George Santos will be Charged in Federal Court
This may be the first time that George will go down that doesn't involve a penis.

Who'd a thunk it?  George Santos is in a little bit of trouble.  A lengthly Federal Probe has finally resulted in charges being filed by the DOJ.  This may be the first time that George will go down that doesn't involve a penis.

Of course, George Santos denies any wrong doing.  He also denies that his name is "George Santos".  He claims that the subpoena is invalid because it has the wrong name on it.  He claims that his real name is " Kitara Ravache" and that he is actually a woman.

Several Republicans in the House of Reprehensibles have called on Santos to resign.  Kevin McCarthy said he would look into the charges when he finds his blindfold.

Here are the charges

Feds Charge George Santos With Fraud, Money Laundering, Lies in 13-Count Indictment

Rep. George Santos, whose lies about his life story have drawn deep scrutiny, has been charged with making false statements, fraud, money laundering and other crimes in a 13-count federal indictment unsealed of his expected arraignment on Long Island later in the day.

The embattled 34-year-old Republican, whose district covers part of Long Island and Queens, was in custody at the time prosecutors in New York's Eastern District released the court documents. He plans to address the public at the courthouse after his arraignment, reps have said.

The indictment includes seven counts of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, one count of theft of public funds and two counts of making materially false statements to the U.S. House of Representatives. A grand jury returned it a day ago, prosecutors said Wednesday as they publicly released the court papers. Read it.

The document alleges Santos induced supporters to donate to a company under the false pretense that the money would be used to support his campaign. Instead, it claims, he used it for personal expenses, including luxury designer clothes and to pay off his credit cards.

Santos also is accused of lying about his finances on congressional disclosure forms and applying for and receiving unemployment benefits while he was employed as regional director of an investment firm and running for Congress.

His lawyer has not returned requests for comment regarding the charges, nor has his office. Santos' office in Queens was empty Tuesday night, and, reached by phone, after reports on the anticipated indictment , he told the Associated Press that it was "news to me."

The indictment intends to hold Santos accountable for "various alleged fraudulent schemes and brazen misrepresentations," U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Breon Peace said in a statement.

“Taken together, the allegations in the indictment charge Santos with relying on repeated dishonesty and deception to ascend to the halls of Congress and enrich himself," Peace added. "He used political contributions to line his pockets, unlawfully applied for unemployment benefits that should have gone to New Yorkers who had lost their jobs due to the pandemic, and lied to the House of Representatives."

FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Michael Driscoll echoed similar sentiments.

"As today's enforcement action demonstrates, the FBI remains committed to holding all equally accountable under the law," Driscoll said. "As we allege, Congressman Santos committed federal crimes, and he will now be forced to face the consequences of his actions."

The gop admires toxic obnoxious jerks...

Because they identify closely with them!

Remember your grandad's Big G GOP? The Grand Old Party of Abraham Lincoln? The Republican Party of Dwight Eisenhower?

That doesn't exist. That devolved to gop!

Santos fits right in with the gop of today.

Well of course.  Do you think if the situation was reversed that a Democrat Majority Leader would take a vote to expel a Democrat if the rules for the replacement mean a good chance the seat would flip to the other party?  You can complain all you want about party over country but both parties do it all the time.  The party is more important to them than any of us except for when it's time for our votes and then they "really" love us....

Not the same at all.

Al Franken resigned Jan 2, 2018.  At that time the Senate majority was Republican so the minority leader Chuck Schumer was not fighting to defend a slim majority.  Additionally the rules to replace a Senator are in the Seventeenth Amendment which allows state legislatures to empower the governor to appoint a replacement to complete the term or to hold office until a special election can take place.  Minnesota appointed Tina Smith who is another Democrat to take his seat to finish that term in office.

Replacing a congressman in the House follows different rules and the rules as defined by New York State mean a special election would be held to replace Santos and the district that Santos represents is a majority Democrat district so the odds are fairly high that the replacement out of that special election would be a Democrat which would reduce the Republican majority by 1.

Your comment really doesn't address what I posted.

Maybe some research would have prevented you from passing misinformation.

U.S. Representative Anthony Weiner, ensnared in a humiliating flap for sending lewd photos of himself to women online, resigned on Thursday, ending a weeks-long scandal that made his fellow Democrats cringe.
