D istrust among Supreme Court justices has not faded since the leak of the controversial Dobbs ruling a year ago that opened the door to banning abortion, as ethical scandals have   further created new tensions   reports Politico.

According to Politico's Josh Gerstein, the leak of the draft majority ruling written by Justice Sam Alito created a firestorm within the confines of the court and even Chief Justice John Roberts admitted that a great deal of comity was lost in the aftermath.

As Gerstein wrote, "Over the past 13 months, the court has been hit by a series of challenges, both internal and external, that have rocked the institution itself.

SCOTUS's inability to come up with a set of ethics to which they have to abide is, IMO trashing their esteem with the public.

Gorsuch is much more of a moderate than anyone thought he would be. He has written some dissenting opinions and really pointed out that the majority (conservatives) did not know the law or how it should be applied.

Exactly. . There are way too many violently psychotic left wingers out there who resort to violence because they can't stand dissent and  extremist President and AG who puts them in additional danger by refusing to enforce the law.

Thanks for admitting the danger they face from left wing anti-American terrorists who hate the rule of law.

Interesting comment since all evidence shows that it's the right wing factions that are by far the most violent.

Except a left wing terrorist recently  tried to assassinate a justice and you just upvoted  a post confirming  the ongoing threat.

Odd you now try to dispute what you just supported.

I'm not disputing anything, Sean. I confirmed that the justices will probably have to look over their shoulder after the latest threat to them. They now have 24/7 protection.

If I remember correctly a district judge's son was shot to death and her husband was wounded in 2020 by a conservative lawyer.

Threats are made against justices/politicians/judges and presidents every day, Sean.

BTW, I'm not the subject of the article.

Now do you want to comment on the article or keep trying to play your asshole gotcha game?

Since I had to copy and paste the article MSN won't allow fetch on this. And trying to copy and paste the whole article was a pain and it kept malfunctioning I just did part of it and provided the link. Why in the world is MSN blocked in China?

It's an effective way to censor news coverage, and control what many Chinese citizens know about the actions of their government.

The new Great Wall of China is a digital wall and is reported to be more comprehensive and sophisticated than any other country IT restrictions.

I don't know if it's true today, but several years ago China had "the largest recorded number of imprisoned journalists and cyber-dissidents in the world".

I don't know anything about the journalists, but you're not wrong about censorship.  I guess every nation has a cross to bear.  China has censorship, while America has freedom of speech, and America has massive gun violence, something that doesn't happen in China.  However, even though I have ordinary common internet and not a VPN I still read the internet USA Today, npr World news, npr American news, Microsoft Bing news collection, CTV (Canada Television News) and for a laugh Crooks & Liars every morning, and if I can, so can everyone in China,  The only thing I do miss is YouTube because the alternatives here that I have access to, bililbili and Youku, are not as comprehensive.  American movies are shown every day on a number of channels.  Yesterday I watched the Keira Knightly version of Pride and Prejudice and The Truman Show.  I don't feel deprived just because I'm not entitled to stand on a soap box in the city hall square and shout negative comments about Xi Jinping.  Hey, even though I've lived here almost 17 years and been married to a Chinese citizen for almost 15 years I'm nothing more than a guest here required to renew my visa every three years.  I would never give up my Canadian citizenship and passport anyway.

If you would have read my complete comment, the part about it kept malfunctioning, as the reason that I finally copied only part of the article and then put in the link you would stop whining about it.

If it malfunctions again when trying to C&P an article I will do the exact same thing. Simple as that.

I still don't see how they can claim originalism. Things we face today would never have even been thought of several hundred years ago.

This has nothing to do with left wingers trying to discredit the Supreme Court as I have said on many occassions they need to have a code of ethics as can be seen on recent revelations. That includes ALL members of SCOTUS, liberal and conservative.

It's not that hard to comprehend.

Agreed.

But this growing sentiment against this particular conservative court appears to be political in nature.

I doubt if any of these alleged ethics violations have had any bearing on any cases before the Court

IMO, it is ridiculous for there not to be a code of ethics that SCOTUS has to follow, they are not a bunch of Gods.
