Look at this picture. It was taken in the 50s or 60s. I am not sure. But there are a few things to notice in it. People were far thinner back then, and women dressed much more modestly. Obesity rates among adults in the US in 1950 was 10 percent. In 2020, it was 42.4 percent of adults. It has increased 26 percent just since 2008. Learning to eat in moderation is greatly needed in this country. Up to 80 percent of people dying from Covid are obese. Most obese people have comorbidities.

What has changed since the 50s and 60s? Fast food is abundant now and so is processed food. Many women are no longer cooking for their families. Sadly, many families are broken these days. The mothers aren't home during the days, or the parents are divorced. All of this has contributed to the obesity we are seeing in our country.

People eat far more sugar now than they did then. Seed oils are a huge part of it too. People used to eat butter and lard. Now, they eat corn oil, sunflower, safflower, canola, peanut, and grapeseed oil. None of these are healthy. It's far better to eat extra virgin olive oil, ghee, tallow, lard, coconut oil, avocado oil, and butter. All restaurants except for the few health conscious ones and fast food joints use junky oils.

Learning to eat in moderation is crucial for not becoming obese. Many will try to put blame on their obesity on many things except for their lack of self-control. Few were obese many years ago in America. People must become responsible for how much they eat and what they eat, and stop blaming it on something outside of their control. Besides needing to eat healthy, we need to exercise. We weren't created to sit around all day. These lock downs have been horrible on the health of Americans! Instead of teaching people to eat healthy, get sunshine and exercise, they tell people to mask up, social distance, slather themselves with toxic chemicals, and inject themselves with toxic ingredients with no long-term studies available.

Did you notice how all of the women in the picture above are either dressed in dresses or in bathing suits which are far more modest than the ones women wear today? I wouldn't call the bathing suits exactly modest, but they are far more modest then than they are now. I would be thankful if women went back to wearing those rather than the thong bikinis in which they are practically naked. Even so, we must, as believers in Jesus Christ, hold our standards to God's Word, not what past generations did or didn't do. The dresses in the picture are definitely modest. The bathing suits not so much.

How does a woman who wants to lose weight lose the weight? Check out intermittent fasting. Get rid of all of the junk food in your home. Eat whole, healthy food. Learn to cook from scratch. Be busy at home. Take long walks every day if you can. Eat in moderation. Remind yourself that you can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you. You are dead and freed from sin! Read Romans 6 and 8 over and over again until you believe it. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, a fruit of the Spirit is self-control. Teach your children self-control. This is a gift that you give them.

Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Philippians 4:5

These are a few of the other articles  on the seeded web site.

Here is a portion of an article

“When women are let loose to do as they please, away from the influence of men, they have not come up with a cornucopia of great inventions and discoveries. Instead, they have aborted tens of millions of infants, blamed all their problems on men, voted leftists into office, become excessively promiscuous, gotten worthless college degrees and demanded equally worthless make-work jobs, believed that wealth falls like manna from Heaven, come to believe marriage is temporary, destroyed children’s lives though easy divorce and single parenthood… and rationalized every bit of it.”

Political opinions are a different matter.

What I want to know is why was it that when people ate what they wanted, they looked so much better?

If this article is about the increase in obesity-- why did it mention "women dress much more modestly"?

You seeded an article from a website that advocates the submission of women to their husbands, because the Bible says so.

People today have the option to eat whatever they want, unless they are poor then in many cases they cant afford fresh ingredients, which are more expensive, and end up eating more processed food.

Well, since Jesus is so important to the author of the seed, and Jesus was a Jew, maybe people should be more Jewish and eat more  Jewish K-rations: kishka, kugel, kreplach and knishes, and also latkes, hamantaschen and rugelach.  Did Jesus eat brisket in his last supper?

I guess there is no obvious answer to why we now have a 40% obesity rate.

Maybe it is what is put in the food.

At any rate, thanks for playing.

I think it is fast food, first, but then eating out in general, second, and finally poor choices in what we prepare for ourselves.

Food manufacturers design for taste first, health second (if at all).   This is especially true for the convenient 'food'.

Bottom line, it takes a real effort (and money) to find and prepare healthy meals.   For those who do not do this, the default will almost certainly be a poor diet that not only is high in fat, but is full of cholesterol, sugar, salt, etc. to enhance the taste at the expense of long term health.

The seed focuses too much on women so the health aspect is diluted.

My wife, who grew up on a farm, grows most of the veggies we eat, and we eat a lot more vegetables than other foods, and Chinese cooking is hardly fattening anyway.  I came here more than 17 years ago a little bit overweight but I slimmed down fairly quickly and have been slim ever since.  I suggest that people eat more Chinese food, as long as your government doesn't ban it because it is scared it will turn people into, here goes the boogie-man. COMMIES.  LOL.

I agree.   Asian food in general is healthier than what we eat in the USA.   The Japanese diet, for example, is very rich in fish and vegetables.    No dairy products (traditionally) help considerably.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, Vic.  Maybe the Kanamits have shrunk from their 9 foot size, or maybe they're hiding somewere, because THEY may be responsible for the fattening up of Americans.  One day people might realize that their book "To Serve Man" is actually a cookbook.

The closing narration: The recollections of one Michael Chambers, with appropriate flashbacks and soliloquy. Or, more simply stated, the evolution of man. The cycle of going from dust to dessert. The metamorphosis from being the ruler of a planet to an ingredient in someone's soup. It's tonight's bill of fare from the Twilight Zone.

There's more than one factor.

IMO they can mainly be due to two things:

1. Huge increase in per capita consumptiion of sugar.

2. Due to labor saving machines, people are less active.

I grew up in a rural area so that is where my perspective comes from. Probably 80% of food on our table was home grown, with no chemicals/pesticides, etc. We had fruit trees/bushes, huge vegetable garden. We had chickens, both for eggs and eating. We had lambs, sheep and went in with neighbors to purchase a cow from a local rancher that was then butchered, meat divided up between families. We canned/froze many food items. We had full sit-down dinners every night.

Suffice to say I think we've replaced simple home cooked foods for easily prepared meals full that are processed with preservatives/chemicals.

As for body types shown, please! Comparing Grace with Whoopie? Why not compare her to Kate Middleton, Anne Hawthway, Blake Lively, or many other white women. And Marilyn with whomever that is, they both look good so not sure what your point is there.

I could have made other comparisons or did it different ways. Race and gender are not the point and say more about those who instinctively see it that way.

The comparison of "Grace" to "Whoopie" was not about body types. That was clearly labeled personality perspectives. In other words, the human race hasn't evolved. It has devolved.

Yet you mention people being thinner, and obesity...that is body type.

Do you know what Grace would be like in today's world? You don't. Comparing personalities of women from two different eras is not valid. Same with Marilyn and whomever is in other picture. Different eras, different society, different views, etc.
