Lughnasadh - August 1st
Lughnasadh (Lammas to some) is the first of the harvest feasts. The menus includes grilled fresh veggies and items made from grains. One tradition is to make a loaf of bread in the shape of a man - I changed that slightly. I make homemade pizza in my gingerbread pan - so it is a Pizza Man. I also make scones with fresh berries added. This represents the Lugh the God of Light. Grapes, apples, pears, green beans, beets, carrots, zucchini, and new potatoes also play a part in the feast.
Rose or Sandalwood incense fills my house. While I put out my Carnelian crystals.
I drink a blackberry wine if I can find it - if not a mixed berry wine is substituted.
Lughnasadh is a time to thank the God and Goddesses for the food on our tables and to reconnect with nature. After feast we tend to sit outside and enjoy the birdsong and any little animals that scurry past.
Some people:
Save seeds from the fruits and veggies are to plant.
Herbs are picked and dried for spell casting.
Dry flowers and add pine cones with a touch of scented essential oils for potpourri.
The colors for this feast are yellow, orange and red. I decorate the house with those colors and fresh flowers from my flower beds.
My alter is decorated with corn and grains with yellow, red and orange candles.
thanks for keeping us updates
Dear Friend Veronica: Useful information.
Helps us to broaden our horizons.
We are all the better off as a genus and species for being able to see the world through the eyes of our brothers and sisters.
Gratefully,
Enoch.
