PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE.       POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.

Please remember that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.

This worked quite well the first time, so let's try it again.  The symbols or pictures represent either the title of a movie or an important item or aspect of the movie or is in some way representative of it.  None of the image clues are actual screen shots from the movie films.  Some of the questions are about relatively well known movies, but some classics and lesser known ones are included.  This one will be a little harder because I'm running out of movies that I can provide clues for.  Please number your answers the same as the images.

I will need a bit of time to try and figure out the meaning of the clues. Although I think I have the last one.

So far, with only two members having submitted their answers, between them only 3 questions have not been named correctly, numbers 7, 10 and 14.

I only got 3, I think. I'm not going to embarrass myself.

There are members who got scores of 5 and 3 who were not embarrassed, but who still enjoyed the exercise.  You would not be embarrassed because I only publish winning scores.  If anyone should be embarrassed it would be me as I only got half of JohnRussell's quiz right and I hold myself out to be the movie maven on this site.

I was on vacation the past two weeks. However, there's only one that I think I can figure out. It's pretty pointless to submit if there's only one that I even have a potential guess.

Yeah, as I said, this one is harder because I'm having trouble coming up with more movies that I have not already used (although with some I can change the clues) and where the clues would not be much too easy or too hard.  As well in almost every case I have to use movies I've seen myself in order to come up with clues.  I don't get to see movies here until they are at least 3 years old because I don't go to movie theatres.

Maybe when I have time, I will come up with a movie quiz with more modern or different genre than you usually watch.

Please do, the more the merrier and more members become interested.  However, if the movies you choose are all less than 3 years old I can't even try guessing.

Similar could be said about movies that are 30+ years old for me. jrSmiley_82_smiley_image.gif

Genres make a difference for me too; I don't watch war movies or westerns.

I DO want to point out, however, that this quiz is NOT impossible.  One participant has already got a score of 15 out of 20, and two others have a score of 14 1/2 out of 20.

Sorry Buzz.....I just can't figure out any of the clues to the movie they are for. I haven't seen many movies for several years other than the ones I see on the Internet. So it is hard for me to put the clues with their movie.

Apologies are not necessary.  None of the movies are recent. I don't get to see movies myself unless they are 3 years old so I can never use those movies.

Although I doubt anyone is interested due to current events in America....

This quiz has now had its week-long run and there were 7 participants.  In first place was Kathleen with a score of 15 out of 20, tied for second were Trout Giggles and Snuffy with 14 1/2 each and in third place was Greg TX with 13.  Honourable mention goes to JohnRussell with 11. (I was only able to get 10 out of 20 on his quiz. LOL)

I'm running out of movies that I have seen in which I can create clues that are neither impossible nor obvious or determinable by searching the internet, so it will be a while before I will be able to post another quiz.

Here are the answers to this quiz.

  1.  Doc Hollywood - stethoscope indicates doctor, and the "giveaway" HOLLYWOOD sign
  2.  Runaway Jury - people running away, and a courtroom jury box
  3.  Girl With a Pearl Earing - a pearl, and an artist
  4.  White House Down - the White House, and a "down" sign
  5.  Meet Joe Black - two men meeting (one all black), and the grim reaper symbolizes the spirit of death
  6.  Hunt for Red October - a submarine, and a caterpillar signifying the silent "caterpillar drive" used by it.
  7.  Yellow Submarine - a submarine, and "glove".  Doesn't anyone remember "Glove"?  Of course I could not post the ACTUAL glove from the movie, or I might as well have posted a yellow submarine.
  8.  How Green Was My Valley - a green valley, and a coal mine
  9.  On the Beach - inside a submarine due to nuclear fallout, and an Australian beach
  10. 30 Seconds Over Tokyo - WW2 bombers dropping bombs, and the pilot protagonist had lost a leg
  11. The Longest Day - both the sea invasion at Normandy, and the use of both dummy and many live parachuters, I also accepted D-Day.
  12. The Sun Also Rises - A rising sun, and a bullfight
  13. Coming to America - "He's so rich he even has his own money", and a restaurant signifying his first job in America
  14. Kind Hearts and Coronets - hearts, and TWO coronets.  One of Alec Guiness' best movies, wherein he plays multiple roles. Those were coronets, used by lesser royalty, not crowns, and there were two to signify multiple.
  15. 12 Angry Men - a jury deliberation room, and a very angry man
  16. Jumanji - a board game with dice being played, and monkeys in the kitchen
  17. Becket - a king and the Archbishop of Canterbury
  18. The Mouse That Roared - a mouse, and a lion roaring
  19. Dreamer - a horse with a broken front leg - and a man dreaming.  The horse clue might even have been a screen shot and by itself could be been a sufficient clue.
  20. Million Dollar Baby - the clues are too obvious, a million dollar banknote and a baby.
