Trump's Approval Rating Drops Back To His Worst With 2 New Polls - Gun Violence a Major Factor

Donald Trump’s approval rating has slumped again to match the lowest of his presidency, according to two new polls. The surveys were conducted amid mounting activism for gun control.

Support for stricter gun laws has spiked to the   highest level since 1993   and Americans aren’t happy with Trump’s position on the issue.

A separate poll by USA Today and Suffolk University’s Political Research Center found similar results, with the president’s approval rating also   slipping to match the lowest point   that survey has found at 38 percent, with 60 percent disapproving of the job he’s doing.

Gun control looks to be a particular problem for the president.

Why would you say that? He's doing more about than his predecessor ever did. His real approval rating is about 48-50%

True indeed-- even many Republicans find that upsetting. IMO there's something not quite right with Trump-- he has some mental problems. Sad

An increasing proportion of Americans are worried that they or a family member will become a victim of gun violence. Almost six in 10 people (57 percent) are worried now — compared with 44 percent after the 2016 mass shooting in Orlando. Fears are higher among  parents of children under the age of 18  (62 percent to 55 percent for non-parents).

The survey also found that 63 percent (to 29 percent) of those polled believe that semi-automatic guns like the AR-15 used by the Florida shooter should be banned.

RCP is an average of all the polls and it's showing, (as of this posting), 41.3%, which is terrible for a 1 year president. This admin has been one scandal after another, one controversy aver another, one indictment after another. Trump, since he has taken office reached 46% approval rating...ONCE, and it only lasted a few days. And since I know someone is going to say, "well how did those polls work out for HILLARY!!!!????????". Polls reflect the POPULAR vote, which is meaningless in an election since it's the ELECTORATE that elects the president. When there is NO election, the poles reflect how POPULAR the president is, and in trumps case? Not very damn popular at all.

Trumps approval rating was 42% in November 2008. The needle hasn't moved.

Barack Obama went from 65% at the time of his election in November 2008, to 46% in March 2010.

Truly amazing how quickly Obama pissed away support.

Cool, so don't vote for Obama. Pretty sure we are talking about trump here. Just saying.

And speaking of presidents who are no longer in office-- what about George W.Bush? Or Bill Clinton? Or, for that matter, Calvin Coolidge? Millard Fillmore? Perhaps we should shift the discussion to them rather than the president who currently hold the reins of power!

The polls were also taken during more bad news for the administration, including  new charges  against former Trump campaign manager  Paul Manafort , and following revelations of  domestic abuse allegations against staffers in the White House amid continuing concerns about the  lack of security clearance  for personnel.

Trump's approval ratings have been remarkably steady.  4 out of 10 Americans approve of the piece of shit.  It is what it is.  Sad...Sad

More like three and a half out of ten. That extra five percent is still on the fence...

Trump's approval ratings have been remarkably steady.

The media often states that Trump is "playing to his base". And he does have a solid base-- a loyal group of supporters who will support him no matter what.

Then there are a few other people who were Democrats and Independents who voted for him at the time of the election because they believed he would make positive change. Those Democrats were mainly "Rust Belt" Democrats whose factories closed and they were out of work, many for the first time in their lives. . So many voted republican for the first time, hoping something radically different would change things.

I don't think most of Trump's solid "base" will change. But if those who were previously Dems change their mind about Trump, thast may swing the election. Also others whomwere true independents and had decided to try somewthing different-- Trump. Some may cgange their mind next time.

Also, there were some people who were so disgusted with the system that rather than voting for Trump or Sanders they didn't vote at all (A lot of Millennials. But the current shooting plus activism by young students may move many to vote next election).

Of course not. But this article isn't about him being impeached. Rather its about these low approvalrating might well lead him to lose the next election. (Or not run again). Also, these sentiments may cause Republicans to loose controlof the House in the upcoming midterms).
Some Dems think he will be impeached. I'm pretty sure that won't happen (unless Mueller comes up with someyuge unexpected negative surprise). But in the upcoming midterms there might be heavy Republican loses.

Are you saying he can be impeached if his ratings are low enough?  If not, what's the point of this article

Trump's approval ratings will stay low because he flip flops on most issues or plays the passive aggressive, attacking and then defending or pretending he never said what he actually said.

He is a very weak, unprincipled person and that will never change. Whether it is his massive Twitter account taking both sides of every issue, or his many bankruptcies or his many marriages, or not paying contractors, or his many unwanted sexual advances toward women, Trump wouldn't know the truth from a lie at this point because he doesn't care.
