DOGE Employees Revolt Against Musk With Multiple Resignations
By: StephenSilver (Political Tribune)

Is there trouble afoot at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)?
In the opening weeks of the second Trump presidency, Elon Musk's dubiously constitutional government agency took a sledgehammer to the executive branch while making questionable claims about how much money it saved.
More recently, Musk sent an email to government employees, asking them to provide answers about what they do in their jobs. The email, which mirrors a tactic used by Musk when he took over Twitter/X, has led to widespread confusion inside the government, with some agencies telling their employees not to reply.
Now, there is a report of trouble inside DOGE.

According to the Associated Press, 21 employees of DOGE have written a letter announcing their resignations, stating that they refuse to "dismantle critical public services."
"We swore to serve the American people and uphold our oath to the Constitution across presidential administrations," the employees said in their letter. "However, it has become clear that we can no longer honor those commitments."
The employees worked for what was formerly known as the United States Digital Service, which was converted into DOGE under one of Trump's early executive orders. All formerly worked at major tech companies, per the AP story, and had joined the government with a "sense of duty." DOGE had laid off about 40 staffers from the former Digital Service in the early going of the new administration.
Also, according to the letter, personnel who did not give their names grilled them on their personal politics, while some "made statements that indicated they had a limited technical understanding."
This is what courage looks like. While so many stayed silent, these people took a stand. We need more of that—right now.

"Several of these interviewers refused to identify themselves, asked questions about political loyalty, attempted to pit colleagues against each other, and demonstrated limited technical ability," the staffers said. "This process created significant security risks."
The letter added that among those who were let go were people working on important matters.
"These highly skilled civil servants were working to modernize Social Security, veterans' services, tax filing, health care, disaster relief, student aid, and other critical services," the resignation letter said, per the AP. "Their removal endangers millions of Americans who rely on these services every day. The sudden loss of their technology expertise makes critical systems and American's data less safe."

Major red flag there
heh, being a member of elon's security team is a short term job that doesn't pay enough ...
You can put lipstick on DOGE but it is still a dodge, and hey, it has doubled the number of pass-the-butts to kiss.
Dodge makes a good truck. You know who doesn't? Felon Musk. Just look at that afterbirth on wheels. That's DOGE right there!
only if it has a cummins diesel in it ...
otherwise it's a gas sucking hog on the verge of some expensive problems ...
My dad drove Dodge trucks for years. Now Mr G does
How 'bout giving us a link where Musk has been convicted and can be classified as a "felon" (as in under the legal definition - a person convicted of a felony).
We'll wait.
A whopping 21 people that apparently were hired under DOGE's predecessor organization under the Biden administration. I can understand where they would be upset over things that are happening in the last month under Trump and Musk, but I fail to see how the resignation of 21 employees makes for catastrophic scenarios they fear happening.
What would you think if 21 of your employees walked out? Does it really matter how many you had?
Probably should have been let go anyway..................that is the point of the whole exercise. Find the less valuable (ie people who don't do more than 3 hours a day work) and those who don't have email on their GovCo account cuz they are already gone....................
How would you know? Have you ever worked in a government office? Sometimes the job is to sit at your desk and answer phone calls
And the pay AND degree of "necessary" that position is is what they are looking at. We have 150 employees, sales of $25Million per year, and no receptionist. people know your extension or it goes to the general line which is answered by someone in sales whose phone is available and they talk to that person to find out whom they want/need to speak with.
Your receptionist example ought to be making about $12.00 per hour.
You know what...I don't converse with people who flag me in my own seed
Never happened because we didn’t hire dead weight.
Of course it does. [deleted][✘]
try the senile buffoon sitting at the resolute deck in the oval office ...

so now you and your buddies can stop saying only yinz get tickets
What? We were told ad-nauseum that PotUS was a 24/7/365 job and was NEVER out of touch.
And, those that do are called Secretaries or Clerks or Receptionists or etc..
'Member - we had them in the Bio offices also.
Do you believe these 21 employees are lying when they say that Musk is "dismantle[ing] critical public services."?
Yep. That remains to be seen............why leave? Why not be part of the solution and save your skin?......and paycheck. Be interesting to know their function and personal finances. Perhaps they didn't need the job anyway and were just floating.
They likely have no choice. If Musk tells them to do something and they refuse, how long before they are fired?
What do you envision as a course of action that they could take to get results?
I know you took an oath to the Constitution at one time in your life. You don't have to agree with them but they felt they were doing important work and then were disrespected. They were being told to dismantle critical public services.

It may be that those 21 folks can not or will not try to see the whole big picture of what is trying to be accomplished.
Do you have proof that they weren’t?
Proof that they were not what? That they were not lying?
No, Sparty, I obviously have no proof that they were not lying. There could be a conspiracy where they all got together and decided to just lie about what Musk is doing and then resign.
What is the probability of that? What is the likely motive?
So do you think they were lying?
Well that's just sad if people think they're lying
bullshit!
Like you I have no proof either way. Which is why I prefer to not judge it until I do.[✘]
Yes, they may be 21 experienced government workers hired by Musk because of their expertise who are just (for some reason) incapable of understanding the big picture. And they are so convinced they are right that they are willing to resign in protest.
There are always remote possibilities.
When information is scarce, I tend to go with what is most likely rather than outlier scenarios.
Your choice. But on sites like this, we engage in analysis, we opine, we discuss.
We will likely not get any better information on this so you will be waiting for a very long time. In the meantime, you will just have to deal with other opinions.
I guess the "revolt against Musk" pretty much indicates that is the case.
"bullshit!"
Sorry you fee that way. You have your opinion and I have mine. Have a good evening.

Maybe they should all go on strike, all government offices and workers all at once.
Then Americans can stop paying taxes altogether.
I mean they fired IRS workers so can't we march and demand the closing of the IRS?
Close the Internal Revenue Service.
Republicans are raising the debt ceiling by 4 trillion to give away tax cuts to the rich.
The wealthy don't pay or won't pay taxes, so why are Republicans giving them the money?
Rich people hate taxes and poor people can't pay and hate taxes, Musk thinks the government is useless so close the IRS.
Send all the politicians home, cancel all those Congressional salaries and cancel the Senate. Politicians are the most worthless employees of all right?
