I Am Not Antisocial, I Already Belong to the Greatest Group, Humanity
Many NT members know me from NV but there are probably a few that don't and some that have never been on NV. To those who haven't heard of what some think is one of my idiosyncracies I extend this short essay. The idea of any Group is to advance the influence of the Group. Sometimes it is necessary to become a member of a small group in order to advance to a larger or more influential group. All that is just fine but some of us would rather bypass all that silly stuff and just proceed to the ultimate group, the Human Race. That is where the real value and influence is.
I understand the need for some to be church goers but I also see so many churches that there has to be a problem some where. Why do humans divide themselves over beliefs or faith? Beats me. We elect neighbors to conduct a government for us and almost insist they belong to one or another of our two main political groups. Why do these two groups have to be when they all are there for a common goal? Beats me. I guess it is natural for humans to want to segregate themselves into groups of like thinking people. Problem is we often leave the thinking part out. We join groups so our way is made easier. Let the group think for us. Let the group act for us. Let the group protect us? See where I am going?
If I meet you on an Internet social site or any site where interaction occurs, please don't think I am ignoring or opposed or uncaring. I just make it a policy not to join any group unless for some reason I feel impelled and forced to do so. That doesn't mean I care any less for those in subgroups. Subgroups being anything short of the whole world, the human race. It means I feel self sufficient and safe. Being self sufficient means I can handle almost any problem I run into. Being safe means I have friends who belong to groups that I can call on to come to my defense when necessary.
Thanks for listening.
Very interesting Jerry. I have to say, I kind of get your point. Some do feel the need to join sub groups... that ol' birds of a feather thing. And sub groups can be for a common interest. I neither endorse nor oppose them.
I remember you from the vine. I don't recall you having an issues that would require friends to intervene on your behalf. But friends that do that are true friends. Those I value the most, like you.
BTW, you posted this article in your blog. The blogs are for your thoughts and you can publish directly from there. But for discussion purposes, it is better to post an article in the forum. It will get more attention there.
Glad to have you as part of this group!
Nice to meet ya Jerry and welcome!
