingo. As soon as they were asked to put their money where their mouth is they started calling for fed aid and saying they could not house the extra thousand that were bussed to them.
Waiting for bleeding hearts to post "Give me your tired, your poor" again as a rationale to accept Biden's millions of unvetted and medically unscreened ILLEGAL aliens, many of whom are criminals and known terrorists wandering all over the USA.

I'll wait and see how much money the northern cities get in the next budget. If they get fed tax dollars to subsidize them, it will continue.
