The alliance between the secular left and progressive Christians to mute the truth and to advance socialism, the green new deal and the power of the state is a clear and present danger to true Christianity and to fundamental Biblical belief.  This article perfectly describes the divide as well as the willingness of progressive left liberation theology types to ally with the secular movement to attack the religious liberty of evangelical Bible believing Christianity.

Progressive ideology and the hijacking of the Christian faith

So-called “progressive Christians” do what many with a bad case do: they distract and deceive by not only redefining the standard, but redefining the moralistic sounding words they use to sell the new standard.

As only the second Catholic to hold the office, President Joe Biden continued a nearly 70-year-old tradition by addressing America during the National Prayer Breakfast earlier this month. While Biden is far from the first Democrat to address the crowd, in the new era of the ascendant Christian left, much more is at stake. In years past, Democrats almost seemed comfortable being viewed as a faithless party. But since mid-terms are usually catastrophic for the party in power, Democrats must soon find a way to convince voting Christians that Jesus would look more like a liberal than a conservative.

In order for progressive ideology to gain a stronger foothold among the masses, Biden and the woke Democratic Party must do two things: One, they must create animosity toward conservatives and traditionalists who hold to biblical ideas regarding social issues; and two, they must create a sense of moral superiority by growing an elite group of people — namely the Christian left.

A ‘woke’ socialistic agenda as a Christian alternative

The left, unable to demonstrate moral superiority based upon traditional Judeo-Christian values, must attempt to pass a “woke” socialistic agenda as a more Christian alternative. That’s where progressivist priorities — such as government-run universal healthcare, climate change, and open borders — are ostensibly a nod to Christian charity (as long as you only pay attention to the intent and not the results).

Animosity is fostered by tarring half the electorate with the political extremism that carried out the Capitol riot. The left insists that anyone associated with Trump, including evangelicals, must be immoral and evil (important note: this judgment does not apply to anyone associated with the hundreds of riots in 2020). By never letting a good crisis go to waste, the Christian left is using the Capitol crisis to sow doctrinal confusion and temporarily defend their position — as the keepers of true morality and righteousness — thus distracting from the truly anti-biblical agenda of the Democratic Party, namely abortion rights and the destruction of the biological two-parent family.

Distraction and deception

Distraction is the key to accomplishing leftist goals — to hijack anything, you need to distract (and deceive). Progressive Christians distract by using moralistic sounding language while redefining the words with leftist definitions. For example, the very word “progressive” sounds good, yet it assumes some kind of moral progress. Progress toward what? An ultimate standard of good? Such a standard can only exist if God exists. Without being “endowed by our Creator,” all talk of rights (and wrongs) are reduced to mere human opinion.

But if progressive Christians are truly progressing toward God’s standard, then why do they continually support policy positions that are clearly contrary to His standard — a standard known clearly through natural law (“we hold these truths to be self-evident”) and Scripture?

They do what many with a bad case do. They distract and deceive by not only redefining the standard, but redefining the moralistic sounding words they use to sell the new standard. We might say that they come as an “angel of light.” Here are a few examples:

Freedom to choose

Who can be against freedom and choice? No one, unless you ask them to complete the sentence. Freedom to choose what, murder? Should we have the freedom to rape and choose slaves too? And why does a woman have the freedom to choose to kill her children, but not the freedom to choose where she sends them to school?

Inclusion, tolerance and diversity

This sounds good as well. But it really means that every diverse viewpoint and behavior is to be heard and celebrated except those that do not agree with the left. God honoring viewpoints — like those held by Jesus and his apostles — will not be tolerated. Ironically, in the name of “inclusion tolerance and diversity,” the Christian left will exclude anyone agreeing with Jesus! (Forget the church — it’s the left that convicts people of heresy, and always without a trial.) And why do people call themselves Christians when they disagree with Jesus? Progressive Christian is an oxymoron.

Equality

Again, who can be against that? No one if it means the biblical and American ideals that we are all created as equal images of God, and that the law should not show favoritism but treat everyone equally. However, that’s not what the Christian (or secular) left means by equality. To the left, “equality” now means two things:

(1) All sexual behaviors and gender identities must be embraced as normative (again contrary to the Bible and common sense), and anyone who disagrees will not be treated as an equal but cancelled; and

(2) Everyone is entitled to the same outcome. (Equality of opportunity has become “equity” meaning equality of outcome.) Biden’s recent equity executive order flips the Bible and Martin Luther King on their heads. Instead of judging people on the content of their character, we are being ordered to judge people based on the color of their skin. Quotas and reverse discrimination are likely looming as agencies in the executive branch are pressured to find and correct inequities of outcome (not just opportunity). This despite the fact that the Bible does not command or predict equal outcomes (not even in Heaven!).

While we should strive for equal opportunity under the law, no society in history has ever produced equal outcomes among all groups. That’s because such outcomes are usually determined by several factors that can’t be equalized by the government, including talents, motivation and personal behavior. In fact, Jesus contradicted the Democrats’ insistence on equity when he said that talents (resources) would be taken from those who failed to use and grow them and given to those who did — even those who had more!

throughout the history of this world, when evangelicals have mixed religion and politics, they have almost always ended up as yard art, cat food, and bonfire fuel..., and deservedly so. it seems about every 500 years the self righteous herd infested with the incestuous, the adulterers, and pedophiles, is dramatically culled. IMO we're overdue. it's adapt or perish, thumpers.

Just to fill ya in on a little secret, most Liberal Christians are Progressive.
The article asserts that Progressive Christians are not “true” Christians.

The alliance between the secular left and progressive Christians to mute the truth and to advance socialism, the green new deal and the power of the state is a clear and present danger to true Christianity and to fundamental Biblical belief.

There is a difference between a traditional liberal and a progressive.  We saw that when liberals came out against censorship and the cancel culture recently and were attacked by progressives as being insufficiently left and intolerant.  There is also  a similar difference between religious liberals and progressives.

Pretty much.  Most of mainline Protestantism that is shrinking in influence and hemorrhaging membership is progressive theology oriented and they are largely the people leaving the church and becoming the nones secularists brag so much about.  Now secularists are trying to use progressive or liberation theology in order to try to put a “Christian” face on their political brand to try to persuade more to buy into their America last green socialism mix.

joe-biden-inauguration-2_350x219.jpgA pastor, author, and worldview expert says Joe Biden may be America's second Catholic president, but he has long been one of many self-described Catholics with an important role in the government. And as it turns out, not all of them are treated the same.

Before the Democrat took office, NBC News reported that Biden "stressed his religion doesn't dictate his policies. But those closest to him will tell you it does dictate who he is as a person and who he will be as president."

"You can go to Inauguration Day thankful that you have just a good man trying to do good," the report said.

But when Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein (CA) grilled Amy Coney Barrett, a devout Roman Catholic, at her Senate hearing before taking a seat on the Supreme Court, the tune was a little different.

"When you read your speeches, the conclusion one draws is that the dogma lives loudly within you, and that's of concern," Feinstein said.

Jason Jimenez of Stand Strong Ministriesnoticed the contrast and in a Christian Post op-ed asked, "Why does the media give a pass to Biden's faith?"

He says it is because Biden is, in his own words, a "cultural Catholic."

"They make it a big deal about how his faith will shape his politics, but when you look at his belief system, he is not in essence a Catholic by the Catholic Church's standard," Jimenez asserts. "He is a progressive Catholic that takes parts of his religion as a Catholic but has formulated with progressivism."

To be accepted by the left, the worldview expert says there are several things about which a Catholic in public service must not be too dogmatic.

"It really does boil down to three big ones, and these are cultural issues," Jimenez submits.

"The big one," he says, is abortion. Same-sex marriage comes second, and transgenderism is third.

So while Biden has it right on those issues by the left's standards, Catholic bishops are concerned that the liberal media continues to call him a devoted to the faith.

Archbishop Jose Gomez wrote a letter January 20th warning that the president's pledge to advance the abortion and anti-family agendas promotes moral evils. And now, Archbishop Joseph Naumann, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' (USCCB) Committee on Pro-Life Activities, has expressed his concerns over Biden policies that violate the tenets of the faith.

Hugh Brown of the American Life Leaguetells One News Now what Baumann is saying is bishops have a moral obligation to address the issue, and he is pleased that Baumann issued the statement.

"But I also think that Joe Biden has been in public office since 1972," Brown adds. "Roe vs. Wadelegalized abortion in 1973; he has supported abortion his entire life. Hiding behind the words that he's personally opposed to it is a deception and a lie and an atrocity."

So Brown is not encouraged by the fact that the bishops waited until Biden became president to address his claim of faith.

"I would hold no hope and have zero faith in the American Catholic bishops in terms of the USCCB to actually do anything," he tells One News Now. "The USCCB is a bureaucratic nightmare. It's a home for, quite frankly, socialist ideals."

He decides that it is a simple matter: Any Catholic who supports abortion expansion and homosexual/transgender goals has blood on his hands....

The issue of who is truly a believer and who is a CINO is not just a Protestant issue.  The President of the United States #46 is an out and out full CINO.  And you all accused #45 of that...

Well, I think he pretty obviously was. The Gospels tell a pretty vivid story of Jesus frustrating, rebelling against, and ultimately being persecuted by the conservative establishment. He was accused of consorting with undesirables, of gluttony, drunkenness, and of blasphemy.

Actually he was rebelling against and put to death by the establishment period.  Both conservative and liberal.  The liberal and the conservative among the powers that be United against Him as a threat to their world order.

No it hasn’t.  Individual Christians are free to vote their individual conscience when it comes to politics.  That so many of us chose to vote for Trump is a choice of each individual.

You know as a Christian and an American citizen, I am insulted that y'all essentially need a "boogeyman" to project and a 'client' to demonize everyday. It is absolutely pathetic that a type of "evangelical" Christian can display such larceny that other Christians have little choice essentially than to push-back!

First, do you really have expectation that God will only grant conservative, evangelical, believers insertion into the Kingdom of Heaven?

Second, do not kid or delude yourselves, God is not impressed by arrogant, liars who masquerade as peacemakers when in reality their own body of politics and spirituality is devoted to carnage, misery, and tearing other good people down.
