Since Inauguration Day, our nation has watched in horror as a humanitarian, national security, and public health crisis has unfolded at our southern border. The chaos in question is the direct result of President Joe Biden's executive orders and failed immigration policies.

From rescinding President Donald Trump's successful "remain in Mexico" policy to drastically reducing deportations, Biden has brazenly incentivized illegal immigration. In September, his administration released thousands of Haitian illegal immigrants into the country. When pressed on the specific number, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas admitted, "Approximately, I think it's about 10,000 or so, 12,000," shamelessly adding, "It could be even higher."

Additionally, the Biden administration is inconsistently using Title 42, a public health provision that allows officials to expel illegal migrants due to concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, Customs and Border Protection only expelled 53% of illegal immigrants under Title 42 in September 2021 — barely half of the total monthly encounters.

It's no wonder why hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants are flooding our southern border. Time and again, the president has proven he has no interest in taking the crisis he created seriously.

Due to Biden's severely misguided policies, the number of migrants attempting to illegally cross the border has become staggering. CBP officials encountered 4,000 more migrants per day in September 2021 than they did in September 2020 — a 232% increase in a single year. In addition, September was the seventh straight month with more than 170,000 apprehensions — bringing the total of illegal border crossings since Biden took office to a stunning 1.4 million.

Perpetuated by an incompetent administration, the disaster at our southern border continues to leave visible ripple effects, creating a multitude of national security threats ranging from possible known terrorists attempting to cross our border to exacerbating the spread of COVID-19.

During a House Homeland Security Committee hearing in March, Mayorkas admitted there were "instances" in which illegal immigrants were released into the country — without being tested for COVID-19. Months later in September, he still could not provide a comprehensive coronavirus testing plan to the committee. In response, the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General issued a report detailing how the department has failed to ensure sufficient COVID-19 precautions are taken at the border.

For examples of their mismanagement, look no further than the recent rise of COVID at the border and neighboring communities. Over the summer in the Rio Grande Valley Sector, the number of detainees testing positive for COVID-19 increased by 900%. Imagine how many more Americans have been infected due to the Biden administration's negligence.

Clearly, the administration's cavalier approach to handling an unprecedented surge of illegal migrants amid a global pandemic continues to put Border Patrol agents and communities at risk of exposure. Regrettably, Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris would rather fulfill their campaign promise of instituting blanket amnesty than prioritize the safety, security, and health of American citizens.

Alarmed that an unknown number of illegal immigrants have been released into our country without being tested for COVID-19, I introduced H.R. 2076, the COVID-19 Border Protection Act. This legislation requires the Department of Homeland Security, in consultation with the Department of Health and Human Services, to develop a comprehensive strategy to test all migrants encountered by DHS and HHS officials at the border and quarantine those who test positive. By testing and quarantining migrants, we will be able to reduce the unnecessary spread of COVID-19 from our southern border into communities such as our own. Until we put Americans first by securing the border and stopping the spread of COVID-positive illegal immigrants, every state — including Georgia — is a border state.

If passed, the CBP Act would be a critical first step in ensuring illegal immigrants are not infecting more Americans with this deadly disease. I'm counting on my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to join me in passing this crucial legislation, which will help provide some of the tools needed to solve this crisis.

At a time of unparalleled hyper-partisanship, common sense must prevail. Historically, both parties have recognized the need to put Americans' safety over party politics. Yet given the Democrats' blind acceptance of Biden's many crises, including a troubling crime surge, the catastrophe in Afghanistan, soaring inflation, and the new supply chain crisis, I won't hold my breath. However, we must remain focused on illuminating the pressing issues at our southern border in hopes that the Democrats will put the safety of our people over politics.

They are setting all kinds of records:

McALLEN, Texas   (Border Report)   — As expected, agents in the Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley Sector encountered more migrants than any sector along the Southwest border in Fiscal Year 2021, and it was the most ever for the sector since records have been kept, a Border Patrol spokesman told Border Report on Wednesday.

The region captivated the nation and the world this past fiscal year as the epicenter for migrant crossings on the Southwest border as hundreds of thousands of migrants, mostly families and unaccompanied children, began crossing into South Texas after the Biden administration took office.

Fiscal 2021 totals, which were released on Friday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, showed the RGV agents encountered 549,077 migrants — a 508% increase from Fiscal 2020. The sector also had one-third of all encounters in Fiscal 2021 on the southern border,   according to the CBP year-end figures.

“It’s the highest in decades since we’ve been keeping track,” Border Patrol Special Operations Supervisor Christian Alvarez said Wednesday.

New York City is suffering from it as well:

"America’s crisis at the border is now a crisis in New York public schools.

The Biden Administration is flooding New York City and Long Island communities with thousands of unaccompanied immigrant minors captured crossing the Mexico-US border, often arriving here, as The Post recently reported,   via clandestine flights   in the middle of the night.

Data from the US Department of Health of and Human Services confirms that the New York area is a hotspot for shipping children rounded up illegally crossing the border without guardians.

Four counties alone, Suffolk, Queens, Nassau and Brooklyn, took in nearly 5,000 unaccompanied children in just 11 months, from Oct. 1, 2020 to Aug. 31, 2021, according to HHS.

With public education in the area costing about $28,000 per child, per year, that’s a $139 million hit on New York taxpayers to educate children arriving unexpectedly just in those four counties.

The arrival of these children, mostly teenage boys, in local schools is creating a classroom crisis that is strapping educational resources, costing taxpayers millions in un-budgeted dollars, and aiding gang-recruiting efforts, argue parents, teachers and immigration experts.

“We’re at maxed capacity for kids with special needs, but they’ll keep sending them,” lamented one high school teacher in Queens, among the communities hardest hit by the illegal-immigrant student dump.

Fifteen counties nationwide have received more than 1,000 unaccompanied children caught at the border over the past year,   reported HHS . The top five counties on the list are all in Texas, California and south Florida.

But four of those 15 counties are right here in New York: Suffolk (1,528), Queens (1,314), Nassau (1,064) and Brooklyn (1,046). The Bronx nearly made the list, with 461 unaccompanied students. New York is the only state in America with four counties receiving more than 1,000 unaccompanied minors, despite its 1,700-mile distance from the southern border."

That would make 'bout 15,000 unaccompanied ILLEGAL alien CHILDREN - so we don't have a problem????

And, where would their parents be?  Will Biden and crew pay these "Unaccompanied ILLEGAL alien children" the $450,000 - since they don't have any parents, obviously they'll need the money more, eh?

Will he pay the children of all Americans sentenced to jail terms every day in the US.  The logic can't even be defended. Of course, it's not logic...it's leftist dogma.
