Biggs to challenge McCarthy for House GOP leader as MTG issues word of caution

Arizona GOP Rep. Andy Biggs, former chair of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, will challenge House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy in the House GOP leadership election scheduled to be held on Tuesday.
On Monday evening, Biggs' office confirmed that he plans to run against McCarthy in the secret ballot election.
Some conservatives, including Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, have said that they do not support a challenge to McCarthy.
"I actually think that's a bad strategy when we're looking at having a very razor-thin majority, with potentially 219 [seats], we're talking about one vote," she said on Real America's Voice on Monday.
"The danger is this: Do we want to watch a challenge for Speaker of the House simply because the 'Never Kevin' movement, just like we've seen a 'Never Trump' movement — do we want to see that challenge open the door to Nancy Pelosi handing the gavel to Liz Cheney?" she added.
A large group of conservatives representing various organizations from the Club for Growth to FreedomWorks, wrote to GOP lawmakers on Monday urging them to delay the leadership election, given that control of the House of Representatives has not yet been determined.
A spokesperson for Biggs told Just the News that it's "doubtful" the election would be delayed.
The group also called for a delay in the Senate Republican leadership election, citing the upcoming runoff election for the Georgia U.S. Senate race.
