Rachel Marsden: Biden’s gaffes reveal some dark, deep-state secrets
Various press reports claimed that Biden’s comments just represented his own anxieties, or those of the more discreet players inside the executive branch. Clearly Biden has a filter problem in that a lot of what goes into his brain comes straight out of his mouth, giving us a rare glimpse of what’s really being said in the back rooms of Washington power — the kind in which Biden has been immersed his entire life.

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

PARIS — Joe Biden took to the   podium   last week and made a mess that immediately required a clean-up crew.

“He’s not joking when he talks about potential use of tactical nuclear weapons or biological or chemical weapons because his military is, you might say, significantly underperforming,” Biden said referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the conflict in Ukraine. “We have not faced the prospect of Armageddon since Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis,” Biden added, as if to drive the point home. So where did Biden get this idea that Putin risked going nuclear? “If the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, we will without a doubt use all available means to protect Russia and our people. This is not a bluff,” Putin had   said earlier,   in a televised national address.

So Putin didn’t actually threaten to use any nuclear weapons. He merely pointed out the obvious — that if Russia is attacked on its own soil, then it has a range of tools at its disposal. Both the   Pentagon   and the   White House   were subsequently forced to backpedal on Biden’s behalf and explain that there was no evidence to actually suggest that Russia was on the verge of deploying a nuke.

Various press reports   claimed   that Biden’s comments just represented his own anxieties, or those of the more discreet players inside the   executive branch . Clearly Biden has a filter problem in that a lot of what goes into his brain comes straight out of his mouth, giving us a rare glimpse of what’s really being said in the back rooms of Washington power — the kind in which Biden has been immersed his entire life. Whether partisan staffers or career bureaucrats, both types of deep-state actors are permanent fixtures within the Washington orbit and it’s rare to get confirmation of the power they wield at the highest level. Through Biden’s gaffes, it’s clear that what’s reigning behind the scenes is a bipartisan neoconservative globalism aimed at goading Russia — one of the key defenders of global multipolarity and certainly the most militarily influential — into a war of attrition through America’s Ukrainian proxies. The setup allows Washington to pretend that it’s not actually in a direct war against Russia. But through Biden’s gaffes, it’s becoming obvious that the deep state isn’t exactly secure or confident in its ability to discern how far it can push its luck with Putin, even as it continues to do so recklessly and negligently.

Consider some of the recent escalations. Europe’s gas lifelines to Russia and one of Moscow’s economic Crown Jewels, the Nord Stream pipelines, had holes blown in them. Russia’s Kerch Bridge to Crimea was blown up a day after Putin’s birthday as Ukrainian officials celebrated on Twitter. And the car bombing assassination in Moscow of a prominent young   pro-Kremlin activist   was attributed by U.S. intelligence to elements within the Ukrainian government.

If we rule out any absurd nonsense suggesting that Russia has been busy running around blowing itself up, then that leaves Ukraine and Washington as likely suspects, which are effectively one and the same at this point.   The Intercept   has just reported, for instance, that “clandestine American operations” are underway in Ukraine amid the conflict with Russia that risk abusing a narrower authorization approved under former President Barack Obama to “counter malign foreign influence activities”. So any claims by Washington of wanting an end to the conflict, and that Russia holds all the cards and could unilaterally choose peace at any time, as the White House has suggested, is preposterous when the deep state seems intent on advancing Russian regime change through covert actions. And how do we know that regime change is what the deep state ultimately wants in Russia? Through another one of Biden’s unfiltered gems. “For God's sake, this man cannot remain in power,”   Biden said   during a trip to Poland back in March.

The only one who seems to be gunning for an all-out match of nuclear football between NATO and Russia over Ukraine is the president of Ukraine,   Volodymyr Zelenskyy , himself, who mused last week in an address to an Australian think-tank: “We need pre-emptive strikes so that Russia would know what awaits them if they use nuclear weapons. Not the other way around — to wait for Russia's nuclear strikes, and then say: "Oh no! OK then, take this!" Zelenskyy and his staff later   backpedaled , conveniently claiming that he was misunderstood. It’s telling that the Biden administration has been overtly obsessing over nuclear threats that Putin didn’t actually make while publicly pretending that they didn’t notice Zelenskyy’s call to essentially unleash another world war. Washington is a de facto party to the conflict in Ukraine, isn’t actually interested in peace beyond paying lip-service to it, doesn’t have a grip on its proxies, and is nervous about what it might inadvertently provoke. And it’s all plainly evident thanks to those raw, unfiltered and uncensored Biden moments. So keep ‘em coming, Joe!

Fox News Scorched For ‘Grotesque’ Personal Attack On Joe Biden

Josephine Harvey
Mon, October 10, 2022 at 11:56 PM

Fox News   has been slammed for apparently trying to vilify President   Joe Biden   over a private voicemail message he allegedly sent to   Hunter Biden   during a difficult phase in his son’s battle with substance abuse.

Sean Hannity   on Monday aired the 2018 voicemail,   obtained by the Daily Mail , in which Joe Biden says to his son: “It’s Dad. I called to tell you I love you. I love you more than the whole world, pal. You gotta get some help. I know you don’t know what to do. I don’t either.”

“It’s actually sad,” Hannity said of the message. “Now that voicemail reportedly came at the exact same time Hunter lied on a gun application to buy a handgun.”

“By the way, replace the name Biden with Trump and imagine how the mob and the media would be covering all of this,” Hannity added. “Instead, they’d rather perpetuate one hoax after another, just like they did with the dirty   Steele dossier .”

Hunter Biden is   under federal investigation   and could face charges over tax crimes and making a false statement while buying a gun,   The Washington Post reported   last week. According to the Daily Mail, the voicemail was sent on Oct. 15, 2018, three days after the alleged gun purchase.

Hunter Biden later   wrote in his book   about his lifelong struggle with addiction and said he used drugs heavily in 2018.

There has been no evidence to suggest Joe Biden was aware of the gun purchase. The president ― who lost his first wife and daughter in a car crash and his son Beau in 2015 to brain cancer ― stood by Hunter throughout his battle with drug addiction and   said   he was “proud of him” for overcoming it.

Commenters weren’t sure what point Fox News thought it was making by sharing the private message, beyond showcasing a father’s love and concern for his child.

Then he heads off to Delaware?

There are aspects of Russia's arsenal we have no knowledge of.  But if the state of their ground forces are any indication, they may not pose the CBRNE threat we are being told.

This is an astonishing article, which reads like an all out defense of Russia , and Putin.

If one took this article on face value one would think that Ukraine is the aggressor and Russia is just defending itself against the machinations of the "one world" 'ers in Washington and western Europe.

I'd call the author a traitor but she's not an American.

In the delusional world of the author of the article, it is wrong for Ukraine to take the war to the Russians. The article is preposterous unless one has a pro Russia pro Putin viewpoint.

What’s preposterous is anyone who trusts anything coming out of Ukraine or Russia.    Both sides are crooked as hell and not worth one drop of American blood or treasure but if you volunteer or volunteer your kids to fight their wars .... fair enough.

Otherwise stop being a manipulated chickenhawk.

Hard not to when the author plays the boogeyman card by repeating 'deep state' four times in a short article. Reading through many of her other articles I am surprised she left out 'woke' and its derivatives. She is clearly on the right-wing populist team.

It doesn't help that this clean-up crew is working endlessly every time Biden opens his mouth.  This isn't any different.

When they have to trot out John Kirby to make TV rounds and clean up after Biden and KJP, it's obvious that there's a mega-mess.

Biden botched the war in Ukraine six months before the fighting started.  It's unclear if that was caused by Biden's self-serving political calculus, bad planning by the military and State Dept., or infighting for power inside a leaderless administration.  The Biden administration failed to make any real effort to engage in diplomacy so it seems apparent that the Biden administration chose to provoke and escalate until war became the only path forward.

Putin has already declared victory.  Putin has celebrated the Russian military doing what Putin said it would do.  Putin has welcomed Ukrainian territory into the Russian Federation.  A partitioned Ukraine is a tangible reality.  The Russian military is quite obviously shifting away from offensive operations and toward occupation and rebuilding.  Russian theater combat commanders are being replaced by commanders with experience in administration of occupying forces.

Biden's provocations will likely result in punitive retaliation by Russia.  But it seems clear that Russia is finished with offensive military operations.  Biden won't draw Russia into open country warfare at this point.  Russia can fall back on a historically proven strategy of letting winter defeat Ukraine, NATO, and the United States.  Putin is refusing to fight Biden's war on Biden's terms.  Biden has led us into another quagmire and Biden cannot admit his mistake.  What we will never know is if Biden's mistakes are the result of his own political hubris, bad advice by military and diplomatic bureaucrats, or an administration that is simply incompetent.  But is becoming painfully apparent that Biden has screwed the pooch, again.

The Ukrainian military could not defeat disorganized Ukrainian separatists in eight years of fighting.  And that same Ukrainian military is going to drive Russia out of Ukraine?

The United States hitched its wagon to the corrupt horse of Ukrainian government.  Now that the wheels have come off the wagon, Biden is riding that corrupt horse into a quagmire.

a quagmire.

That is the right term. Zelensky has to fight the war the same way LBJ chose to fight the Vietnam War. The unwritten rule is that no matter how well Ukrainian forces do, they will not/ "must not" invade Russia. One can only play defense for so long.

Yes, indeed.  And at this point Ukraine can't cross the border into Russia without using weapons provided by the United States and Europe.

Biden has given Zelensky a big stick that threatens the United States, NATO, and Europe with a broader war.  But if Zelensky uses that stick too soon then the weapon supplies dry up and Ukraine folds pretty quickly.  That's Biden's threat toward Zelensky; that's how to control a puppet government.  BTW, the threat of a broader war appears to be something Putin wants to avoid, too.  The United States and Russia are trapped in a stalemate and Zelensky really has become a threat to both sides.

It seems that one way around that dilemma is to employ terrorist tactics.  So, Biden has placed the United States into the position of becoming a state sponsor of terror.  Ukraine will quite possibly devolve into asymmetric warfare.  Biden screwed the pooch pretty hard by turning a regional war into a global conflict that no one can win and everyone can lose a lot.

Doesn't anyone remember Yugoslavia?  Biden had been in Congress 20 years when Yugoslavia was broken up.
