Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said on Wednesday that his state sent a bus full of migrants to Los Angeles.

The migrants were dropped off at LA's Union Station on Wednesday evening.

"Texas's small border towns remain overwhelmed and overrun by the thousands of people illegally crossing into Texas from Mexico because of President Biden's refusal to secure the border," Abbott said in a press release. "Los Angeles is a major city that migrants seek to go to, particularly now that its city leaders approved its self-declared sanctuary city status."

Abbott in his release also said that the Texas communities along the border "are on the frontlines of President Biden's border crisis," and that he would continue to provide relief for those communities until more action is done on the border.

The busing of migrants is part of a strategy from the Texas Division of Emergency Management to reduce the number of undocumented people at the border to select sanctuary cities, according to the release. It started with Washington, D.C. in 2022, and Abbott added New York City, Chicago and Philadelphia as additional drop-off locations, along with Denver most recently as a busing destination.

According to the release from Abbott's office, this busing strategy has resulted in more than 21,600 migrants being transported out of border communities deemed overwhelmed by Texas.

In a statement, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said more than 40 people were transported to LA, calling the move by the Texas governor a cheap political game. She also said that shortly after she took office, she prepared in the event something like this were to happen.

"This did not catch us off guard, nor will it intimidate us," Bass said in a statement. "Now, it's time to execute our plan. Our emergency management, police, fire and other departments were able to find out about the incoming arrival while the bus was on its way and were already mobilized along with nonprofit partners before the bus arrived."

This comes after two planes full of people seeking asylum were flown in from Florida to Sacramento. According to groups now assisting those migrants, the 36 people flown in were promised jobs and other free support.

Earlier Wednesday, California Attorney General Rob Bonta made public records requests to DeSantis' office and the Florida Division of Emergency Management related to the flights, including communications between DeSantis' office and private contractors.

It's funny that when that happens the "leadership" of these states and cities start crying.

When did Texas declare they welcomed California's homeless?  California declared itself a sanctuary city in 2017.

To anybody with integrity it does.  California, Chicago, NYC, Washington D.C., Martha's Vineyard all said they would welcome illegals into their cities / states.  So Texas and Florida are taking them up on their declarations.

Nobody declared they would take another city / states homeless.

Sure, but then I don't think Abbot has integrity when he uses immigrants as political pawns so why should anyone else? IF he did he have integrity he would be pushing his Texas Reps in Congress to put forth bills to actually fix the issue instead of posturing for partisan pissing matches.

Specifically tell me which what the Biden Admin is doing, or not doing, that would fix the issue?

The only real fix is expanding facilities and people to process asylum seekers in a timely manner. Most of them would then be sent back home instead of disappearing and ending up illegal. It shouldn't take 2 years for someone to get a work permit and pay taxes - instead the suck up resources that would be better spent on citizens.

There's nothing political about it. (Although it is telling that all these sanctuary cities and states are Democrat led.)  These places stated they would welcome all illegals and defy Federal Laws.  When they made that declaration, they assumed certain responsibilities.  Don't cry when locations that DIDN'T make that declaration take them up on their "offer".

IF he did he have integrity he would be pushing his Texas Reps in Congress to put forth bills to actually fix the issue instead of posturing for partisan pissing matches.

The problem is the Biden administration.  (Remember, Biden ceased operations to secure the border via Executive Order on his 1st day.)  Threatened states like Arizona who took it upon themselves to secure the border.  Berate states who are running operations to respond to a rise in illegal immigration in their states (i.e. Operation Lone Star).  They have also constantly lied to the American people about the southern border.

In a nut shell, these sanctuary cities are getting exactly what they ask for and are quickly realizing that they are completely unprepared to carry out the responsibilities they took on.

No.  The only "real fix" is to secure the border.  Not every schlub who crosses the border is an asylum seeker.  That's a pathetic excuse given to justify crossing the border illegally.

Asylum seekers should apply BEFORE they get to the border, which can be done online or at ANY US Embassy.  Then they have to cross at an authorized port of entry.  If they follow that, then we won't have to worry about them disappearing and being a burden on US taxpayers.

he could beef up border patrol

He did that.

and enforce the laws on the books

Which laws aren't being enforced? There are laws being enforced that again need more resources so they have prioritized levels. You may feel the priorities are wrong, but you haven't expressed that.

.. and encourage the idiots who have instituted sanctuary policies to cease them.

Most of the sanctuary policies are to get locals to cooperate with local law enforcement. They also don't have the resources to do immigration duties AND law enforcement so they have prioritized to remove violent criminals.

Your suggestions do little to nothing to fix the issues the country faces. Meeting these people at the boarders with enough people to properly process them and policies that don't penalize those who do qualify for asylum greatly reduces the number of people who just get lost and disappear from the system. It also helps those who qualify work, pay taxes, and get auto insurance.

Yeah.. how do you secure 2000 plus miles without substantially raising taxes and confiscating privately owned land?

Asylum seekers should apply BEFORE they get to the border, which can be done online or at ANY US Embassy.  Then they have to cross at an authorized port of entry

Which is what the Biden Admin has put out and told anyone not applying BEFORE coming across that they would be summarily returned without processing and refused entry for another 3 years.

How's that working out?

few ever actually qualify for asylum as they don't meet the criteria.

Yeah. That can be tweaked up and down as necessary by Congress too.

Sure it does, it fixes the quality of life for citizens not stupid enough to vote for morons who declare themselves sanctuary state and or city. let the people who are stupid enough to support these virtual signaling idiots do without services to support illegals while those who don't have a good quality of life.  without having to use a APP to avoid human feces on the street.

Much like everything else under the Biden administration - a complete and utter failure.  For it to be effective, it has to be enforced.  Something they haven't done.

You think Joe Biden is “completely responsible” for illegal immigration? Like we never had it before he became president? No one else played a part? It’s brand new as of 2021?

I could be wrong, but I believe he is referring to the current record, by a landslide, numbers of illegals that have come across the northern and southern borders, without repercussions, since he became president.

Texas is taking the major brunt of them, with little no zero help from the Biden admin. Texas has no choice but to spread the wealth to other cities, in particular blue cities that have proclaimed themselves sanctuary cities....especially LA, which reiterated their sanctuary status only a couple of weeks ago.

They asked for them...they are gonna get em.

Mmm. Let’s hope so. Even then, the illegal population has increased steadily for half a century . There is ample blame to go around.

Export them all to sanctuary states.  The only way the Biden admin will take it seriously is if his own party in blue states push back because of the cost.

Why not drive them to Mexico? It’s a much shorter trip.

Or send them to Uvalde. The police department should have lots of openings.

Dumb question. Brandon the Human Fuck Up Machine and his DOJ would sue Texas for deporting illegals.  They are already throwing a fit because Texas is taking steps to secure their border. Just like Brandon and the DOJ sued Arizona when they tried to build a container wall to keep illegals out.

Or send them to Uvalde. The police department should have lots of openings.

So just because they are illegal immigrants they are automatically qualified to be LEOs? No training needed or anything. I suppose Uvalde should be able to take an unlimited amount of illegals. Why should the city of Uvalde and Texas be responsible for caring for Brandon's illegal immigrants?

Let me see if I understand you. You think he’d sue them for that , but not kidnapping and human trafficking within the borders of the United States? Based on what?

Anyway, that’s more the Attorney General’s call.

So just because they are illegal immigrants they are automatically qualified to be LEOs?

In Uvalde? Definitely. By risking everything to cross the desert and come to America, they’ve already exhibited more courage.

Why should the city of Uvalde and Texas be responsible for caring for Brandon's illegal immigrants?

Why do you think they need caring for? They would work. In fact, they were working when they were lied to that even better jobs were waiting for them in California.

During the few days they spent in El Paso upon arriving in the United States, they slept at a shelter and got to work immediately. He earned $80 a day working construction, while his wife earned $50 cleaning up the work sites afterward.

They only came to Sacramento because they thought they were going to earn more money, which would allow them to help their children faster, she said. Now, they have no jobs and must start all over again.

“I would’ve rather stayed there to make money,” she said.
