WASHINGTON, Dec 4 (Reuters) - White House budget director Shalanda Young warned in a letter to Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson and other congressional leaders on Monday that the United States was running out of time and money to help Ukraine fight its war with Russia.
President Joe Biden's administration in October asked Congress for nearly $106 billion to fund ambitious plans for Ukraine, Israel and U.S. border security.
Republicans control the House of Representatives with a slim majority, and funding for Ukraine has become politically controversial with some right-leaning lawmakers.
Young said in a letter released by the White House that cutting off funding and a flow of weapons to Ukraine would increase the likelihood of Russian victories.
"I want to be clear: without congressional action, by the end of the year we will run out of resources to procure more weapons and equipment for Ukraine and to provide equipment from U.S. military stocks," she wrote.
"There is no magical pot of funding available to meet this moment. We are out of money — and nearly out of time."
Young said U.S.

So we shouldn't be giving Israel support either?

So the left has been wrong in that sending money and weapons to Ukraine will weaken our military.

"There is no magical pot of funding available to meet this moment. We are out of money — and nearly out of time."

We are coming up on yet another government shutdown over money.  Yet every time, they've been able to come up with money for Ukraine and not to keep our government working.

By mid-November, the U.S. Defense Department had used 97% of $62.3 billion in supplemental funding it had received and the State Department had used all of the $4.7 billion in military assistance fund it had been allocated, she wrote.

And there is absolutely ZERO accountability for any of it.

But, the Biden family made a show of faith to the Ukrainian politicians - one that, as usual, he couldn't support.

The Biden's owe the Ukrainians way too much and the U.S. has to pay for Joey's indiscretions and bribes

Not so with the Middle East..

How much did Jared and Ivanka make? 640 million in 4 years? Might be time to step out of that echo chamber you are living in.

Please somehow link the irrelevancy of your comment to what I wrote.

If you can, of course.

If it is just the usual whataboutism because someone said something negative about Biden, I am not interested.

Thanks anyway

"Israel will win its battle against Hamas without American assistance. President Zelenskiy has said Ukraine will not win, and we are at that critical moment that another punt by the United States after what happened a couple months ago would be an unparalleled disaster.”

I predict that Zelensky will need American boots on the ground, not only money and military equipment  .. I do not see any other way to end this 'stalemate'... Russia is entrenched .. I am not sure even fighter jets can accomplish what Zelensky dreams of accomplishing - he wants Russia defeated, does not want to concede any land, and wants Crimea back.

The Ukrainian people are some mad crazy tough people and have fought valiantly [I think much to the surprise of Russia and the world]  .. but last I read their new recruits are in their 40s + ... Ukraine can live to fight another day!

Peace...

What has the US aid accomplished so far?  According to news reporting the war has become a war of attrition.  So, munitions and troops are being expended for no useful purpose.  Neither side is making significant gains.  The Ukrainians and Russians could sit and stare at each other across no-man's land and accomplish the same thing at much lower cost.

Ukraine is not going to defeat Russia.  Expending more money to achieve that goal is pointless.  And it's become obvious that Russia is not going the defeat and annex Ukraine.  Ukraine defending against Russian advances would not require as much munitions and manpower as would a Ukrainian assault on occupied territory.  The war has settled into a stalemate that doesn't require intense fighting or expenditure of resources.

The United States doesn't need to provide as much aid as it has over the past two years.  The war has changed to conditions where more military aid would just be wasted without achieving anything significant.

The U. S. does not NEED to be involved with Ukraine.  Other than the Billions of dollars we have paid to them, what do they have that we need to protect - 'cept the Biden's????  Nothing.

Then was an agreement / treaty - do not recall what it is called .. but if Ukraine gave up Soviet era nukes - the US would defend Ukraine against a nuke attack .. outside of that, there is nothing the US needs nor wants from Ukraine - even back in 2014 I never understood why the Obama administration wined and dined the interim prime minister after the coup... only thing I can think of is Obama had his eyes on getting the Sevastopol Black Sea port, which makes no sense, but I think Putin thought the same thing when he annexed Crimea.
