Supplements

Does anyone else on here take supplements like Pro Biotic for digestion or Omega 3 fish oil or other supplements. I do take a couple of doctor suggested supplements for my neuropathy.

I've been interested in health for a while. My health is generally pretty good (I have no specific health conditions) so I am mainly interested in maintaining good health. Of course depending upon individual needs, requirements differ.

Its best to try to get your nutrients from food-- and then supplement. Therefore, except for things or dosages taken for specific conditions, its best to use these things as a supplement and not replacements for healthy eating. So for the most part hi-potency isn't a great idea. Meaning, for example, a low potency multi-vitamin from a reputable company. (And BTW, Multi-vitamins for men & post-menopausal women should not contain any Iron.).

Fish oil caps are also good for most people. (If you eat fatty cold-water fish many times a week, which would expose you to too much mercury....or if you are Vegan you probably don't need it)

I was skeptical about pro-biotics, but I read a lot of research-- it seems like a good idea. Some need to be kept in the frig, for others its Ok to leave at room temperature. Formulas differ-- there are many different types of "friendly bacteria" in them. Probably this supplement should contain, at the very least, Acidophilis-- and probably also Bifidum.

I take one/day of these three (multivitamin, probiotic, fish oil). Plus a few others from time to time.

I was skeptical about Amazon.com at first, but now I buy the same brands I used to buy in stores on Amazon.com instead-- sometimes their discounts are really good (& if you join Amazon prime, shipping is usally free). Most of the time they arrive in 2 days.

I take creatine, magnesium, fish oil, St. Johns wart and glucosamine. I'm not sure if any of it makes a difference. I try to eat healthy, drink plenty of water and exercise almost everyday.
