When Trump withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal on Wednesday, European companies were faced with a stark choice. Do they continue doing business in Iran and risk being prohibited from doing business with the United States and with any bank who does business with the United States? Or do they pull out of Iran? The answer to that question will become more clear in the next few weeks as Steve Mnuchin and the green eyeshades guys in Treasury begin to reimpose pre-2015 sanctions (I have to say, Mnuchin is the first Treasury Secretary I’ve seen who seems positively gleeful about slapping malefactors with sanctions, I hope it becomes a tradition).

Iran has released this video, May 13, 2018:

There is an interesting section in the letter:

zarif-letter.jpg

Shortly before Trump withdrew from the agreement, Zarif’s spokesman had something to say which seems related to that section:

H.J.Ansari Zarif’s senior advisor: “If Europeans stop trading with Iran and don’t put pressure on US then we will reveal which western politicians and how much money they had received during nuclear negotiations to make # IranDeal happen.”
That would be interesting. # JCPOA

I wish I could say I was shocked that Iran was paying off Western diplomats and officials to negotiate a deal that gave it everything it wanted and demanded nothing in return.

So now you believe Iran without 1 piece of evidence?

How can Trump be off topic when he is named in the article?

Are you going to dispute the Billions given to them to agree to that dirty deal?

How can Trump be off topic when he is named in the article?

Because I don't need to hear the same hateful comments that have 0 to do with the topic.

Are you going to provide any evidence of those "billions"?

CBS was pretty accurate.

Lawfare is also accurate that the settlement avoided much stiffer awards by the World Court

There was a significant risk that the Tribunal might rule against the U.S. in these cases and order the U.S. Government to pay very large awards to Iran.

On the other hand Obama dug his heels in and stood firm on freezing $2billion additional Iranian in assets discovered in

2012 in a secret NYC bank account.  Obama went to the Supreme Court and won in 2016.

Now the money, for a variety of reasons, has not yet been dispersed. Iran sued in the World Court based on the 1955 Treaty of Amnity which should be null and void because of the Iranian Revolution, after all they reject every thing else to do with the Shah, even though the WC said Iran's "hands were dirty" and the suit should be dismissed. It will be up to Trump to honor or ignore the WC.  In this case one would hope the POTUS and WC end up on the same page. If not Trump should ignore them and release the funds to American victims.

Your article is about bribes to "Western Diplomats"...

Iran’s Foreign Minister Threatens To Expose Western Diplomats Who Took Bribes To Create The Iran Nuclear Deal

Your "evidence" is money paid to Iran.

The 2 don't exactly match up.  Which direction are you claiming the money is going?  To the West or to Iran?

The 'seed' is also presented as if it just happened when in fact the article is from 05/13/2018

and neither Zarif or Ansiri have followed through with the threats.

Zarif is still the foreign minister.

While Ansari is a popular name in Iran, I could find no other reference to him other than this article.

Can you document the "recurring theme of bribes"?

Otherwise the comment,

“If Europeans stop trading with Iran and don’t put pressure on US then we will reveal which western politicians and how much money they had received during nuclear negotiations to make # IranDeal happen.”

seems clearly directed at the Europeans to me.

Since the remark was made before Trump pulled out of the deal in May of 2018 and neither Zarif or Ansari

have followed through on that threat in the last 20 months,

maybe, just maybe they were bluffing.

What a inane comment, If I could document it we would have a few Democrats sitting behind bars now wouldn't we, Hence my statement a recurring theme. Can you understand that.

They are threatening to do it again. I hope they do but release the information but I doubt they will, the people that will be exposed, I'm sure, are the same ones resistant to President Trump.

Isn't Kerry the person who has been identified as "giving advice" to Iran?  Wonder what kind of advice that would be for a non-governmental person to be giving to a foreign government?

I'm sure it had a lot to do with putting pressure on the President during an election year. Having the faux impeachment thrown into the mix is an added bonus

How hilarious.  Accusing democrats of taking bribes.

Talking about the current administration, who isn't taking bribes?
