Mayor Bowser begging for more cops
"We don’t have the officers that we need, and sadly we’ve lost three to four hundred officers in the last four years," she said. "We haven’t had officers in our schools, and we have policies that make it difficult to recruit new officers."

The nation's capital is going through a crime crisis. The DC Police Department was once defunded, and its Police officers demonized and emasculated. The other day a democrat congressman had three guns pointed at him and his car taken by thieves. The only question for Rep. Henry Cuellar is why he is still a registered democrat. Car jackings are up in DC by over 100%. Biden's DC AG doesn't like to prosecute people and the local Police Chief implies that the AG is derelict of his duties.

The mayor who once painted "Black Lives Matter" on a main street of the nation's capital is now begging for Police officers.

"We don’t have the officers that we need, and sadly we’ve lost three to four hundred officers in the last four years," she said. "We haven’t had officers in our schools, and we have policies that make it difficult to recruit new officers."   Muriel Bowser

"D.C. has seen 216 homicides as of Oct. 3, marking a 38% increase since last year.

Instances of robbery increased by 68% compared to 2022, while motor vehicle theft soared by 106%, according to data on the D.C. Metro Police Department's website."

"There is no higher priority than the safety of our residents and those who work in and visit D.C.," Bowser said, according to the Washington Post. "We are using every tool available to reduce crime and support those tasked with enforcing the law and holding those accountable who break it. Although we are seeing some positive trends in recent crime statistics, we are troubled when any individual is in a situation that makes them feel unsafe in our city. We are grateful for the work of MPD in its response, and we will continue to identify commonsense solutions necessary to fill any gaps in our public safety ecosystem, including proposing and supporting policies that ensure we are also addressing long-term, complex public safety challenges."

Does anyone think that brave men & women, some former veterans, are going to take on the dangerous responsibilities of a Police officer when every interaction with an inner-city thug who is either resisting arrest, fleeing or trying to kill the officer is scrutinized by the media? Or would such people open themselves up to being the targets of activist AGs who seek to make the Police more vulnerable to lawsuits & prosecution?

We are a very long way from the day when anyone would feel comfortable in taking a job in local law enforcement. In my lifetime the US provided adequate safety for its citizens. We now live in a very dangerous society where perpetrators of crime are not punished and the mentally ill are left on the streets and the few police we have are no longer taking unnecessary risks.

Good luck with that.

And who do you have to blame for this problem?  That's what happens when you support liberal stupidity like "defund the police".  Maybe changing your garbage policies will help.

And who do you have to blame for this problem?

Radicals and the professors who made them that way.

How did they think this was going to work out?

They proclaim "we hate you, we want you in jail, we want to defund you so you don't have a job" and then they wonder why no one wants to be a cop.  They keep proving daily that their decisions are based on keeping a few people happy until they realize they are fucking up their own city.  Too bad it is too late for many places.

She should lead the way, start by giving up her protection detail and put them in patrol cars to patrol the streets. The average DC resident doesn't have one, she should give hers up.
