Tired of Being Tired?
Big government is winning. Teachers unions are winning. The Taliban is winning. Big tech is winning. Establishment party politics is winning. China is winning. Fear of a virus is winning. Inflation is winning. Five people who want to compete in sports as a different gender are winning. Illegal aliens are winning. Joe and Jane Q. Taxpayer aren’t winning. They have fast become demoralized, defeated, dispirited, and depressed.

The Orwellian deep state big government is rapidly trying to demoralize we the people of America. They think that if they demoralize us enough with crazy tax and spend policies, big brother controls regarding their extended pandemic in the form of more mandates and other controls to keep us away from normal combined with an open border spewing covid and a debacle overseas will make us more pliable and accepting of their dystopian state.  Democrats are excited by all this. Little do they know that we are not broken and will not yield.

A familiar refrain among Donald Trump supporters during his presidency was, “Are you tired of winning, yet?” Stronger borders, lower taxes, renegotiated trade deals, exits from globalist summits and confabs all fed the enthusiasm in the Trump voter that the country was back, and strong, and “winning, winning, winning.” It wasn’t as much Trump the man his voters were cheering. The left always incorrectly assumed it was about a cult of personality, nothing more.

What Trump voters were actually cheering was themselves and their own voice amplified. The belief in the greatness of the United States articulated through Trump. It was a celebration of the daily fight to advance American strength, might, and exceptionalism. It felt good to be advancing the ball for the Stars and Stripes while celebrating the individual American getting ahead.

But that feels like a long time ago. Just ask around. Who’s winning today? It’s not a partisan question. There’s no high-fiving and hashtagging on social media about Joe Biden’s victories. He has none. Even his voters know it. What’s to celebrate? Who’s winning in the last eight months after the election of the “most popular candidate to ever run for president?”

I boarded a plane last weekend as the news was breaking about the fall of Afghanistan. As I waited in the hundred yard-long security line, I considered we were approaching the twenty-year mark of the conflict. Twenty years since 9/11/01. Twenty years of our men and women losing limbs, fighting and dying. I wondered what it was all for now.

As I pulled out my government issued ID required to board a plane – an ID Democrats find oppressive and racist when required for voting - I reflected on our open borders as well as corporate America and our Department of Justice bullying states that simply want to strengthen their own election integrity laws.

As the TSA agent ordered me to pull my required mask down off my face so she could match my face to my picture ID, I reflected on Dr. Michael Osterholm, Zeke Emmanuel, and even Dr. Fauci once openly testifying to the futility of masks even though we’re now all required to wear them in federal facilities once again.

Removing my shoes and belt and watch and emptying my pockets to be scanned and groped by a government bureaucrat who insists I keep my mask on while I strip for him and he fondles my crotch, I angrily recalled my interview with Trump national Security Advisor Lt. General Keith Kellogg. I asked if twenty years of this has made us safer to which he admitted it has not. His assessment was most of the TSA strip-and-fondle gauntlet is simply a familiar, taxpayer funded routine not an effective deterrent to terror.

In fact, just before boarding the plane my government issued ID had to come out a second time to match my boarding pass as a new level of security was recently added. Oh, and masks are now to remain on our faces in airports and planes until at least January of 2022, says the government.

When I landed I called an Uber to take me home from the airport. There was a half-hour wait on a Monday night for a car. The estimated price would be $200. In Pennsylvania like other Democrat-run states, it’s more lucrative to collect unemployment checks from the government than to drive your side hustle these days.

At home four students in my kids’ school district committed suicide in the past year. You know how many died from COVID? Four fewer than took their own lives. Not to speak of plunging academic performance across the board for all students including mine. Still, most districts insist on covering our children’s faces for yet another Fall and threaten more isolation if a virus with 99% survivability is detected at all.

As for the adults, you might have thought you’d do your part to get your shot so you and your family could return to “normal” and be left alone to enjoy the open air, and socialization, shopping, travel, etc. You hoped you could go back to a time you weren’t sizing up your fellow American as to which team they’re on: pro mask or no mask, vaccine or no vaccine.

But now a booster shot is needed to be extra certain you’re “safe.” That is until the next goal post shifts. And we’ve still got a lot of shaming and scaring of our fellow Americans to do to make them comply. Your ability to work, shop, and eat in some places may now depend on your compliance with shot requirements. Once again for a virus 99% of us will weather just fine.

Go out to eat lately? Staffing is short, menu items are missing, and the food costs more. Same at the gas pump and the grocery store. Building, repairing, ordering anything new? Get ready to wait and pay more there, too. Meanwhile big city Democrat mayors salivate at the chance to shut down and regulate businesses all over again to protect us from the “variants” while their streets run red with blood from the relentless, historic violence they refuse to allow police to stop.

Even going to church for many Americans was considered “too risky” most of the last year and congregations were forced to watch worship on You Tube and Zoom rather than commune and gather together as the Bible instructs. And don’t forget voting in person was too risky, too. Just mail in your ballot! (wink)

Protesting at our nation’s capital or protesting anywhere for that matter wasn’t just risky. It was a "violent insurrection," you know? The National Guard and steel gates were erected. You were branded a domestic terrorist if you so much as raised an eyebrow at the new, elderly sheriff in town.

All the while the liberal elite party in their Martha’s Vineyard homes, and host star-studded celebrity gatherings, fly private, carbon-belching jets, and dance the nights away unmasked without a care in the world. Almost as if they’re celebrating something. They’re not tired at all.

Could the left be celebrating how very damaged the American psyche has become? It’s more than politics. We’re now dealing with a mental state this country isn’t accustomed to feeling and it’s worth asking if it’s on purpose. We’re not just NOT winning; we’re actively losing to an internal, self-imposed enemy. And everyone feels it. The “most popular candidate in history” is already underwater at -18 in the daily tracking polls.

The American people aren’t tired of winning anymore. They’re just tired of being tired. And that might be just the thing that energizes Democrats the most.

Not true.  Our church ended the passing of the offering plate years ago.  There’s a collection box before entering the sanctuary but most do our giving on line now.  So no decrease in funding.  We are all Back to meeting mask free now.

Matthew 5-6:

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

There is much more to Church assembly than an individual praying out loud for their personal needs/issues.  In fact that doesn’t happen in church at all.  Christian churches don’t incorporate those kind of prayers in their services.  Jesus wanted us his followers to gather together and worship together as the seed author said.  We should indeed keep our private prayers just that.

YOU said that the Bible instructs you to 'commune and gather together' and Matthew 5-6 refutes that claim.

Jesus wanted us his followers to gather together and worship together as the seed author said.

So you follow what the author says over what Jesus said in Matthew. Got ya.

church is about reading scriptures, singing praises, and learning from the word of God usually in the form of a sermon and corporate prayer for the church, it’s members, those with special requests, and for our elected leaders.  It is not a place where individuals make a public spectacle of themselves about personal matters in front of everyone that Jesus condemned.  You mix up two separate unrelated issues.

You are taking that verse out of context and misinterpreting it Xx.

What I said clearly in 1.1.10 stands.

For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church. Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you. And I believe it in part, for there must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized. When you come together, it is not the Lord's supper that you eat. For in eating, each one goes ahead with his own meal. One goes hungry, another gets drunk. ...

Why? Because I totally disproved your contention that Jesus didn’t want his followers to assemble and meet together to worship Him and The Father?  What Jesus spoke out against was people making public spectacles of themselves publicly praying over personal matters as a way to draw attention to themselves.  That had nothing to do with attending synagogue which Jesus frequently did or mosque or Church.

No, because your comment is hilarious.

Oh and BTFW, Hallux already explained the context of Matthew 18:20 to you. You are misinterpreting it

What Jesus spoke out against was people making public spectacles of themselves publicly praying over personal matters as a way to draw attention to themselves.

That isn't what Matthew 5-6 are about Xx.

That had nothing to do with attending synagogue which Jesus frequently did or mosque or Church.

Jesus went to synagogue to preach and heal, not to pray. He prayed in private. READ Mark and try not to misinterpret it.

Distrust and Verify

COMMENTARY

Every member of America’s expert class possessing even a modicum of integrity and self-awareness has long been aware of a simple truth: Only a fool would trust the emanations of America’s leading experts.

Worse, the more prestigious the job title, the less trustworthy the pronouncement. Official experts who speak for the government are the most suspect of all. Worse still, you can’t write off anything they say because a great deal of it is informed and valid.

In other words, you can’t assume that some urgent message coming from the prestigious official leading the charge to address a critical problem is true—but you can’t assume that it’s false, either. What you can assume safely is that it’s self-serving. When the truth serves their personal agendas, they share it gleefully. When it doesn’t, selective self-serving factoids, deceptively packaged, will always trump the public interest.

The clearest long-running example of this phenomenon involves the climate apocalypse—which bears only a tenuous relationship to climate science but generates ample funding and prestige for its leading proponents.

This week’s trophy, however, goes to America’s leading experts in foreign and defense policy, who assured us mere weeks ago that Afghanistan was secure. Are America’s top generals really that ignorant of military realities? Or were they playing to a domestic political agenda and hoping they could keep the fiction going long enough to gain plausible deniability and confuse the public?

Answer: You don’t get to be a general while being that ignorant of military facts on the ground. On the other hand, you don’t get to be a top general unless you know how to curry favor with politicians, diplomats, pundits, and the press. Which skill do you think dominates among those who’ve made it to the very top?

The same is true throughout America’s elite expert class. Those at the top are those who excel at getting promoted. With some exceptions, their mastery of subject matter and methodology is third rate; their mastery of professional politics is world class.

That open secret has been buried and denied for far too long. Thanks to the COVID pandemic, however, America is finally noticing that our “leading experts” are largely ego-driven elitists possessing only casual concern for the public. They’re deeply unworthy of our trust.

These “experts” have debased the notion of “science.” They’ve intentionally blurred the distinctions between scientific inquiry and policy guidance for two self-serving reasons:

One, the single most common answer to any scientific question—by far—is some variant of “We don’t yet know.” Restated more scientifically: “The best available data is insufficient to generate an answer we can state to any degree of scientific certainty.” Top experts will do anything to avoid giving such an honest, clear answer. Uncertainty makes them seem less like experts. Far better for their elite image to be clear, certain, unequivocal, incoherent, inconsistent, and entirely wrong.

Two, power, prestige, and patronage opportunities flow to those who issue policy proclamations. Elite ego-driven experts tend to believe that they’re far wiser than the politicians, pundits, and peasants who’ve come to them for help. When the crisis of the moment impinges upon their particular area of expertise, who better to dictate the solution?

With the delta variant, draconian mandates, discriminatory vaccine passports, and another potentially disrupted school year dominating the news, our “leading public health experts” have fostered debate on numerous questions that should have clear scientific answers.

A few examples: What are the risks of death or serious illness to children? Are vaccinated people less contagious than the non-vaccinated? How much does a casually worn surgical mask reduce the likelihood of contagion from an asymptomatic individual? How long does natural immunity last? How long does vaccination immunity last?

None of these questions are suitable topics for opinions on which reasonable people can differ. They’re all amenable to scientific definition, hypothesis testing, data accumulation—and answers. If the answers remain inconclusive, fine. Announce the uncertainty and refrain from recommending new policies. Stand against the sizable swaths of the public and officialdom who remain woefully ill-informed but deeply opinionated—and in many cases, eager to impose significant, widespread, and open-ended impositions on civil liberties. Such a posture is an affront to both liberty and science.

Blame for this debacle lies squarely at the feet of America’s leading experts. It’s time that America trumpeted what many of us on the inside have long known: You can’t trust these folks! Take everything they say with a grain of salt.

It may not be easy, but if you’re tired of having elite experts run roughshod over the country and your life, you’re going to have to start doing your own research. When it comes to assessing the advice of America’s top experts, there’s only one way forward: Distrust and verify.
