And Now for the Real Investigation

Since 2016 the nation has been subjected to some highly publicized yet bogus investigations. Two of those investigations were intended to find crimes involving the current President. The other one was a farce conducted in order to exonerate the clearly guilty. In the process people were caught up in political intrigue, some prosecuted for process crimes, while others had their reputations destroyed. An administration, though miraculously successful, has been hamstrung via a daily barrage of false allegations for more than two years. Millions have been spent and major news organizations have destroyed their own credibility in the process.
Without any fanfare the Inspector General of the DOJ, Michael Horowitz, has been conducting an internal investigation of senior officials of the FBI and DOJ to find out how the Trump campaign investigations began, since they appear to have begun without any criminal predicate.
Michael Horowitz
The IG's investigation is limited in scope to the DOJ and FBI. Mr Horowitz has limited powers and his investigation will be the starting point in reforming the two agencies, which were heavily politicized by the Obama administration. The results of his investigation, which began last March, are expected sometime in the next few weeks.
However, another wider investigation on the same matter is about to begin. This one will be conducted by a US attorney.
John Durham
The main reason a US attorney would be selected to conduct an investigation is due to the appearance of criminality. Yesterday AG William Barr assigned the US attorney in Connecticut to examine the origins of the "Russia" investigation and determine, once & for all, if collection efforts of the Trump campaign were lawful an appropriate. This is a serious matter for those who care about civil liberties. The investigation will cover all matters involving the surveillance of a political campaign and US citizens. It will look as far back as the pre-transition period prior to inauguration day in 2017 as well as the use & initiation of informants as well as FISA abuses and the use & creation of the infamous "Steele Dossier."
John Durham has had a long & distinguished career at the Justice Department. Among his most notable achievements was a special investigation into the CIA's destruction of videotapes, depicting the torture of terror suspects and the collusion of an FBI agent (John Connolly) with Boston mobster Whitey Bulger. FBI agent Connolly was convicted of racketeering, obstruction of justice and murder. There was also the case of the four innocent men that the Boston FBI were comfortable with rotting in jail.
Durham has a stellar reputation, but we can expect the liberal media and democrats to extend their smear campaign to Mr Durham at any time now.
Waiting in the wings is Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham.
Lindsey Graham
The Senate Judiciary Chairman intends to conduct an investigation of these matters as well and has sent letters to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General Michael Horowitz regarding communications between a State Department official and Steele, the former British intelligence agent who compiled the dossier used to obtain the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants to spy on Trump campaign officials.
In his letter/letters, Sen. Graham requested that:
- All documents and communications on or after May 1, 2016, between State Department and DOJ employees or officials relating to Christopher Steele, the presidential campaign of Donald J. Trump, or anyone associated with the Trump campaign.
- The State Department make Ms. Kavalec available for a transcribed interview with the Judiciary Committee.
- DOJ Inspector General Horowitz consider this new information as he continues to investigate potential FISA warrant abuse.

I guess the AG wasn't intimidated by all the jail threats?
The good thing is all these investigations will be going full tilt into next year as the election draws nigh. I am sure the democrats will have run out of ammunition when it comes to trying to get rid of Trump, and will have gone on the defensive as all the likely suspects are being grilled for hours on end about the depth and breadth of the left wing criminality.
Kind of the opposite of the way the dems & Mueller thought it was going to go!
Let me add this before this hits page 109:
"This is the third investigation into the origins of the Russia probe. The Justice Department's inspector general is examining the Justice Department's handling of the investigation, and the U.S. attorney in Utah was previously asked to review aspects of the investigation."
(Don't forget - TERMS OF SERVICE!)
It will be difficult for Dems to tarnish Durham's notable career and reputation - he's worked for Reno, Holder, and Mukasey - but I'm sure they'll try.
You bet!
Another good thing about Durham is that he has prosecutorial powers ... and Congress doesn't. For decades, he's been the "go-to guy" for both Dems and Reps.
That's right! They are petrified!
There's no telling where it will all lead to
If they get evidence of Obama's involvement on voice tape or email, he's likely to be toast.
They are not going to get Obama; but several of his yes men and women will take the fall. They knew what he wanted- he didn't have to tell them. The buck will never stop with him.
As for Comey and Mueller- they are too high up the food chain. At best they will be put into an exceedingly bad light and Republicans will never allow them to hold federal power again.
There is no telling where it goes. Only one man gets away - Rod Rosenstein. He found an accommodation IMO. He rides off into the sunset leaving all the others unprotected!
They have the Stzrok/Page texts stating that POTUS (Obama) wanted to know everything that they and others were doing.
This all reminds me of Benghazi Benghazi Benghazi, and the endless high hopes the right wing conspiracy buffs had about that. Same result this time. Nothing.
Benghazi wasn't a criminal investigation. It was a congressional fact finding investigation.
Same result this time. Nothing.
Ask President Hillary Clinton about that.
Oh, I see, you are proud that your asshole got elected because the Republican Party smeared Clinton for years over Benghazi. Now you want to do it again.
The Democrats really need to learn to fight nasty and dirty like the right does. They havent figured it out yet.
I'm sure it does. I'm not a psychiatrist, so I can't help you on that.
John, I'm gonna be kind to you - please note - "While we shall try and tolerate robust debate, name calling and smearing will be prohibited."
Where in the world have you been, John?
The Democrats have been fighting nasty and dirty ever since Trump came down the escalator. And it has gotten so ridiculous that they have been talking about having Barr arrested and tossed in jail!
It really appears that the Democrats are guilty of overreach and abuse of power, and it could go much deeper.
Republican Party smeared Clinton for years over Benghazi
Reality smeared Clinton, not the Republicans. Amazing that facts are so scary to Democrats.
e Democrats really need to learn to fight nasty and dirty like the right does
After the last two years you can't possibly be serious, can you? The false accusations of Trump being a traitor may be the dirtiest political trick of all time.
that's not your call Vic. Trump's an asshole. That is not even in question.
Trump is a pathological liar. Of course people say unkind things about him. What do you expect?Personally, I would say unkind things about the people who voted for him and still support him, but NT does not allow it.
It is AMAZING that at this late date Trumpsters still think that he will get respect. That train left the station about 20 years ago. But especially after 2011.
Oh now I see what happened Vic, you chicken shittedly posted this to a group so you can delete comments. It is not against NT rules to call Trump an asshole other than in a group hosted by the right.
No problem. I just wont bother commenting on your seeds anymore if they are in a group.
All I can say is that the premise for this investigation is coming from a WH that obstructs in the open I actually welcome this investigation because I've read a lot of information about how it all started and its nothing like the narrative being told by Barr and conservatives. There is actually already a lot of information in the public domain. So bring it on. Won't stop the house from its constitutional duties investigating Trump either. After watching so many fake gop 'scandals' over decades, we know how they start and what they look like. Might be one too many cries of wolf.
Barr really hasn't drawn any conclusions. He just wants it looked at - by a US Attorney! So I'm glad to hear that you welcome the investigation, as do I. We agree on that one.
Won't stop the house from its constitutional duties investigating Trump either.
Nor will stop the President from exercising his rights either.
I'll be ready with the popcorn and a few cold drinks!
