H. RES. 598

Impeaching Joseph R. Biden, President of the United States, for dereliction of duty by leaving behind thousands of American civilians and Afghan allies, along with numerous taxpayer-financed weapons and military equipment, endangering the lives of the American people and the security of the United States.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AUGUST 23, 2021

Mrs. GREENE of Georgia (for herself, Mrs. MILLER of Illinois, and Mr. GOSAR) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

RESOLUTION

Resolved, That Joseph Robinette Biden, President of the United States, is impeached for dereliction of duty by leaving behind thousands of American civilians and Afghan allies, along with numerous taxpayer-financed weapons and military equipment, endangering the lives of the American people and the security of the United States, and that the following Articles of Impeachment be exhibited to the United States Senate:

Articles of Impeachment exhibited by the House of Representatives of the United States of America in the name of itself and of the people of the United States of America, against Joseph Robinette Biden, President of the United States of America, in maintenance and support of its impeachment against him for dereliction of duty by leaving behind thousands of American civilians and Afghan allies, along with numerous taxpayer-financed weapons and military equipment, endangering the lives of the American people and the security of the United States.

The Constitution provides that the House of Representatives ‘‘shall have the sole Power of Impeachment’’ and that the President ‘‘shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.’’.

In his conduct as President of the United States, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of the President of the United States, and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, defend, the Constitution of the United States—Joseph Robinette Biden showed dereliction of duty by leaving behind thousands of American civilians and Afghan allies, along with numerous taxpayer-financed weapons and military equipment, endangering the lives of the American people and the security of the United States.

ARTICLE I

Whereas Joe Biden failed to secure the extraction of thousands of American civilians and Afghan allies before and during the withdrawal between August 14 and August 16, 2021, putting thousands of lives in imminent danger from the Taliban.

Whereas, as Commander-in-Chief, Joe Biden has armed our enemies by leaving numerous weapons, ammunition, and other military equipment which could be used against American citizens, allies, and other civilians in Afghanistan.

Whereas Joe Biden has shown the American people that his administration failed to properly prepare for the extraction of civilian and military assets from the nation of Afghanistan.

Whereas Joe Biden abandoned tens of thousands of American citizens and Afghan allies stuck in Afghanistan at danger of being captured, tortured, held hostage for ransom, or killed.

In each of these actions, Joseph R. Biden showed grave dereliction of duty and continues to demonstrate that he is unfit to hold the office of President of the United States.

Wherefore President Biden, by such conduct, has demonstrated that he will remain a threat to national security and the Constitution if allowed to remain in office, and has acted in a manner grossly incompatible with self- governance and the rule of law. President Biden thus warrants impeachment and trial, removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States.

It doesn't fit their agenda.

If they do talk about it they will downplay it as a Republican payback for the Trump impeachments.

I hope the Republicans have lined up as many US citizens, Green Card Holders, and Special VISA holders that had to struggle to make it out of the country to interview as possible. If any didn't make it interview their family members.

Brandon seems to think grabbing as many unvetted Afghans from the Kabul airport and transporting them to the US is the same thing as getting the people he was supposed to out.

The difference is this is more legitimate than the Trump "impeachments".

Brandon seems to think grabbing as many unvetted Afghans from the Kabul airport and transporting them to the US is the same thing as getting the people he was supposed to out.

And the idiot Democrats and their supporters applaud that nonsense.

First of all it was briefly in the news a year and a half ago when the psycho Marjorie Greene filed the paperwork.

Second, US presidents dont get impeached for military actions.

Third, no one cares.

In case you missed it Republicans took control of the House. They are in charge of investigations and starting impeachment proceedings.

Second, US presidents dont get impeached for military actions.

Abandoning US civilians, Green Card holders, and special VISA holders is a military action? Try the hell again. Bringing in how many unvetted Afghans to the US (who knows how many are Taliban, Al Qaeda, or ISIS/ISIL is a military action?

Third, no one cares.

The Democrats and their sycophants in the main stream media don't care. Seems Republicans and anyone that deems US citizens valuable does care.

Find another hobby dude.

We all wish you would. Isn't there some anti Trump article you need to post or comment on?

Crime?  Still looking for an impeachable offense.

Still looking for an impeachable offense.

An impeachable offense is anything they can get to stick. We know that. But this is nothing more than tit-for-tat political theater. It's the FreeDumb Caucus saying they are playing by grade school sandbox rules.

I'm more interested in who'll be Speaker next week, than this shit.

As they demonstrated with Trump, an impeachable offense is whatever Congress says it is.

It's supposed to be "high crimes and misdemeanors", but I fear that ship sailed several years ago.

First of all it was briefly in the news a year and a half ago when the psycho Marjorie Greene filed the paperwork.

And it still doesn't answer my question in #1.

Second, US presidents dont get impeached for military actions.

You need to really do some research.

Third, no one cares.

So no one cares about abandoning US Citizens, leaving military equipment to the enemy and killing hundreds of people?  Let this have happened pre-2020 and you would have your hair on fire.

As they demonstrated with Trump, an impeachable offense is whatever Congress says it is.

Extorting a foreign country to interfere in the election process, is considered to not be an impeachable offense?  Based on where you have set the bar, there is nothing Biden has done, or could do, to even come close to justify impeachment.

They didn't impeach him for extortion, though, did they?

The Constitution says "high crimes and misdemeanors".  But neither of the impeachment articles were actually even crimes.  So the explanation was basically that Congress defines "high crimes and misdemeanors"... in other words, an impeachable offense is whatever they say it is.

Based on where you have set the bar, there is nothing Biden has done, or could do, to even come close to justify impeachment.

I don't think so, no.  But I'm not in Congress. Let's also be honest here and admit that he would have to do something insanely illegal for you to even begrudgingly admit impeachment might be a consideration.  I don't expect he will.

I hope they actually show some restraint and help us start to get back to normality, but given the Jan 6 committee nonsense and the pattern of retribution that has been set over the last decade or so, I'm not particularly optimistic.

He was impeached for the actions he took to extort Ukrainian aid in the election.

The House adopted two articles of impeachment against Trump: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

Trump's impeachment came after a formal House inquiry found that he had solicited foreign interference in the 2020 U.S. presidential election to help his re-election bid, and then obstructed the inquiry itself by telling his administration officials to ignore subpoenas for documents and testimony.

The inquiry reported that Trump withheld military aid and an invitation to the White House to Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy in order to influence Ukraine to announce an investigation into Trump's political opponent Joe Biden and to promote a discredited conspiracy theory that Ukraine, not Russia, was behind interference in the 2016 presidential election. A phone call between Trump and Zelenskyy on July 25, 2019, was particularly important—whistleblower Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman was a participant in the call, and later informed Congress.

No.  Anything I've heard so far as a "reason to impeach" has been every bit as ridiculous as impeaching Trump over a dodgy phone call.

Absolutely none of that is worth the long-term damage another impeachment will do to this country.

Yes.  Somebody has to behave like adults.  Historically that has been non-Tea Party Republicans and a few centrist Democrats. Are you going to leave that to AOC or the BernieBots?

We impeach for "high crimes and misdemeanors", not "bumbling incompetence".  The fact that 2/3 of Democrats live in an eternal tantrum doesn't change that.

IMO this article has it right.  There are more important things on the minds of voters then investigations and impeachments.  This is not to say there should not be any investigations, but the Republican majority must be smart about it come January and proactively work (and show to the public everything they are trying to do) to improve the lives of the American public.  Endless investigations that go nowhere will not improve their chances for 24.  IMO the voting public has a rather short fuse and demands action to improve their lives first.

Curiously, investigations didn’t make it to the top of voters’ concerns heading into the midterms, nor were they even close.

To be clear, Republicans should certainly be a check on progressive policies and actions that have run amok. Republicans also have every justification to probe the Hunter Biden laptop ordeal, the inexcusably botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the origins of COVID.

However, the signal coming from Republican leadership is that investigations will be zealously pursued, taking precedence over the issues that are of actual concern to everyday Americans.

To do so will be a mistake.

The single mom trying to fill her gas tank and the small business owner struggling to keep the doors open don’t care whether Project Veritas was unfairly targeted by the Justice Department or if the FBI wrongly raided Melania Trump’s closet in search of classified documents.

Republicans – both in Congress and state legislatures – would be better off spending their political capital doing the things Americans voted them in to do. That is, demonstrate they’re listening and ready to solve real world problems.

But as the midterms showed- it doesn't matter what the polls say. No where on the polls was Trump listed; and Jan 6th ranked so low it wasn't even funny; yet Brandon and the media made it all about Trump; Jan 6th; and turning 70 million plus voters that cast ballots for Trump into future domestic terrorists. If Trump had given either of Brandon's two hate filled speeches threatening to use the US military against US citizens; Democrats would have impeached him instantly.

If Republicans can tar and feather Brandon and his administration for everything they have done wrong until 2024; then voters will respond appropriately. That will work far better letting Brandon, Democrats, and their media sycophants set the narrative again.

This turn the other cheek bullshit only works in parables.

That is not to say Republicans don't have to put forward legislation to help the American people; and stop Brandon and the Democrats out of control spending. Unfortunately they have to work against the McConnell Senate Establishment RINO's- that are more than willing to go along with Democrat spending largesse.
