Franklin Graham to Return to Ukraine to Deliver Easter Message

Evangelist Franklin Graham has announced that he will be returning to Ukraine to deliver a special message this Easter Sunday.

“I will be sharing a message the whole world needs to hear: Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, conquered sin and death 2,000 years ago when He rose victoriously from the grave,” Graham said. “This Good News changes everything—for individual hearts, for communities and for entire nations.”

Graham traveled to the war-torn country last month as his ministries, Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA), launched relief efforts to help Ukrainians in need.

In a post on Facebook , Graham announced that his Easter message will air on Fox News on April 17 at 12:00 pm EST.

“My deepest gratitude to my father Billy Graham’s friend, Mr. Rupert Murdoch, who is providing the television air time for this,” Graham wrote . “I hope you’ll mark your calendar and plan to watch as we celebrate the reason for our hope – JESUS IS ALIVE! Remember to pray for the people of Ukraine.”

According to BGEA’s website , the special event will feature music from an 80-person Ukrainian choir, many of whom have been displaced by the war. Two Ukrainians are also expected to deliver prayers during the Easter message.

As Christian Headlines previously reported, Graham wrote to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling for a ceasefire during Holy Week.

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Graham also delivered an uplifting message from Central Park in New York City. That message also aired on Fox News.

Ahead of his return to Ukraine, Graham called on Christians to “pray that God will open hearts to the Gospel and that He will draw many to salvation in Jesus Christ.”

“Let’s keep asking the Lord to intervene and bring an end to the conflict in Ukraine,” Graham stressed.

Anoon xx... wouldn't have to if a certain maggot stayed in his own country...

Don't have to be grateful to us...just glad we can contribute in some way...and we have supplied humanitarian aid as have many countries...

Even I was wondering how on earth we could get them there..not sure if the Globemaster planes are ours or yours..but where there is a will there is a way..

Well hopefully chairman Zi won’t pull off a Putin imitation and do to the Republic of China on Taiwan what Putin is doing to Ukraine.  Otherwise both our countries will be busy shipping such items there too.  The people of Taiwan will defend themselves against imperialist wars of aggression as strongly as Ukraine has done.  Hopefully the people of Ukraine will be energized and have their hope restored a week from tomorrow.

Graham should be denied entry into Ukraine.  He and all of his friends are anti-Jesus and pro Putin.  Besides, Graham is a common christian grifter.

I think that most of the world will support Taiwan if they are attacked by a neighbor in an evil unprovoked war of aggression.  It’s my opinion that the people of Taiwan and it’s military and it’s President will be every bit as strong in their resolve as their counterparts in Ukraine have been.

I see that we are still waiting for the roof you asked for.  It is now Holy Week and I’m so proud of Graham for his charitable work in Ukraine through Samaritan’s Purse and the field hospital he has there.  That he’s willing to go there and be a target of the Russians while delivering a message of real hope to the Ukrainian people makes me feel proud of him for what he is doing.

You ignore that fact that believers such as him and myself  through my church and many others through theirs actually get involved in the world beyond prayer and preaching to actually alleviate human suffering and physical and mental/emotional needs in addition to spiritual ones by providing food, hygiene supplies, clothing, blankets, shelter for the poor the homeless as well as helping with their medical needs, providing clinics, medical missionaries, all around the world.  They care for orphans, provide prison ministry, provide whatever is needed in disaster and famine relief, send development aid and micro loans and well builders to places in third world like poverty, help the blind and the deaf,

My cut off comments cut and reposted to this post below:

you name the issue and a church or multiple ones have a charity to provide real help to those in need around the world.  God has blessed these efforts by so many churches so engaged in so many ways.  It is our belief in God and our desire to do as Jesus suggests that motivates us to do good unto the least of these…When people see us at their level making a real and positive impact in their lives they often see something we helped with as the answer to their prayers.  It’s truly way more effective than your mocking water and scissors illustration

Secular organizations do the same thing, except they are motivated by an actual desire to help people, not some self serving desire to appease a god that answers nobody.  They will be there to help whether people pray for it or not.  Keep cutting water with scissors though if that is what is required to make you act like a good person.

Oh please!  Religious people give far more of their time, possessions, money, and blood to charity than secular people do any way you measure it.  Many philanthropy groups have documented this.  There are far more and larger theistic charities out there than secular ones.  Christians give and volunteer in order to alleviate human suffering and to address the ills of a given society and its people.  We have no need to appease God.  We do what we do because we love Him and want to please Him and grow our relationship with him.  These efforts are done out of love not required “works” to earn salvation.

(My cut off comments above pasted below)

The fact is that human society would greatly suffer if religious charities simply disappeared and the secular had to fill the void.  Most secular on the left view raising everyone’s taxes as their charitable giving and the government as “their”charity.

You’ve missed the point.  I’m not talking about volume, I’m just saying that secular philanthropy exists and operates on a level that is truly about charity without regard for pleasing some god.  These two statements contradict one another:

We do what we do because we love Him and want to please Him and grow our relationship with him.  These efforts are done out of love not required “works” to earn salvation.

The love you speak of is self serving.

I never denied that secular philanthropy exists.  It is just tiny and pales in comparison to religious based philanthropy.  The fact remains that believers giving dwarfs that of the secular and the motivations for giving is irrelevant to the fact believers give so much more.  That believers have a different reason or motivation for giving than the secular does not in any way minimize the giving of the believer or excuse the non believer for being so cheap.
