Manhattan DA asks judge to restrict Trump's access to evidence in criminal case | Just The News

Prosecutors have expressed concerns that Trump could weaponize the discovery process and use evidence to attack witnesses.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office asked a judge to put restrictions on former President Trump's access to and use of evidence turned over by prosecutors in his criminal case before it goes to trial.
The prosecutors also asked Judge Juan Merchan on Tuesday to prohibit Trump from reviewing the material without his attorneys being present or transcribing, copying or photographing the records.
The prosecutors also want to ban the former president from publicizing the evidence online, The New York Times reported.
Uner the Brady Rule, prosecutors must share exculpatory evidence with defendants in criminal trials in a process known as discovery as part of an effort to ensure a fair trial.
Prosecutors have expressed concerns, however, that Trump could weaponize the discovery process and use evidence to attack witnesses.
Assistant District Attorney Catherine McCaw wrote in a court filing that Trump "has a longstanding and perhaps singular history of attacking witnesses, investigators, prosecutors, trial jurors, grand jurors, judges, and others involved in legal proceedings against him," according to The Associated Press.
Merchan did not immediately rule on the district attorney's request, and McCaw asked him to schedule a hearing on the issue next week.
Trump faces 34 felony charges stemming from his alleged role in hush money payments and falsifying business records. He pleaded not guilty to all counts.
So an anti-Trump prosecutor wants to restrict a defendants (Trumps) access to evidence used in a trial. This could end very badly for this bloated asshat. But that seems to be how Democrats work.
As it damned well should. By doing that, isn't he also restricting the defense attorneys from it also? They will want to be communicating said bullshit to Trump as part of their defense. This is fucked up on so many levels.
And the dipshits on the left don't see a problem with it.
Since that evidence will mostly point towards witnesses, it is a sound request. Given Trump's history of trying to intimidate witnesses and anyone that doesn't bow to him.
So you are all for restricting the rights of people. Sadly I can't say I'm surprised.
"Under the Brady Rule, prosecutors must share exculpatory evidence with defendants in criminal trials in a process known as discovery as part of an effort to ensure a fair trial"
I believe, under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, that the accused has a right to know who his accusers are, and what the evidence against him is.
Anyone abusing or tampering with the legal process is walking on dangerous grounds.
In the meantime, Trump is entitled to freedom of speech...which people are free to ignore. I know I do.
And he will, in court.
The judge will decide.
Given Trump's past history , (there was evidence in the Jan 6th hearings that Trump tried to intimidate at least one witness ) it was a fair request for the DA to make. Fair to the people, who the DA represents. Trump's lawyers can argue on his behalf and the judge will decide.
This strikes me a as a bit funny. Anyone accused of a crime could possible do what Bragg is so concerned Donald MIGHT do. That is why there are laws against witness tampering. It also seems to me if Donald were to tamper with any witness he would actually get in more trouble than the existing charges. Makes ne wonder about why Bragg might really be doing this.
Alvin Bragg is laying the foundation for a mistrial. But then all of this was only intended to be a show trial that stretches through the next election. It's a very Clintonesque political maneuver.
If investigators really begin digging then they'll uncover dirt on Democrats. So, all these legal machinations are really about trying Trump in the court of public opinion. And it's becoming clear that Trump is only using the political campaign to throw a wrench into the legal machinations. So, Democrats' wet dream of Trump winning the Republican nomination isn't that certain; no matter how the biased unbiased press spins it.
Still... waiting. A trumped up indictment really doesn't count. Reporting violations? Really? That's all Democrats got? Democrats desperately need Trump to hide Biden in the basement.

Could? How naive. Clearly this should say would.
