The Supreme Court last week declined to hear a lawsuit against a public magnet school in Northern Virginia: Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, sadly referred to by today's Americans as T.J. In 2021, "T.J." adopted a new admissions policy. It was modeled after a bipartisan plan that Texas created in 1997, under Gov. George W. Bush. In the new Jefferson High School version, the school filled most of its freshman class by accepting the top 1.5 percent of students at every public middle school in the area. This policy allowed the High School to admit students based on merit and were diverse.
The lawsuit charged that it was an attempt to defy the earlier Court ruling on Harvard University and the University of North Carolina's race-conscious admissions, which violated the Constitution's equal protection clause. In the Jefferson High School case, merit was the key factor in admissions and thus a policy that accepts the top students from every community can create diverse classes. That satisfies both the Constitution and liberals need to feel a tingle in the leg.
Conservatives have again set the standard.

M ore than 50 percent of Americans now support the construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, according to a survey that showed a dramatic increase in public concern over illegal immigration.
According to the Monmouth University poll, 53 percent of American adults say they "favor" building a wall along the southern border against 46 percent who are opposed and 1 percent who are unsure. The figures represent a stark turnabout from April 2019, during Donald Trump 's presidency, when 56 percent were opposed and only 42 percent in favor.

And the left will run with this as some sort of accomplishment. I don't see Israel even trying to meet Hamas laughable demands of an agreement include a clear path towards a permanent end to the war and Israeli withdrawal. How do you demand a withdrawal of your enemy in a war you started?
I had also read that Israel will not honor the cease fire if Hamas does not release the hostages they have taken.
