Pelosi Announces '9/11-Type Commission' To Investigate Capitol Insurrection

This is a GOOD THING.
It is the best - and least politicized - way to get a complete image of what happened on January 6, 2021.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced on Monday a new move toward getting to the bottom of the violent insurrection at the Capitol that ex-President Donald Trump incited on January 6.
Pelosi cited in her announcement the evidence presented at Trump's Senate impeachment trial, which ended with his acquittal on Saturday, and Lt. Gen. Russel Honore's review of the Capitol's security measures.
"It is clear from [Honore's] findings and from the impeachment trial that we must get to the truth of how this happened," the Democratic leader said.
"To protect our security, our security, our security, our next step will be to establish an outside, independent 9/11-type Commission" to investigate the siege, she continued.
House investigators are currently probing the lead-up to the siege and the security failures that allowed the mob of Trump's followers to breach the Capitol. Acting Chief of Capitol Police Yogananda Pittman and several other senior officials at the agency have testified in front of the House Appropriations Committee.

We need a inquiry that can take the time to dig deep. It will depend largely on the chairperson.
Well, this is unsurprising. They needed something like this commission to confer the status of eternal bogyman onto Trump. I think they would do this even if it happened that Trump died a week ago. They want to keep Trump alive in the minds of the public so that they can claim "we need to take such and such action or Trump is going to get us!" Or "the Republicans are evil because they serve house Slytherin and serve Lord VolderTrump. I can see Adam Schiff holding press conferences where he forever tells us the evidence about to be presented will unequivocally prove guilt while never actually getting around to presenting the evidence. And of course the media will endlessly speculate and/or assert "facts" from "persons familiar with the matter."
In the end, I expect this to develop into the Left's version of Qanon.
Alternatively...
... people would like to know the intentions of the guy with the wrist-ties. People would like to know what became of the stolen goods. People would like to if there was complicity from within - either staff or Congresspeople.
People WANT to know EXACTLY what the fuck went down.
... well... except the people who would like everyone to forget that anything happened on January Sixth...
