Pastor Hyeon-Soo Lim went missing in January 2015 while taking part in a humanitarian mission in North Korea. He resurfaced months later when, presumably under coercion, he publicly confessed to crimes against the state and began serving a life sentence.

The pastor was finally released earlier this month after a high-level Canadian delegation arrived in North Korea to intervene.

While rejoicing at the news, Gina Goh of International Christian Concern is worried about three Americans, including one pastor, who are still imprisoned for their religious beliefs. They are Pastor Kim Dong Chul, Kim Sang-duk, and Kim Hak-song.

"We really don't know what's going to happen," she says, "but given the tensions [between the two countries] it's not likely that (North Korea) will at will just release more Americans for us."

No matter the likelihood of release, she says, the U.S. government needs to keep human rights issues in the forefront.

North Korea has a "deplorable record" for its treatment of prisoners, she points out, and it's ranked among the worst countries in the world that persecutes Christian believers.

The United States should remind the world at every opportunity that North Korea is an evil regime, she says, and the U.S. should never forget about those being held captive. https://www.onenewsnow.com/persecution/2017/08/16/dont-forget-the-persecuted-in-wicked-north-korea
