Removal of flag honoring veterans from White House sparks anger
Via: PJ • 36 comments • 2 weeks ago
Sep 11 10:firstname.lastname@example.orgYes, some are upset with his comments but other Vets have said they don't care that he disparages them. They plan on continuing to support him. That may be one reason he doesn't feel he needs to...
Sep 11 10:email@example.comWell.....I think the flag is a symbol of prisoners of war and the missing in action. It's not exclusive to generals.
You seem to be confusing policy with tradition and honor. The flag doesn't...
Sep 11 10:firstname.lastname@example.orgThere's definitely a diagnosis there but you would think someone in the WH or in his campaign would tell him now is not the best time to do anything that may be viewed as controversial as it...
Sep 11 10:email@example.comYes, the flag is still on the WH grounds but it has been moved from it's prominent spot to a less visible location.
Sep 11 9:firstname.lastname@example.orgTheir sacrifice is the highest any American can give to their country. I'm not exactly sure what is driving this aversion to those in our military. It's weird.

Bob Woodward book 'Rage:' Trump admits to concealing true threat of coronavirus - CNNPolitics
Via: JohnRussell • 180 comments • 2 weeks ago
Sep 10 9:email@example.comI have been better. I contracted COVID in late January and am still feeling the effects of it. It wreaked havoc on my respiratory system. It's like walking around with pneumonia. lol
Sep 10 7:firstname.lastname@example.orgI've come to terms with the mindset of the average trump supporter. I'm not interested in befriending them or saving them. They are the master of their own fate and they are writing how they will...
Sep 09 8:email@example.comLooks like they sent out the wrong blowup barbie today.
Sep 09 6:firstname.lastname@example.orgCalm down. I know this is extremely upsetting. Not because you're hearing how Trump deceived a nation but because he got caught and by his own admission.
You should probably stop commenting on...
Sep 09 6:19pm@7Is there any doubt remaining about the mental health of those who continue to support this president...........
Don't Be Shocked Trump Lied About COVID On Tape. Be Horrified That It Won't Matter
Via: JohnRussell • 209 comments • 5 days ago
.....The shock here isn’t that Trump was lying. Nor that Woodward refused to disclose the truth in real-time. Nor even that the president’s lies contributed to the spread of COVID, which has now killed nearly 200,000 Americans, infected more than six million, and sent the nation spiraling into economic and social chaos.
The shock is that Trump’s support will barely budge.
Sep 09 7:29pm@5What other information does he know that he has decided not to share with us for whatever BS reason?
The truth is none of us should be surprised because we've already caught him in lies time...

Justice Dept. intervenes on behalf of Trump in defamation case brought by woman who accused him of rape
Via: PJ • 30 comments • 2 weeks ago
Sep 09 9:firstname.lastname@example.orgYes, Barr waiting to the last minute to throw this out there was tactical and for the purpose to delay potentially unfavorable facts coming out before the elections but as you say, it is still...
Sep 09 9:email@example.comOkay, I'll take you at your word.
Sep 09 9:firstname.lastname@example.orgThe article isn't about China. Please stay focused.
Sep 09 8:email@example.comYes, but this is what we expect from him. My issue is that our Agencies and Institutes are going along with it. Even though it is highly unlikely there still is a possibility if this argument is...

An Occupy Wall Street Organizer , The Person Credited With Coining The Phrase "the 99 percent" Has Died.
By: JohnRussell • 18 comments • 2 weeks ago
David Graeber, one of the organizers of Occupy Wall Street, died about a week ago in Italy. When "Occupy" was taking place I had some curiosity about what was going on there so I read a few articles about the background. The name David Graeber turned up and so I read a little about him, almost none of which I remember now, 9 years later. . He was an academic, and intellectual, and an...
Sep 09 9:firstname.lastname@example.orgI'm not assigning labels. People do things at certain stages in their lives based on their individual situation. I don't think these people were communists.
Sep 09 9:email@example.comDon't twist my words. I'm making a huge effort to have a discussion with you rather than back and forth gibes.
Sep 09 8:firstname.lastname@example.orgI'm sure some were but some were not.
Sep 09 8:email@example.comHe sparked the younger generation to life and reminded them they could bring attention to issues that they were passionate about. I agree it was doomed to fail. It wasn't well organized. The...

Sep 06 9:firstname.lastname@example.orgNo worries, I'm sure a Russian submarine is close by and can assist their comrades.
Sep 06 9:email@example.comI was thinking the exact same thing. Anti government until THEY need help. Typical trump supporter mindset.
I'm just glad it will cost them money to fix their boats. hahahahahahaha
What are some of your favorite smells? Guess we could include sounds too...
There's a lot of scents that I love; all for different reasons. The smell of tar on a spring morning reminds me of the home I lived in until the age of 8. The city would spray tar on the gravel road in front of my house every spring to help keep the dust down and gravel in place. The smell of a rain storm coming. The smell of Turbo Blue fuel being burned in a hot rod. The smell of Georgio...

Pharma Companies Plan Joint Pledge on Vaccine Safety
Via: Bob Nelson • 3 comments • 3 weeks ago
Apparently these companies value their reputations. They do not want to be associated with an ineffective vaccine, but are worried that President Trump might force them to deliver a product before it is ready.
Sep 05 10:27am@2No one can be forced to put an unsafe, ineffective product on the market. These companies make boo-koos of money. If they feel pressured by one of trump's compromised agencies to produce a less...

Trump Lies, Says He Never Called John McCain a 'Loser'
Via: JohnRussell • 58 comments • 3 weeks ago
Sep 04 8:firstname.lastname@example.orgI don't waste my time and I don't care what trump supporters believe. I stopped caring a long time ago. I don't feel challenged to prove anything because they aren't worth the effort. But that's...
Sep 04 8:email@example.comNeither works better for this group of people. You keep thinking they aren't like trump. That they will eventually become rational. Newsflash......they are exactly like Trump. But you're right....
Sep 04 7:firstname.lastname@example.orgWell you keep outlining facts to a faction of people who don't believe in facts. That seems to have worked out splendidly these past 4 years.
Sep 04 6:email@example.comSemantics. You don't have to literally say something in order to "mean" something. Coddling hardcore supporters is not helping them.
Sep 04 6:firstname.lastname@example.orgWhat's been spun?
Sep 04 6:email@example.comI do feel sorry for those who continue to defend the indefensible. They are too far in to turn back now. They can't accept that they've been fools.
Sep 04 4:45pm@7I am not sure why the article in the Atlantic is news. Anyone paying attention already knew how this president feels about those who serve and die in uniform.
Sep 04 4:firstname.lastname@example.orgI feel incredibly sorry for you and I mean that sincerely.
An Analysis of Nearly 4 Million Pitches Shows Just How Many Mistakes Umpires Make

No doubt in my mind that balls and strikes will eventually be fully automated. The technology already exists, is being tested in some minor league parks and the writing is on the wall:
MLB umpires agree to electronic strike zone testing and development for 'robot umps' in new union deal
And this will continue as AI technology improves. All the calls that require extraordinary...
Sep 03 8:email@example.comIt's both but part of the game is the human error. It makes it unpredictable and gives opportunity to the underdog.
I do think that some of the umps who are notorious for their errors should be...
