Nearly 300 absentee ballots from the 2020 election were found in a Michigan county storage unit, according to a township supervisor.

The ballots were discovered in a storage unit in Genesee County, which encompasses the city of Flint, Mich., and Thetford Township.

The discovery was made by Thetford Township Supervisor Rachel Stanke through a Freedom of Information Act and presented Wednesday to the township board and residents, according to Michigan News Source.

In 2021, Stanke first became aware of the potential existence of the missing ballots. She initially contacted the Michigan attorney general and the secretary of state, then later told the Michigan State Police after receiving tips regarding the missing ballots and supposed "old township documents" that were discovered.

The storage unit was rented by a former township employee who stowed the box of ballots there, according to the FOIA records. Stanke said that the employee was not aware of the contents of the box.

The Michigan police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the ballots after recovering them in August 2022.

Stanke hopes that residents can trust the fairness and accuracy of elections. "That's why I want to bring this to their attention," she said. "And I want them to be able to make sure that their elections are run fairly and smoothly."

Katie Hicks, who lost by 19 votes in her race for Thetford Township Clerk in 2020, said she cannot trust future elections.

"Now this is all coming out and ... I'm kind of happy that it's coming out because the election is right around the corner again. And it concerns me that this will take place again for 2024," Hicks said.

So tell me again how there were no issues with the elections.

Who rents a storage locker and stows boxes that they don't know the contents of in it?

I am sure that those ballots didn't affect the outcomes of any of the 2020 elections; and that the Democrat SoS and AG will painstakingly go through each and every ballot to make sure it will be documented. The same care they took with following throw on Stanke's concern with finding the missing ballots.

Democrats want us to "trust them". I only trust them to fuck everything up even worse than Republicans.

And far right wing lies just keep on coming around.

This far right wing propaganda was debunked years ago.

Nearly 300 absentee ballots ...

There are always going to be issues when dealing with large numbers of voters.   It would not surprise me to see absentee ballots misplaced.

The issue regarding the election has been the claim that the presidential election was rigged.   (Nearly) 300 votes —assuming even if they were all for one candidate— will not change the results of the presidential election.

The issue has not been a claim that US elections are 100% perfect to the vote.   If someone has made that claim, then a link would be nice.

None of the ballots in the storage unit made it into the hands of voters in the 2020 election. That said, of the 289 ballots, 77.5% were marked spoiled, meaning most voters were issued a new ballot in order to perform their civic duty.

How scandalous.  Zzzzzzzz

Yeah I mean, what’s 65+ valid, uncounted ballets here or there?

It is, to be precise:  65 / 159,633,396 * 100 %.  ☞   0.000041 %

And 300 ballots would be:  300 / 159,633,396 * 100 %.  ☞  0.000188 %

There will always be mistakes made in a major election with much human handling of ballots.   What is important is that the true winner was inaugurated.

What is truly important is that ONLY all legally completed/submitted ballots get properly counted and handled.    Clearly that is not happening.

For years we’ve been hearing how election irregularities and fraud are not a problem.   Then when some issues are actually found you decide human error is inevitable?     One hopes your vote was not one of the 65.

So which is it?   No election problems or inevitable?   Human error or intentional action?    You simply can’t know.

And any supposition that these 65 votes from one district in one state, are the only irregularities, is absolutely nonsensical logic.    Based on your own comment of inevitability, it likely happened in others as well.   Over 175k election precincts in the USA.    A problem in only one precinct would yield about a 0.000006% problem rate.    An amazingly low rate if one believes human error is inevitable.

Like usual I don’t really expect any answers from you.    I’d settle for a public admission that there are election irregularities that could easily rise to the level of voter fraud.    It would be a refreshing change of pace to hear that coming from the left for once.

Has there ever been a national election that was 100% perfect?

Yeah, nice objective, but failure to achieve perfection should not cause people to freak out ... especially when the imperfection has no impact on the results.

Like usual I don’t really expect any answers from you.

You introduce this bullshit snark implying that I do not answer your questions.   Not only is that demonstrably utter bullshit, it is entirely counterproductive.

What?   You need someone to 'admit' that voter fraud is possible (and likely has occurred in our elections)??   Okay, Sparty, I certainly am of the opinion that there has been some fraud in our elections.   I think it is inevitable.

Happy?

Not only is it not bullshit but it is spot on.    Anyone who had disagreed with you and entered into a debate with you knows it.    Then the mods pop in to clean up your mess.   Get to reporting now!   Buff it out …..

I don’t “need” anyone here to do anything.     Your choice of words are intentionally negatively charged and sophomoric at best.   Sad!

Happy?

Yeah, speaking of snark, the public admission is refreshing even if “snarky” as you like to accuse others of.    Now pass it on to all your buddies here who are vocal election fraud deniers.

It's an interesting photo.  Did each ballot have it's own box?  Trump lost Michigan by about 150,000 votes.
