When is the first 2020 Democratic Primary Debate?
The first 2020 Democratic Primary Debate, aired on NBC and MSNBC, will be held over two nights on June 26 and June 27, 2019. The debate will feature back-to-back primetime broadcasts on consecutive nights to ensure each candidate gets access to a primetime audience.
Which candidates will be in the first debate?
Night 1 – June 26
Booker, Castro, de Blasio, Delaney, Gabbard, Inslee, Klobuchar, O’Rourke, Ryan, Warren
Night 2 – June 27
Bennet, Biden, Buttigieg, Gillibrand, Harris, Hickenlooper, Sanders, Swalwell, Williamson, Yang

How many debates will there be?
The Democratic National Committee has sanctioned up to 12 debates starting in June of 2019, with the early debates possibly featuring back-to-back nights of primetime broadcasts.

The table below contains a list of debates for the 2020 Democratic primary. The Democratic National Committee has not announced the actual dates of the debate but has said there will be 6 debates in 2019, starting on June 26-27, and another 6 debates in 2020 starting in January.

First Debate
June 26 and 27, 2019 NBC News Democratic Primary Debate Time: 9 p.m. ET (6 p.m. PT) Aired On: NBC, MSNBC and Telemundo Live Stream: NBCNews.com Night 1 - June 26 Booker, Castro, de Blasio, Delaney, Gabbard, Inslee, Klobuchar, O'Rourke, Ryan, Warren Night 2 - June 27 Bennet, Biden, Buttigieg, Gillibrand, Harris, Hickenlooper, Sanders, Swalwell, Williamson, Yang The debate will air at the same time and on the same channels on each night. Location: The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, Florida Moderator: Savannah Guthrie, Lester Holt, Chuck Todd, Rachel Maddow and José Diaz-Balart Qualifications : A candidate will need to either have at least 1 percent support in three qualifying polls or provide evidence of at least 65,000 individual donations from a minimum of 200 different donors in at least 20 states. Tie-breaker rules will be used to limit the debate to 20 candidates. |
