Ushering in Totalitarianism: The Great Snowflake Meltdown
In the Spring, up here in New England and all over the northern USA, snow melts in preparation for warmer months – the warmer months when just about everyone shakes off the sleep of winter and welcomes the warmth of the life giving sun – and that is the way it has been for eons.
But there is a change. Yes, there is a change in the air. Not a change in climate. But a change as to when and how Snowflakes melt down.
Usually, Snowflakes melt down into life giving water. But now they melt down and deliver not life, but destruction.
Of course, I am talking about the people who have been terrorizing American cities, American neighborhoods and American streets.
These people have been given a nickname: “Snowflakes." These Snowflakes always seem to bring with them, destruction and disruption. Neither of which is good for a just and moral society. Yet being just or moral is not on their agenda.
While they claim they are standing for democracy, they are proving how ignorant they are because they are standing, instead, for totalitarianism. You see, Snowflakes today believe that it’s their way or the highway.
You either agree with them, or you need to be punched in the face. You either stand with them, or have your business vandalized or even destroyed. You either repeat their mantra, or your private property, such as your car, will be set ablaze.
So I ask you, how is that democracy? How is that giving voice to the voiceless? How is that allowing the arena of ideas to grow and flourish?
Obviously, Snowflakes are after only one thing: total and complete control. Forget what the rest of the country wants. Forget what slightly more than half of the country wants. Forget what the vast majority wants. It is only their small-minded, small minority population that counts.
The media is enabling a generation of failures.
The sad truth is they ARE ushering in totalitarianism and are too damn stupid to realize it.
So I ask you, how is that democracy? How is that giving voice to the voiceless? How is that allowing the arena of ideas to grow and flourish?
Please enlighten me as to the ways of correctness.
So let me ask you oh ye of the adipose encased talus, when are you going to give us a thoughtful analysis of what will make America great? If you would like a starting point, how about this?
"If this were a republic by any reasonable definition, the government wouldn’t assert a claim of ownership over the people from whose consent it supposedly obtains its legitimacy. The belief that we are the property of the government is the only rational basis for pretending that the government can dictate what we consume."
My friend, it is only abuse if you consider yourself a minority....
“An ethnic minority can live in peace with an ethnic majority as long as the majority does not use its preponderance to turn the institutions of the state into an instrument of ethnic favoritism or ethnic justice.”
― Michael Ignatieff, The Warrior's Honor: Ethnic War and the Modern Conscience
If people want to wake up and understand what is going on, they need a basis. This book will help one get a basis....
One of the best books I ever read....
He also says...
“The problem with nationalism is not the desire for self-determination itself, but the particular epistemological illusion that you can be at home, you can be understood, only among people like yourself. What is wrong with nationalism is not the desire to be a master in your own house, but the conviction that only people like yourself deserve to be in the house.”
Although written in modern times, it encapsulates the ideals of the founders on a number of issues that effect us today....
Steve, I'm finding I agree with you a lot my friend.....
it is only abuse if you consider yourself a minority....
One could be a minority within the majority, presuming the majority is defined by ethnic or some other type of tribal system. That individual would be a minority in thought, which may, or may not, make them a member of the tribe. Apparently, in the world of American politics today, it would make them a disgrace to the tribe and therefore, worthy of abuse.
So many avenues of thought to explore.
I have not heard of Michael Ignatieff, but I did a quick search on the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. Below is a link to the search:
I spend a lot if time on this site. It is really a wonderful tool.
I agree that we do seem to agree on a lot, and even when we disagree, we eventually seem to find common ground. Your presence and thoughtfulness is much appreciated. Thank you.
"Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind."
_ Albert Einstein
"All of nationalism can be understood as a kind of collective narcissism."
_Geoff Mulgan
"Born in iniquity and conceived in sin, the spirit of nationalism has never ceased to bend human institutions to the service of dissension and distress."

Gloat while you may …

National Security Council spokesman Edward Price resigns over Trump and Stephen Bannon
February 21, 2017
Another senior figure at the National Security Council, the high-level advisory panel of military and intelligence leaders who counsel the president on national security policy, has resigned in the wake of President Donald Trump 's whirlwind first few weeks in office.
Edward Price, a career CIA employee who served as an NSC spokesman for three years, penned an op-ed in the Washington Post explaining he had resigned over Trump's "disturbing" actions. Price cited Trump's casual dismissal of evidence linking Russia to hacks of Democratic Party targets during the election as well as "ego and bluster" during an address to intelligence officials at the CIA in January.

This guy is not exactly a "snowflake," but he might prefigure the shit storm coming to Trump and his followers.
A True American Hero!
Anyone that makes it harder on the Trump Administration is a hero to you.
So I would say your a bit biased in making such judgments.
He is a hero because he saw what has been happening in the Trump administration and decided that his personal principles were more valuable to him then a paycheck and most of all the honor of being a part of the CIA, which had been his lifelong dream and goal. He stood up for what he believes in first. That makes him a hero.
And I'm a big believer that if a mans conscience cannot allow him to work for the president he should resign.
Good for him, and better for all.
True, but he tagged McMaster for the job vacated by Flynn, and General McMaster is nobody's yes man.... (McMaster accepted)
Probably the best choice he's made so far..... Expect the leaks, if there are any real leaks, to stop quickly. Expect Trump to slow down the rhetoric, cause McMaster will publicly humiliate him if he don't.
McMaster is a soldiers general, and an expert in security matters and strategic thinking. (and he's still active Army to boot)
True, but he tagged McMaster for the job vacated by Flynn, and General McMaster is nobody's yes man.... (McMaster accepted)
He's a Philly boy!
Probably the best choice he's made so far..... Expect the leaks, if there are any real leaks, to stop quickly. Expect Trump to slow down the rhetoric, cause McMaster will publicly humiliate him if he don't.
Not necessarily; but I believe he will cut off the nuts of Bannon and Miller … and Conway, who has been quiet lately, may be further reigned in.
